is the snugpak brand any good?
specifically the snugpak stratosphere?
I'm looking for a minimalist tent/bivvy
and was wondering if these were any good

>2kg for a bag AND tent
It's going to abrade like crazy and will only be good for 60+ degree weather.
Just get a hammock. Less than $100 and 2 pounds. Everyone swears by them except that Pepsifag
I used an REI quarter dome when I did a 5 day solo hike in Colorado, and it was super comfy. It was sturdy enough to survive a hailstorm pretty easily, and roomy enough to make things quite comfy. It's ~2 pounds, but it's about as minimalist as a solo tent gets.

I bought a Rab Ridge Master bivvy tent when it was on sale about three years ago. It's done the job well.
If you're claustrophobic, then might be a good idea to stay away from these things. It's like sleeping in a coffin and you'd better make sure that your gear can be stowed in a safe and dry place, because you sure as shit wont be storing it in the tent either.
Unless you happen to be a complete manlet and have all the spare room you'll ever need.

I was issued one.
Not exactly appropriate for military use, but otherwise a nice piece of kit.
I usually just use it as a bivvy bag, without the dome and straps - for the sake of speed of packing.
Have used it as intended in civilian events - not bad, enough room for even a tall bloke like myself (6 foot 4).
Really is waterproof, have had to sleep in it in what was essentially a snowy puddle on winter - not a drop got through.
Biggest con - the material is quite thin, thus i am always paranoid about piercing it on a twig.
I was also issued the Snugpak Arctica sleeping bag - slept outside in it in -27C no problem. Again - quite roomy even for me.
And also have the Snugpak Sasquatch jacket & trouser combo. The trousers are useless, but the jacket is great. Keep it in the bag for when stopped - like a great big hug. Warms you and makes you feel happy.
Overall Snugpak is quality kit, as far as I can evaluate.
