Depending on the area, some places will charge you to dock or go into private property. You will have to maintain the boat and if any major leaks or engine failures happen, you will lose the boat. Other than that, everything should be the same and you could live this way indefinitely.

What's you're reasoning for wanting to live on a boat? Not sure if this is an option in your area but If it were me I would get a house boat/floating house. Doesn't have the gas expense and doesn't require the maintenance of a boat engine which is extremely expensive on the size of a boat you could live full time on.

I went through some serious mental shit between the ages of 16-20 after finding out my father had done some absolutely horrible shit I'll not get into, the only thing that really helped me was a lot of solo camping. Would honestly recommend it to anyone going through a hard time to really figure themselves out. I hope things get easier anon.

There are actually a handful of those around here, and tons of people live on shitty old boats in the keys. They just anchor them in natural harbors and I doubt 90% of them are capable of moving under their own power.

They're money pits OP. I owned and lived on one for 6 years. It was cheaper at first but with the maintenance and all that it ended up being just as spend as owning a nice house. I sold it and moved because my job moved a couple of years ago, but I will say I do miss living on the water and I'm planning on buying a live aboard boat when I retire.

i expierienced it in summer and it was fun but it might just suck during winter or over a longer period of time because of wc/shower, insulation, heating, small space, laundry etc.

Go be a gillnetter in Alaska and just sleep in your boat year round

I'd like to add, the little time I've spent drift netting in Cook Inlet, it was the most /out/ I've ever been. From getting sloshed around in 10ft waves that you can't predict to catching more fish in a day than I've caught in my whole life, it was amazing. The 4 hours of sleep kind of blows horse cunts though.
