What i the best /Out Dogo?

Im in the process of getting a Husky puppy right now, looking forward to showing him the great /Out/doors.

Also post your hiking dogos.
>>
I owned a husky/chow mix when I was growing up. She was dying of cancer at 7 years of age, hanging out in the back yard. A neighbor walked by our house with her dog. My dog wasn't having any of that shit. Proceeded to grab the bottom of our chain link fence in her mouth, bend it up, crawl underneath it, sprint to the street and fuck that other dog up.

6 months later I wrapped her in her favorite blanket and buried her under a tree in the back yard.

Man. I miss that dog.

I just lost my best dog i ever had, american eskimo. She did 4 days after i lost my dad. Both to cancer. Getting this puppy i think will be therapeutic for me.

Huskies are assholes, can be a really stubborn breed. I would not make that my out dog. If you do take him out, keep him on the leash. Those fucker will.gtfo and run for miles.

Huskies and similar dogs are no good pets and bad out dogs
They are too close to wolf and just difficult in training, aggression and running away
They also suffer in most climates

>>
>>873134
1/10 bait... dull edge and bait slid off the hook.
>>
>>873138
It's not bait, it's the truth. Modern pet owners are sick.
Many of them get dogs or cats because they need a pseudo child or status symbol or maybe they delude themselves into thinking the stupid animal loves them and is their best friend. Which is laughable because it's a fucking dog.
Pet ownership goes up, pet spending goes up even more. Soon there will be 100 million dogs in America, the vast majority are obviously not working dogs. Modern pet culture is simply sick, they think of their animal as a human, they become too attached emotionally, they abuse the ADA to take their animal every where.

They stamp their feet at any sign of killing cats or dogs because that would be inhumane! Meanwhile most of them are eating meat products every day. They don't care about animals, hell cats are by far the largest anthropogenic cause of bird population decline and extinctions. They don't care about animals they care about the special animals they've been culturally indoctrinated into caring about. The Dog. The Cat.
>>
>>873141
As someone thats had at least 7 different dogs in his family while growing up, I tend to agree a bit to be honest.

There so many fucking abandoned dogs as well it's not funny.
There is also the problem of peoples yards becoming smaller and houses bigger while pet ownership goes up. Dogs don't want to live in a house, they want to live outside.

If I was to have a dog it would only be once I got my place with plenty of acreage for the doggo to run around. People just think way too much about "me" when it comes to wanting a pet, and not the pet itself.

Why do dog fags use such childish language?
Do you think it makes you endearing?
>>
I've owned 6 dogs in my lifetime, 4 different breeds. My favorite was my Weimaraner. I adopted her from a shelter and she was an older dog that only lived 2 1/2 more years with me. But she loved going out. She would always hunt down small game on her own and bring it back to me. She was patient when fishing and loved to be in the woods. If you've never had a dog before or suck at training, I would get a lab or golden retriever. If you've trained a dog before, a beagle or foxhound are good dogs.

>>873014
This, but your post really applies to any breed. It's all about training. Some dogs are smarter than others. If you're a terrible trainer or new dog owner, just play it safe and get a smarter breed.

>>873023
Huskies are from Northeast Asian originally. And your dog barks at every noise or movement. It's not a good hunting or fishing dog. Any dog can be an /out/ dog if all you do is hike or camp.

>>873118
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are one of the healthiest dog breeds out there. They are stubborn to train though and can have aggressive personalities if you play with them roughly or tease them.

>>873105

The best dog is subjective, friendo. It all depends on the persons activity level and what they do while out. I like to hunt a lot of fowl, so I've owned several pointers and labs. When I was a kid I loved coon hunting, so i always had several terriers and a treeing walker. Terriers are some of the most vicious and brave dogs I've ever known. The walkers were a lot better at finding the raccoons, but the terriers were better at dispatching them.

Where did I say that? Doggo is most definitely not from 4chan.
Just more baby talk that pet fags use for no reason, like pupper and doge.
>>
Never owned a husky but the ones I've been around seem to hardly bark and always want to play and go places. Definitely need a good leash
>>
>>875119
They howl something awful and a lot if they're really excited. They also tend to want to adventure and that can be really stressful. They're a great dog breed but require a heavy variety of physical activity and need to be challenged. If not they can be really destructive. Also twice a year they don't just shed, they "blow coat" and that shit gets EVERYWHERE. But for the right people with the right combo of patience, free time, and resources they're amazing dogs.

Posted her in another thread. Shelter said lab/shepherd mix. They're retarded. She's got pointy ears that don't know which way they want to go. Loose saggy skin around her face and chest. Webbed toes, a curly tail that kind of unravels instead of wags, and an incredibly high prey drive to where the squirrels in our yard know better than to be on the ground at 8am when she gets walked. She's down for just about anything as long as she can stop and sniff what gets her attention and she doesn't just sniff it either, she'll slam her face in it and inhale. Never had a dog like her in my life and I've had over 10.

>>
>>872950

Grandparents had two wolfdog huskies.

Used to wrestle with me when I was a toddler. I'd tear teir ears, pull their tongues and ride them. They's drag me across the yard, roll me around and when I was a baby, they'd keep me safe from the sun and guard me outdoors when my parents and grandparents were inside. They were strict about their territory when I wasn't around but turned outright fucking savage when I was there. They killed cats, elk, deer and a stupid lone wolf who happened to wander across there. Never the neighboring dogs though, they always stayed away from the yard. They were a couple mated from small puppies. One she died, she was buried in the yard and we planted a tree at her grave. Immediately he stopped eating and just laid at her grave. A short while after he was buried right next to her.

Holy shit I miss those doggos. My first ever memory is riding one of them and holding on to her ears.

Fuck,

>>
>>875778
You're a special snowflake kind of stupid. The equality part is not entirely true as long as your spot is asserted and the dog knows it's place. For her, it's at the foot of the bed. If she decides to challenge this as some dogs do from time to time she gets not only told to get off the bed but has to leave the room. I got this, no worries. Your typing and grammar is horrid btw. As far as the disease thing goes: Not touching it. Mostly because it's just plain wrong. The fur thing isn't an issue so long as you keep your dog groomed and clean.

I don't care about cats. Dogs are much further from their wild cousins than any cat and have a much closer bond with humans. While a wolf cub may continually pull at a rope attempting to get a treat, a puppy will give up and look for the nearest human. It's in their blood to need people.

assume that I work 9-5 in an office and I want to get a dog

I hear you need to be at home with them when they're puppers for a really long time. Will 5 weeks vacation do it?

Can a dog generally (labrador or something of similar size) be left alone for 4 hours at home? that way I or my gf could come home and walk it on lunch break
>>
>>880266
It really depends on the dog and how attached it gets to you. Labs can be destructive fucks if they're left alone, they like attention and respond well to training. As far as if you can make time for the dog or if leaving it alone during a workday is do-able it's a question of if your dog is going to be morose when your gone or if it's going to destroy your property. Like mom said, it's a big responsibility, and although some people will disagree, it's still a dependant living being. Plus if you're inner city and get a big dog and cram it into an apartment, it's gonna go loco.

So much wrong in this post unless you are a PETA fanatic. At least then you disgust with companion animals would be understandable. Dog ownership is associated with lower rates of depression, lower rates of hypertension and a generally improved quality of life. Additionally functional MRI studies show your dog loves you with the same parts of their brain that lets you love them. Are they overpopulated - for sure. Companion animals should be spayed or neutered. But getting a dog is often in your best interest.

Last year I was hunting with my Field Golden and she found some human feces to roll on just on the side of the trail. We tried getting to clean it off while swimming (the outside temp was around 35F / 0C) she hopped in after sticks just fine but it didn't really help for the rest of the car ride home.

Though in general having the shorter coat is wonderful when she goes off for swims. We just hose her off at home and she sleeps in my bed the same night. If she runs through a bunch of tall grass sometimes we don't even hose her off.

Almost any dog will go /out/ if you start when they're young.

That said, I have a border collie, terrier mix, and she's pretty much the best /out/ dog I've had yet, she just wants to keep moving and investigating, she doesn't give a fuck about strange people or strange dogs, and she's the easiest dog I've ever trained.

She's also a disgusting weeaboo.

border collies are top tier
I have 3 dogs, one is bordercollie and the others are X Huntaway
They're smart as fuck and love sniffing and all that but are super loyal, coming as soon as i call.
they're getting on in years now though so they only get a walk or so a day
eldest is 13, middle (her pup) is 11 and last is 11 months old, so he's always ready for outside.
