Yet another National Landmark destroyed.

>Lnt.
Fuck you blamers! It's mud, it will recover.
>>861141
Just pour some water on it and start from scratch
>>861141
>Name the place racetrack
>get mad when someone drives on it
I have some news for you....
>>861141
A shitty dried lake is a landmark to you guys? It's so shitty the water didn't even want to stay lel.
>>861141
>iain'tclickingdatshit.jpg
>>861141
Dude, in a few weeks it'll be gone from just the wind alone. Typical dumb ass.
>>861141
Really nigger? Really. Its fucking dried mud and some tire tracks. It will disappear in like what? A month. Kys. Clickbait fag.
Op here. The Racetrack playa is one of only a couple of places on this planet where there are sailing stones. I was out there last spring and Death Valley is a place unique to this earth. It's also fairly remote which helps to preserve it. Rednecks who want to rip up some land have millions of acres to chose from. Sure it'll be healed within a decade, but for anyone making the trip now it is ruined.
>the worst kind of people.
> The middle parking lot offered even greater horrors. Whoever did this, they really had zero consideration for anyone else.
Oooh driving in a parking lot so bad. Why do these freaks expect people to care about the environment when the whole world is crashing down on us. They are driving off a cliff as fast as possible while they gripe about made up issues. These people will brag about recycling as they drive 10 miles in an SUV to drop off empty imported wine bottles.
>>861141
probably a park service government vehicle or a approved concessionaire. They get to break all the park rules and drive where ever they want. Here they drive down all the beaches closed to people to even walk on.
>>861388
Dubs of truth
Fucking plebs don't understand the desert
>>861390
Quit being stupid
>>861291
>Sure it'll be healed within a decade, but for anyone making the trip now it is ruined.
Try one good rain anon.
Its nothing
This is horrible. why do they allow people to drive on this fragile ecosystem when it obviously bothers people?
>>861466
>One good rain
>The dessert
So about a decade then?
Whoever did this is an environmental hero.
Just think of the hordes of granolas in their Hummers who won't drive hundreds of miles to polute mother nature and put up signs everywhere and scold people
>>861575
>Granolas
>Hummers
>>861474
You dont know shit about the desert do you
>>861416
Why do I hate this shit so much?
This is pretty fucked. But I guess I could see how this happened.
>hurr guys there's a place in the desert called the racetrack
>ret's go
>>861703
Death Valley is one of the driest places on the planet. It has to do with a convection cycle of the wind which evaporates clouds and causes the extreme temperatures. It is like once a decade when it gets a good rain... Hence why you hear about Death Valley super blooms in the news. Is one good rain enough to wipe ruts clean? maybe, maybe not.
>>861775
Not true at all.
Those super blooms are from a series of rains in succession.
Are you just making stuff up off the top of your head?
That racetrack will be fine by next year.
>>861400
Really I see government employees drive down my Beach all day. I am not allowed to walk on it because it is closed to the public for the endangered snowy plover.
>>861886
Yes, but there's a purpose to that in that they are doing some sort of work. The NPS isn't going to disturb a resource without good reason because they are held accountable for that resource and, most people who work at parks actually care about the park they are in. If they didn't, they wouldn't be there because the pay isn't that great.
What you're asking me to believe with your post is that the culprit is more likely to be an employee at Death Valley, who for sure knows about the raceway and what makes it so special, rather than someone from the public, who have repeatedly shown that they can't even use common sense or respect the resources in the park (see Yellowstone).
>>861978
>The NPS isn't going to disturb a resource without good reason because they are held accountable
tell us more about those government employees being accountable for their actions anon
>>861996
So you can prove they were just joy riding on the beach, then?
>>861838
Did you read the article? The author mentions and shows tracks that had been left several years ago. They're faded, but they're still very clear. It will take more than one good rain to wash it away.
>>862068
So hose it with a fire hose and rake the mud.
Shape nature to your definition until you are satisfied.
I do.
>all right, we don't want people to ever drive on this fragile bit of land
>what should we call it?
>i know, let's call it the race track!
>>862068
Some guys blog post is not an article
>>861996
Do you really want me to go through the minutiae of the reporting we have to do and talk about special projects work?
>>861141
Wouldn't it be cool to leave deadend tracks by backing up?
And then drop two massive shits at the end of the tracks?
People would be like, these huge turds left these skid marks, wtf?
Fucking epic!

No, I want you to give me examples of government employees being held accountable. Did Hillary go to prison? Did those cunts at the EPA who destroyed 100 miles of river go to jail? No they got bonuses as did the NPS and BLM geniuses who cause these massive Forrest fires every year
>>862306
I'm with you, buddy!
>>862306
>EPA river
>Bonuses to NPS and BLM employees
So you are a moron. Got it.

What you're alluding to is probably the SES awards, which now only apply to the top rated few percent of senior government employees, and the presidential service awards which don't happen anymore. There's also a cap on the amount you can receive (this got implemented in 2014 I think). Rank and file employees usually get offered a vacation day or two or maybe close to $250, which is far below what businesses hand out. In fact in both articles you cited, there are people discussing that side of the story in the comments.
Neither stories mention bribery, which makes sense, because the government bribing itself is just an idiotic idea.
>>861416
Even hunting guide and First Lite hunting apparel employee, Ryan Callaghan, thinks they're fucking dumb.
>>862546
Additionally, the Anima river already had a history of heavy metal contamination with all the mining activity in the area. The spill was found to not negatively impact the health of the river precisely because it wasn't that pristine to begin with. Was it a fuck up? Yes. Was it as big of a fuck as you constantly make it out to be? Nope. Also, the EPA had contracted the mine clean up work out and it was the contractor who did the fucking up.
>>862561
>The EPA found the EPA innocent and thus the bribes were proper
>>861416
>>862602
Never said that.
Also, how do you think these supposed "bribes" work? You keep saying it, but I don't think you actually know what a bribe is.
>>861577
then g wagon
>>862561
> if a girl's been raped it's okay to rape her again
>>861141
Look at those tracks.
They were trying to be responsible and carry their truck as much as they could.
You ever pick up a friggin truck?!
I'd say its impressive they carried it as far as they did.
oh noes
even the damn rocks are vandalizing the place.
what do?
>>861143
Agreed
>>861416
This makes me so furious.
>>862755
>rivers are human beins
>>861471
>fragile ecosystem
LOL
>>861978
>government
>held accountable for anything
kek that's a funny joke
>>861390
They do get to drive places others can't, duh. But they still avoid sensitive resource areas.
>>863366
That's the issue. They profit at the expense of citizens and they are allowed privileges which they abuse. This vandalism was certainly caused by a park employee or concessionaire and they even know who did it.. That's why there is nothing in the news. It's be covered up
>>863345
its called voting
So having read this whole thread, and having seen the faggotry posted by people who think vandalism like this is funny, it must be asked; when did so many /pol/ crossboarders start fanning out into the rest of 4chan to try and proselytize?
>>863404
>Everything is a conspiracy!!!
Okay
>>863432
/pol/ is satire, but that invariably attracts retards who can't tell that is satire
>>861727
Because you have autism
>>863424
Democracy doesn't work when everyone can vote.
Prove me wrong
>>863432
It's a movement. Get on board or get run over.
>>863504
True
>>863533
No, it's not a movement. It only thinks it is, because it fails to realize 90% of it's so called "supporters" aren't actually voting age; just edgy pre-teen/early teenage boys who chuckle at typing nigger into google, and are being hateful and contrary for the sake of getting attention.
Any movement that depends upon vitriol from edgy teenagers is doomed to burn out.
>>863573
You must be young enough to think that trends last forever. The world is tiring if your faggottry and you will have to endure the next 40 years of your life having your cherished beliefs being shattered.
>>863621
>Implying your current edgy teenager "movement" isn't a trend
Kek. Live another decade or so and graduate high school before you start calling people children.
>>863686
>Trump is an edgy teenager
My children have already graduated college and are certainly older than you. It warms my heart knowing that the rest of your life will be spent in a trumpertantrum rage.
>>863785
Is it weird having kids with your cousin when you're 12 or is that pretty normal for where you come from?
>>861471
Your house was built on a "fragile ecosystem" The petroleum products in your phone and computer come from a "fragile ecosystem"
>>861141
Nature belongs to everyone, not just the people who want to ban people from touching it.
>>863809
Is it weird that you leftists have to resort to childish stereotype insults when faced with your inevitable november apocalypse?
I tell ya son, my town's gonna be on flood watch. Not from no hurricane, but from butthurt liberals crying out to the universe in their eternal BTFO. The scribes shall write of that day forever more, and tell the generations to come of the cataclysmic democrat anal ravaging.
>>863820
>Is rude and calls people names all throughout the thread
>Whines when someone does it to him
You really have no cause to complain. If you're going to be a shithead, don't expect people to be nice to you back.
>>863818
She had a right purdy mouth on her I tell you what. Reminded me of my ol' pig Bertha that Papa made me slaughter when she became pregnant awhile after a sweet night of love making. Papa told me that's it's alright to have urges for the livestock, but any resulting sires is an unnatural abomination to the lord and should be dealt with.
I do miss Bertha.
>>863818
where I come from, if the government hears that gravity moves rocks, they close the area down because it's unsafe.
It's just dirt. Was this someplace special or some shit?
>>863970
Yeah it was special. It was a nice private area with thermal pools and cosmic energy for well connected people to get away from it all. Until one spoilt little bitch forgot how to get there and said fuck it and blazed a new path.
The tracks are already gone by the way
>>861141
>Yet another National Landmark destroyed.
destroyed? you really mean vandalized don't you?
>>863970
The rocks will move across the ground of their own accord sometimes, leaving trails behind them. Hence they are referred to as the racing rocks, and the area they're on as the racetrack.
>>864293
Very simple then, the windblown rocks made these tracks. Once again the granolas are out of their minds
>>864304
>Muh granola
>>864304
It's my understanding that it's not the wind, but instead related to the rain cycles, otherwise the rocks wouldn't leave dragging trails behind them, but uneven rolling trails.
>>861416
Honestly, think of the time it took to balance all those. Should still clean up after taking the picture, though.
Is there something special about this huge, flat, empty area that I'm missing? Endangered bacteria? nesting ground for a species of bird? Is there ANY reason to give half a shit besides faggots whining that they don't feel like a frontier explorer when they go on a day trip?
>>866062
It's a nesting area for Californians looking to get pozzed up
>>866062
sailing stones
>>862755
> boner commencing
>>862555
Cairns are incredibly useful when mountaineering; people use them to mark trails. They're typically about the size of the pic you posted, and unless you have a perfect knowledge of the area + detailed topos, cairns are very helpful.
Stop being a faggot plz
>>862155
Uh, we will. Thanks.
Took a trip out there over the weekend.
The worst of the damage is up at the north end of the playa. Some of it isn't on the NPS damage report - either new or they didn't list it.
>>861291
I wouldn't call it ruined. When I went a few years back someone went slaloming around the rocks closest to the south parking area. That was fucked up. Now those old track marks are gone, but so are most of those stones in that area.
>>861198
Still seeing tracks made when I visited 4 years ago. This shit takes a while to go away.
Believe it or not it does rain in death valley and this will be perfectly washed away after one such rain.
>>861141
