Prove it with OC.
Me, pic related, today. I love my Can Am Outlander 650 V-Twin!
I have been "around" and ridden many make and models. I used to run ATV tours on 500cc Arctic Cats, among other brands.
This one is the best, so far.
Yours?

2016 Rancher 420 DCT IRS, great exploring quad.
>>867518
Quads are so fat lazy redneck and rich trust fund kiddies to me...
Idk I can't shake the stigma because its so true everytime theres a group of them...
ORVs should be banned from public lands.
>>867518
How many times have you rolled it?
>>867548
I get the feeling more from dirt bikes, quads I get more of alot of amatures
>>867518

aww
Race-ready...
and the summer toy
which I really need to put in the dirt more than once this summer...
other work and projects keeps getting in the way of my moto time
Chink shit here.
>$2800 used, a steal w/accessories.
Now this is what pisses me off.
My country just doesn't have a used market. For the same machine I'd probably pay like 8k€.
All I want is a Honda Fourtrax 300 for like 2k€. That's it.
Well. With it being a chink piece of shit it's still fairly useful.
Hauled home wood for 3 winters so far, I'd still kill for a decent Quad, but I don't plan on putting out 7k€ for a 350cc Yamaha.
>>867736
>Ugh. I hate the way quad cunts act chummy with proper dirt bike riders. Even using the term "ride" with a quad seems wrong and try hard.
>>867715
Well I'm not really looking to start an argument here, but from personal experience I find ATV riders to generally wear gear (helmet etc) and move at appropriate speeds.
Most if not all dirt bike riders around here do not wear any gear at all. And all of them ride on obnoxiously loud 2 stroke smoke machines at stupid speeds, throwing rocks at my house and car.
>>867736
You are confusing quads with side by sides.
You're welcome.
>>867548
Why do you hate whitey?

i know this feel too

I'm loving that
i don't get it quads are utility vehicles for hauling stuff over hard terrain, dirt bikes are well mostly for fun, altho the military uses them for scouting.
it's not even comparable, why the butthurt?
I reeealy need to ride this girl more often, the hill country is beautiful

Can you put a snow plow on that? I'm assuming you can with that size motor.
Not trying to be a prick, but are quads for guys who are afraid of or can't ride dirt bikes? Seem like dirt bikes with training wheels.
>>870394
I did it on my 250cc chink.
You 'can' plow, but without a 4x4 ATV you just don't have enough traction to push the snow.
Had to strap on a pair of car batteries on the rear rack to get me going.
OPs machine should do it easily though.

They are. You generally see fat fucks riding them, that should tell you all you need to know.
>>870395
Thats kind of how i feel about them. They have their place for utility, but I don't see the attraction to them for recreation.

How the fuck do you carry big game on a two-wheeled vehicle
>>870395
At least where I live people ride quads and dirt bikes at about the same rate. Majority of people who use quads use them to go through muddy and thick conditions. You wouldn't make it 3 feet with a dirt bike in those conditions.
>>871215
Why is it at the show? is it modded or something? there were a lot of sleds at the show near me last week but they were the 2017 models from each manufacturer and super modded sleds that were one of a kind.
>>871518
It's about 3K, or more, to mod quad for trax.
Nice, but slower. A True Snow Machine, with a wooden foghorn would be better.

'16 assault, wrapped up, some clutch work. Motor's stock, clutch work keeps me in improved-stock class on the race track.
Promo for the avalanche org, dealer sponsors, and wrap company.
850s arent in yet, so mine's made a few shows in their place.

We'll try it this time...
Anybody with some miles on the Piute trail in UT?
Planning stages now.
I rode a dirt bike for the first time a couple days ago. I've driven a few quads and a couple side by sides, but damn dirt bikes are fun.
There wasnt much of a learning curve either cause I used to ride BMX bikes, but the hardest part for me was getting it going. I kept stalling it trying to balance the clutch and throttle lol...
>>872611
Clutch/throttle comes with seat time.
Getting the fueling right helps too ... mine needs some twiddling since the temps are coming down... starting to lean out at idle.
I'll look at that tonight with the oil change.
Big Red reporting in.
>>873381
>>872611
Are the quads all auto? You ever driven a manual car or truck? Dirtbikes are much more forgiving.
>>873385
I've never ridden a quad with a clutch, I think most are automatic or have automatic clutches at least.
>>873469
Last one I rode was some little 125cc or something, not a hardcore race one but not utility, and that had a clutch. I think it was a little older. Can't even remember what it was, there was a blizzard and I was ripping it around unplowed streets at 40mph with a dude on a sled behind it.
But all of the newer utility ones I have been on are autos.
>>873385
Im the guy you replied to
All the quads were autos. Ive driven manual cars. The owner of the dirtbike i rode said it has a really weird clutch. Also clutchin with my hand instead of my foot was weird.
>>873667
Next time just say "fuck dat clutch" when shifting gears and float it.
Not sure how it would work on dirtbikes but it's not your gearbox anyway so go for it.
>>873667
see i'm the other way ... I don't have a problem with hand-clutch, foot-shift... but when i'm in a manual car, I get it all fucked up.
Motos are typically wet clutches, so you can drag 'em in the friction zone. Do that with a car and you'll burn out your clutch in short order.
Have a new clutch pack for my moto in the garage... might swap that out this weekend.
Logged over 110 miles on the moto today...
>>873674
Better going up than down. No synchro or anything, so you can jam/mash gears. Usually the dogs that engage between gears on the transmission stacks get rounded off, then they don't engage real nicely.
Crank/counterweight on the left, two trans stacks on the right. Shift drum is the shiny cored-out cylinder, shift forks are between trans stack and shift drum.
Clutch assy on the other side of the motor, between crank and forward trans stack. Countershaft sprocket sits on the rear shaft on this side. Shift star and lever pawl on the other side.
And that's just about everything in the bottom end of the motor. Nothing to it.
>>873674
It's my boss's bike lol
>>867518
It's basically an ATV with a roof.
>>873732
The gears in the trucks always get rounded off too after half a million miles of driving. Newer trucks, you have to be nice and precise with floating the gears. But then hop in a fleet truck with 650k on the odometer and you can jam the gears in when you are like 250rpm off of where you should be. And 250rpm is a lot in those because operating range is like 1000rpm to 1900rpm.

Had to deal with the classic list of rear drum brake issues on my '82 Big Red last night:
- Old brake pad separates from shoe due to water corrosion and seal/gasket failure
- Separated brake pad jams itself between shoe and drum, rear wheels completely locked in place
- Brake arm/cam seized
- Rear brake drum seized onto axle at the splines
Happened while I was unloading, rolling it backwards down the ramp in neutral, both rear wheels suddenly seized up completely to the point where I was unable to roll it forward or backward. Jacked it up, took off the wheel and drum cover, peeked in through the holes on the drum, and it was immediately apparent that something was jammed between the shoe and drum.
>>879007
Once the drum was off the corroded pad fell right out, still in one piece and probably only 50% worn down, allowing the wheels to once again turn freely. I don't think it's fair to blame the product in a case like this, anything will fail with enough exposure to water, dirt, and erosion.
Any of you ever had rear drums fail so hard that your rear wheels locked up?
