Sup /out/, any of you grow edible mushrooms? I'm interested in using the brown rice flour setup, but it seems that no store in my town sells vermiculite or perlite. Any advice?

tried using a mushroom kit once, for oyster mushrooms. it's all fun and games the first time until you realize they're a pain in the ass and you can only get 2 crops out of them.
if I were you, I would just learn how to forage for mushrooms. you're probably going to find some in your local park, and it pays off more than having them grow in your home (which hardly ever works out the way you intend it to).

But for a small intro: you can buy verm, perl, and pre-pasturized substrate from various vendors, as well as still air boxes (just make your own). Spore vendors will sell you syringes with 20+ inoculations for cheap, and then you can reuse your spores for the next cycle.
Don't use brown rice, you'll get shit yields. Stick to rye berries or another rich grain.
RR's "Let's Grow Mushrooms" will get you through the basic processes.
I just got some spawn last week from http://mushroombox.co.uk/ Haven't started them yet but they say to use toilet roll or woodchip/straw
