Currently in the process of buying my first pair of mountaineering boots.
I found a pair of 2nd hand boots (Koflach Arctis Expe) for $150. These usually retail for ~$450. The condition seems pretty good for the price, but what do y'all think? Are there any other models you'd suggest?

What temps are these boots for?
Do they last very long?
>>
What region/season are you planning to do most of your climbing in?

Its a great offer but it's retarded of you to get ice / extreme cold high altitude boots if you just want to go to the mountain in general.

I use Merrell Moab and La Sportiva Trango for the harder stuff that an also require crampons.

You're gonna look retarded with those plastic boots in a sunny day in the mountain. That's for high altitude stuff and glacier climbing etc...

second hand """mountaineering""" boots are normally good hetsb because most personally ple that buy them wre morons, but they do work.

there are better boots, but hey neon yellow fiberglass tells everyone else you made it.

Those koflachs are usually what guide companies use to rent to their clients. They are easy to dry out and are pretty sturdy.

But yeah, unless you're starting out at high altitude I wouldn't buy them for yourself.

Look for a lightweight leather or synthetic mountaineering boot instead. I like scarpa and la sportivas personally.

Mostly in the spring (as well as mid-late autumn) and primarily in the NH Whites.
Though I am trying to plan a trip to Rainier.
