Has anyone ever found malachite in New England, or is it possible?

I'm pretty sure malachite can form as a secondary mineral almost anywhere with hydrothermal activity.

Once upon a time I found an AMAZING purple fluorite crystal with no matrix or anything, mixed in with some limestone gravel on a long stretch of road with no houses nearby, alongside many acres of cornfield. I couldn't believe my eyes. I kept poking around and a short time later I found a fossilized clamshell. Kept rummaging and found a flint arrowhead...
tfw you find what you think are indigenous rocks and it's really someone's tossed-out rock collection.
I don't know why someone would dump these out but I also found a specimen of pure smelted copper ore, one of those calcite crystal things that they call "TV rock" and a pyrite specimen.
If I had stopped looking after the fluorite crystal, I would have lived my life thinking that it had ridden in with the truckload of limestone gravel from whatever gravel pit/quarry the limestone had come from.
I'm not saying the malachite is or isn't indigenous to where you found it. Just something to consider.
