Just got this baby. How did I do, /out/?
General /out/ wristwatch thread.
>>836423
Besides screaming "I have autism!", what else does all the other shit on those watches do?
>>836426
other shit
>>836429
Still figuring it all out I see
I only wear digital as the ticking will drive me nuts
and stick to cheap ones that can be easily replaced; the one I've had for years has good battery life and keeps good time
>>836432
Yeah, sort of.
Did you know this thing can tell the time, too?
>>836423
>he doesn't have a suunto traverse
>>836461
That's pretty cool.
I tell time with my phone. But I break out my G-Shock when I have to go to the mall on a Saturday afternoon and want crowds to avoid me.
>>836462
>$500 watch
inb4 poorfag
>>836463
But anon if you're handsome then an autistic watch turns into a masculine outdoorsman watch
>>836463
>I tell time with my phone
How hipster of you. You don't swim, dive, sail or kayak, I take it.
>>836463
Why are you even on this fucking board?

>>836529
I'm here for the knife threads
>>836538
This has to be bait
>>836423
Did great love mine
>>836423
Very well I must say. I've had mine for 2 years. Here are my Casios.
>>836543
2/3 of all posts are bait anymore
>>836579
I have the one on the left, and its the worse casio I ever saw. Garbage. Do NOT buy it.
Have a Timex Expedition that suddenly started fogging up every time I wear it in the rain. Can anyone recommend a good affordable waterproof analog? I like dive watch style and find the rotating bottom timer bezel quite useful for timing other things,. but only need something waterproof enough for snorkeling and kayaking,
Digital is not an option, I haven't quite given up all hope of finally getting laid someday.
>>836426
They do a lot of other shit. Mine is connected to my phone.
>>836423
You can't go wrong with one unless you buy a cheap one. From my experience the ones over 100 dollars are better quality. I love the two I currently have and I don't really give a shit about what anyone thinks. It's on your arm not theirs. They'll get over it.
>>836621
btw I'm looking at this:

Nobody got the joke anon, everyone just assumed you have the 'burgers.
>>836624
>3.46 MB, 5312x2988
nah dude
>>836423
i have a casio g-shock i got for free.
and guess what... it's inaccurate you need to frequently adjust the time and also not very durable i accidentally knocked a little to a door and the display got rekt from the shock needed to be replaced after 3 years and warranty did not cover it.
if casio had better warranty for them i would recommend but most of them are expensive for plastic crap and prone to get damaged despite the name.
>>836463
>I go the mall on a Saturday afternoon
Please leave
>>836538
>wristlets mad that they don't have the girth to rock a Casio Frogman.
You should be mad: because women love a guy with thick wrists and big hands. It's like a foot fetish for them except all of them have it.
>>836664
dude the frogman is the same size as any large g-shock model (anything 100) it also handles the same pressure btw 20 bar is roughly 200m.
>>836621
>I need analog watch to get laid
>>836646

>>836711
no it's the truth i wear a casio g-shock erry day but don't recommend paying money for it.
for free it is excellent if a bit ugly.
might aswell post my casios
>>836439
Only cheap analogs tick loudly. A decent watch shouldn't other you at all.
Timex are kinda the worst offenders, which sucks because everything else about them is good.
>>836737
Wait, are you seriously not making a joke? You're saying that g shocks aren't durable and they don't keep correct time even though many of them have atomic timekeeping and are digital anyways?
>>837070
Ignore the bait
>>836518
"All still ticking, unlike their previous owners"
>>836579
My nig
>>837070
i have a basic model it does not update by radio it is inaccurate by several minutes per year. not seconds minutes.
and not very durable either.
so no you can probably do better for the price.
>>837072
it's my honest advice to avoid them. i had old casios that withstood more shit and were more accurate. one of my watch was lost for 3 years i found it after it spend summers and winters under the open sky and it still worked and showed the time. i had it for almost 20 years but i couldn't get wristband for it anymore. faggot casio stopped making it.
>>836426
1916: After a good century of pocket watches the reality of the first world war forces the adaption of watches worn on one's wrist
2016:
Some faggot on /out/ claims that wristwatches are autistic and that he can check the time by looking at his phone - pulling out of his pocket.
Hang yoursefl you giant bert-ass faggot.
>>837369
There's a difference between a G-Shock and something like pic related if you want to look like a normal human bean.
>>837369
Anyone that does actual or participates in real activities including /out/ stuff should know that having that monstrosity on your wrist is a good way to lose your hand or your arm when you snag that.
Any true /out/doorman will have a bare wrist for that reason.

lmao analog fags
>your watch isn't solar powered
>a broken face renders it useless
>>837398
>autistically thinking that a strap pin is very strong
this i can rip a watch wrist band apart with two fingers (one on each hand).
>>837489
Which is why most machine shops instantly fire anyone who forgets the rule.
No warning,
Also, check with anyone that has worked ER. I bet anything they have a different story about the effectiveness of relying on something to break when things go wrong.
>>836423
Besides the fact that it's digital, it's breddy gud. I'd spring for analog, though.
Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Had a previous Timex Expedition but it had a goofy ring around the rim, like the one divers twist to remind them when to surface, except it didn't move. I didn't mind, but when I was swimming in Florida a couple of months ago salt got inside of it and the light stopped working. This is pretty much the same, but a newer model. Would recommend.
>>837495
You're a shitposting idiot. What's going to happen when you're just fucking backpacking? I could maybe see the point for something actually potentially dangerous like sailing, but that doesn't stop sailors from wearing watches.
My daily driver. It was a gift from my ex girlfriend. I own a Tag Hauer F1 in all black and red.
>>837521
Here's my other watch. Sorry for stock image. I don't wear it often cause it cost me $2300 USD.
>>836579
I want that one on the right desu
>>837520
>What's going to happen when you're just fucking backpacking?
Spoken like someone who has never had any sort of accident.
I'm pretty sure most people carry a FAK even though they are basically just going for a walk.
>>837527
Christ, man...
>>837495
dude i can rip the strongest zip tie commercially sold (i think 450lbs tensile strength) it hurts a lot if you do it wrong sure, but it's doable. wrist watch bands on general don't have the fraction of that strength especially the pins.
>>836423
The definitive virginity protector.

>>837574
Just reminds me of my dad telling me horror stories about guys who decided to wear their watches or wedding rings while working on electrical panels and shit.
>>837539
I've never snagged my watch on heavy machinery while walking through a meadow if that's what you mean.
This argument is stupid. You're stupid.
>>837584
i have snapped a few bands to know the can't withstand shit.
they are specifically designed to fail before they cause any damage.

I bet a broken face would render YOU useless gg senpai

>>837397
Say bro, when you buy hiking pants, do you have to get special ones so theres enoug space between the legs for your giant pussy?
>>837495
Dude, its about hiking in the woods. We are not talking about wearing watches in machine shops.
>>837556
This here. And you know whats even worse?
The same guys here who call watches autistic or even dangerous are the ones who post in the other thread about men's ponytails and long beards.
EDC master race.
>>837604
>all those steps just to power your watch
>sun shines on watch
That's it.
>>837967
You have to admit though, the G shock IS pretty spergy.
>>838005
I disagree. It honestly doesn't look bad at all. Maybe the reason it has that reputation is because spergy people stereotypically wear digital watches, I don't know. If you're handsome, then pretty much nothing is spergy or autistic or cringey. If you're fat or ugly, then dressing with sketchers and g shocks is autistic, but so is trying to dress nicely.
its pretty good,
helps me keep track of time and remever left from right
>>838005
No, I dont. I find them highly useful:
They are cheap so I dont have to care about fucking them up
They are incredibly robust
They have (depending on model) tons of useful /out/door features, with a simple stopwatch as the most basic one
>>838007
It's not that, i've seen and owned some nice digitals and I can even appreciate functional ugliness. It's just got too many dials and slogans (Triple sensor! Protection!) and the case looks lumpy and gratuitously overbuilt, so to me it looks cheap and gimmicky even if it's actually an excellent watch.
I wasn't the one originally calling it autistic though, and I don't care what other people wear, I just don't want one myself.
I'm on the fence about G-Shocks, I've served 7 years now in my nations military and I was given my G-Shock by my dad before I left for basic and its been with me through countless deployments - Still hasn't broken on me. It does its job, tells time, has an alarm, tells me tides, has atomic time adjustment for when I travel into different time zones and has more regional time zone settings than I have use for. But first and foremost its seen salt water, fresh water, countless chemicals, paints, cordite, blood, puss, every bodily fluid you can name etc etc and has been bumped, dropped and thoroughly abused. But still it keeps doing its job without needing a single repair.
Unless you need a rugged as fuck watch and just want to look like a poser then yeah go ahead and slap on a bulky g-shock to look hardcore, but until you get some scratches, dents in the plastic and put some hard wear on it then why bother. Why bother having a set of boots you never want to bash? Why have a 4x4 for urban driving? Get a watch that suits your damn purpose. That being said Suuntos are pretty neat-o, my old G-Shock is sentimental and well worn.
Bite my dangle!
Anyone here use a T-Touch? Howz about them solar models?
>>838002
Riiight and riddle me this my dude what do you do when it's cloudy out
I ordered a DW Classic St. Mawes last week, i dun gud?
>>838096
A fully charged battery lasts well over 30 months. So, unless were stuck in a perpetual cloudy day, it'll be all right. Anyways, it's really obvious you're baiting me, but I'm just gonna respond anyways
>>837374
That watch is not normal, it has no numbers. How can you tell the time? Why not have something like pic related?
I've been wanting a new watch. Help me decide.
This G-shock or...
>>838433
or this luminox
>>837590
>when did cheap-ass casios stop being terrorist shitstain watches that not even poor college students in the 80s would be caught dead wearing and when did they become cool hipster statement pieces?
Fuck you, you raging spaz, it was a present from my wife who doesn't know shit about watches.
>>837957
>Why?
I find the option of having several time zones useless, but I wouldn't care, if not the fact that they are switched between by right-botom button, which I kept pushing accidentally every time I twisted my wrist 90 degrees. I ended up glueing it with superglue so it doesnt move. The light is a peace of shit. The wrist band is scratchy and I had to soften the sides with lighter. The belt loops are from round wire and slide when trying to slip in the band. The glass is from shitty plastic and isn't protected by anything, it's already scratched, even though I don't wear it too often, becaue it sticks out.
Overall, it's a huge dissapointment, I generally love Casio wrist watches, wife knew it, but chose the present poorly.
>>837544
There is no way you can rip a zip tie.
i have a g-shock now and dont like it
i want my old watch back :(
ripcul trestles tidesearch, it told me the tide and lunar phase of my local area in real time :'(
>'rated to 100m'
>freedive to 15m
>watch is destroyed
at least the g-shock can actually go underwater
>i miss u tide search ;_;
The Nixon rerun use to be a good watch until the 2015, when their manufacturing process changed. I've learned that if you like something, buy a lot of it when you can.
>>837432
Looking to get a Suunto core crush. How good are suuntos in general? I'm looking to get a watch soon and I need:
Waterproof to 20m real depth (at least, better 40)
Analog setting possible, not just digital (core crush doesn't have that afaik)
compass (not obligatory, can do without)
alarm
That's all I need from a watch. Which one would suit these /out/ist needs?
I'm not big on analog, or timex, but for some reason I can't get this off my wrist. As far as the ticking, I can't hear it unless I put it up to my head.
>>838433
>>838434
That G-Shock is horrendous, just saying. You definitely need a nato strap with that luminox. It's looks a bit ridiculous too, but less so with a proper strap.
>there are thousands of watches out there and you picked up those two.
>>836423
>How did I do?
plebe tier OP
>>838921
b-but you told me you loved it, sweetie
>>838926
i have done it before both hands tied at the wrist.
it's actually fairly simple and even some woman can do it.
>>839047
i have also opened magnetic locks rated from 900kg to 1200kg.
tensile strength and contact force really is a scam if you think about stopping a human from doing anything you need to greatly over-engineer everything. shoot for a 100 times what a human can lift or move because a mere 10 times is not gonna cut it.
>>838977
desu they both look cool to me. i like the look of the luminox more but the g-shock seems like it'd be a lot more useful

It's true. Once I was in hospital for surgery. There was this very old lady with dementia, harmless, skinny, her hands ware like sticks. When she came from some surgery, and woke up, she went batshit insane, dementia & sedative must have caused it. She ripped of her bandages, started screaming and ripping out her intestines, and it literally took 5 nurses to subdue her, she almost gauged eyes of one of the nurses. Its amazing, what human body is capable of.

Nice Breitling on the NATO
>>836423
a real /out/doorsman can tell the time and date by smell alone
>>837397
I have the same watch as OP. Any water activity and its strapped straight on the PFD. Only snag I've had is it can be awkward putting on a hiking pack.
>>836774
will buy this one someday
>>838433
i have this one, it's llike a if not exactly a luminox but with a different trademark or something.

>>838433
>>839386
for example:

what i honestly want right now (if only could actually pay 40 dollars instead of 170+ where i live..)
>>837435
All I have to do is wear mine in an illuminated area, and it's good to go.
If I somehow managed to crack my watch, it would still be readable, and I would just have to replace the glass.
What essentials should a good watch have for a few month long expedition besides being waterproof? What is a heavy duty/durable model?? Thanks!
I'd prefer analog. And if anyone knows of a 24 hr analog I'd be ecstatically grateful. I've been wanting one for a very long time.
>>838927
dang dude sorry to hear. couldn't you just buy another tide search though?
>>837495
I've worked as a paramedic for 13 years and in an ER for 9 of those years. I've never seen a watch related injury.
What is /out/'s opinion of this? Cheap enough not to worry about. I'd like a watch with an altimeter, just to kind of tell what kind of elevation I gain on my hikes.
>>839853
what model it that?
>>839897
Casio SGW300HB-3AVCF
Found it on amazon. Not sure if it's any good.
>>839908
I don't mind it a little bulky if it works, and lasts. It doesn't look as bad as some of the bigger gshocks
>>836423
Got a 30$ Q&Q: looks similar to yours, does all i need it to. should i accidentally break it ... big whoob, buy another one. Has worked 2Y without a flaw.
