so i just had a shot a fuckhead bear that was tearing up shit around my house despite a thousand dogs barking at it
i've done a few rugs and a winter coat in the past but i figured i'd go full autism mode and do a nice rug, clay up and stitch in the wrinkles, paint up a fake nose, all that fun stuff.
anyone have experience with this stuff? i've noticed most taxidermists cut out the gums and teeth and replace them with painted clay and it tends to just look awful. would pickling be enough to keep the gums from rotting, could i just directly airbrush color back into them once they're preserved?
i notice they also generally cast and mold the skull rather than just giving it an acid bath and stapling the hide directly into the skull, any reason for this?
bumping once before i take it to /k/
should have known this board has way too many /an/ speds

Most guys probably take their shit to a professional instead of trying to nigger rig it themselves.

Hey asshole, give the thread at least 24 hours before you abandon it. This is a slow board. Someone will be along to help you eventually. Also, we're not quite full of /an/ just yet.

I wouldn't call what I've done taxidermy, but I've tanned some hides and cleaned skulls from animals I've either trapped or hunted. Hope to get a public land black bear within a few years.

It might be just the photo but those skulls look very white, when I acid bathe my skulls they turn out a dull eggshell yellowish white, how do you do it?

You have to admit this board does have more than a few of your typical california/oregon/colorado "i spent $6000 on a kayak" type faggots who have never fired a gun in their lives
