Since the last vehicles thread got a lot of replies, and its now dead, I figured I would make a new one.
Let's see your setup.
Also I'm interested to see if anyone here is into Overlanding, or camping on off road trails for decent lengths of time.
Pic related is mine and a friend 's Jeeps on a day trip this summer.
My pride and joy
>>880277
This is the only pic of my bike that I have, but here in Ontario there's something like 300 km of ATV bush trails from Goering Bay to Timmins Ontario. Basically in Ontario, everything North of Lake Huron/Georgian Bay is just bush.
Anyway, next summer I want to ride the trail and camp along the way. I'd be spending 5 or more hours a day on my bike and I want to try being self sustaining with fishing and foraging. Hunting rules here and carrying weapons on off road vehicles through multiple hunting zones is pretty sketchy here so I doubt I'd bring a rifle.
>>880294
Here are the trails
>>880293
My ride and joy.
Old Brown for the road.
>>880315
Old Red for the trails.
>>880294
That would be awesome.
I wish I had an atv, but I like being able to carry a lot of shit in my jeep.
Most orv trails aren't wide enough for jeeps though so I may get an atv soon
>>880293
Nice looking truck.
You try it out on any trails yet?
>>880322
Yeah a few. Rides nice but I'm thinking of getting it lifted about a foot.
>>880326
I would think about going with a smaller lift at first, unless you were planning on getting a real high end kit.
You may absolutely hate the way it rides and drives with a lift of that height on it.

If you're refering to my OP, its a lot further off the road than you think.
Logging trail does not equal dirt road buddy.

07 Patriot. Put the seat in back down and sleep like a baby.
As cool as these are for getting out, they are even cooler as a daily driver.
Just knowing that I am fully stocked and ready to camp at all times makes getting through the week so much easier.
Some days after work instead of going home I go fishing and spend the night,
I get up extra early and hit the gym on my way to work for a shower . I always have fesh clothes in the closet.
>>880730
that's nice
is it yours
>>880730
Nice fucking syncho
You spent a pretty penny on a classic car.
Heres my '02 Liberty, she's a total fuckin tank.
I've been having dreams about getting a VW camper van for the past year or so, but the only ones in my area that aren't a rusted out shell are going for over $10,000.
What do

Did not post my actual rig but it is similar.
I have had if for years, they were not so crazy expensive when I bought it.

Most stock vehicles require a lot of work before actually doing /out/ shit in them.
Skid plate was $30 on Amazon. Gas tank I left stock. New tires were $150. Stock suspension is fine if you are under 200 pounds. I have over 25k miles on it through all terrain and it still runs like new. Did a trip from Ohio to northern Cali to camp out for a few weeks with some /k/ommandos. Fun time.
I'll post my three.

>>881631
Is that what they call an adventure bike?
Is it comfortable to ride?
>>881636
It is... or a gravel bike, or monstercross. Whatever you wanna call them, they are versatile, and I find this one very comfy. 2.1" tires, carbon seatpost, and carbon fork, wide/flared drop bars, and a long toptube.
>>881642
Did you buy it like that or is it modified?
What did it cost?
>>881644
Different tires but stock otherwise. MSRP is $1315. I payed less because I work at a shop.
>>881336
Nature's cooler, baby.

I actually want one of these. I have no need for it yet though.
>>880316
I had a 1984 Honda 250R and my buddies had various dirt-bike and wheelers (including a sand rail and VW buggy) and back in the day, we road our asses off up all around Tawas and Oscoda Michigan.
I flogged the shot out’a that 250R until the mid 90s, when by then it was tired out and the piston skirt had broke, so I sold it to guy who rebuilt it to haul his ice fishing shanty (he still has it I believe).
Back then, there were essentially no rules on off-roading on state / fed land and we’d ride trails and dirt roads for hours on end but eventually, it got so popular and so many people got wheelers, that all kinda restrictions were brought in (riding only on marked trails, scramble areas, etc.).
But by then, my buddies and I had gotten older, married with kids, etc. and had given up the wheelers and dirt-bikes for hunting and fishing.

in the process of buying a house ATM, was going to buy one actually when i have a real place to store it lol.
but i really want one.
>>884068
Get a pop-up camper.
They're more comfortable, easier to deal with, you can leave camper at camp and you don't lose all the storage capacity of your pick-up bed.

>>884061
Killer, those 250Rs seem to have an indestructible reputation as the gold standard for performance three wheelers. I couldn't imagine how much fun it must have been in the early years. Here in BC, an absolute paradise for off-roaders, the restrictions on off-road vehicles are immensely layered, at least since 2015. It took me two weeks, a public notary, 4 separate insurance brokers, and $150 to get my Big Red plates and insurance so that I can ride it on logging roads. And even now with my plates half of the service roads around here specifically restrict off-road vehicle use. Obviously there's still plenty of places to rip around and enjoy ourselves, wouldn't be posting in this thread otherwise, but man it would have been nice to have gotten into this 10 or more years ago.
I have a 2001 Tacoma. It works for me

Anyone with a honda element?
Is it true you can spray the whole interior down with a hose if you wanted to. Do you need to do allot of prep- work, like covering the dash?
How are they in general? I am interested in getting one when I am back home in the USA.
>>884409
Get an FJ cruiser, those interiors you can actually hose down.
>>884096
Thanks, I actually use my vehicle for trails and hunting/camping so I guess I'm qualified to have an opinion.
>>884304
No, I have a truck as well but you're not going to see me taking a full sized 2014 truck down a tight trail and into the woods.
>>884412
FJ cruisers are not bad, but those also don't have a solid front axle.
If those FJs were so good then serious offroaders wouldn't be swapping solid axles back under the front of them.
91 Navara, been to the moon and halfway back on the clock. unstoppable.
>>884431
>>884434
>>884420
For a cuck considering getting a honda element an FJ Cruiser will be more than enough off road, also even though its ifs its still got plenty of articulation and wheel travel and at least they all come standard with a rear locker.
>>881944
Fucking raw, is it a 12valve?
>>884409
you can add a pop top to them for not too much
I got offered a 2002 Nissan X-Trail at a ridiculously cheap price today because the lad wants rid of it to make space in his yard. I've never had a 4x4 before. I know its a bit of a chelsea tractor but it could be fun as a first off road vehicle.
Pic not mine, just a Landrover I would love to own.

At least not me. Got it today!
my land rover discovery 2 td5 diesel hemi project
Stupid question, but would putting 'offroad tyres' for lack of a better term on my hatchback give me a noticeable improvement while driving down gravel/dirt roads to get to trails here in NZ?
>>880800
A lot of people underestimate the Liberty.
Not a Wrangler, but the short wheel base is great.
Certainly better offered than a patriot or a compass.
>>884772
Probably not. They're for grip so you'd probably just rut the roads a little more.
>>884059
>>884772
Yeah, maybe a little. But most of your problems would be from the cars clearance and power, not the tiers, if I were to have a guess. I take my Pug 206 down a lot of gravel/dirt roads tho and its pretty fine
>>884772
Maybe.
I put light truck mud and snow tires on my '68 Chevelle when everybody was saying to put on mags.
The best you can do is put in a locking differential.
Next best, have tires with self-clearing, open lug tread.
My tires now, sold the Chevelle.

Beautiful Sunday out here in the Fraser Valley, got a lot of trail time in this afternoon.
The FJ has done well for me.
>>880277
"Overlanding" is just a pretentious term for camping desu. Especially here in the U.S.
Pic's my heep. Reliable as fuark.
Can anyone recommend a good smaller car that I can drive around the city with but also go /out/ every couple of weeks?

Baja Bugs are killer, there's a pretty strong community of them in my area and I run into them all of the time out on the trails. Chased one around the riverside last weekend.

the navs are a little out of my price range! well for a decent one anyways, my mate just got a 2012 d22 and theyre pretty fun!
>>884772
If that's your hatchback then you'd know it's an excellent offroad vehicle. So I'm gonna assume it's not yours, but that's a damn sexy Niva
