Any advice on a rope saw/pocket saw? What are some reliable brands?
They are all pretty shit.
Just take a silky or laplander folding saw

Get a chainsaw.

They work okay, especially if you're trying to cut something you don't have good access to.... like a stump or tree under a few feet of snow, that your snowmobile's hung up on.
I typically prefer a folding saw. The coghlans ones are cheap enough I don't care if I lose/break it.

I got a cheap one from Amazon. It was cheap so I thought it garbage but it cuts through wood so good it cracks me up. It needs sharpening though.

I have a similar motherfucker, only with plastic grips. It cuts trunks like crazy, like, a 15cm tree will take you less than minute to cut. Bare in mind though, it's not ment for precise jobs, mostly trunks, and if it's wider rhan 20cm, you might need 2 people, otherwise it gets stuck. Also, it's not as light as you think, certainly not lighter than a regular saw, which is flat and will easily fit in backpack.
P.S.
String saws are complety useless.

Only if you don't know how to use them. Most people don't and break them near instantly.
Also, if you are getting your saws, of any kind, stuck, it is because you are not following normal tree felling 101 procedures.

Where's the atv?

No one mentioned an ATV.
ATV =/= ATV enthusiast
Snowmobile drivers are normally full on ATV enthusiasts and have at least 3 other vehicles from 4-wheelers to dirt bikes.
