I bought a piece of shit 2600mAh from walmart for $5. Wouldnt charge my phone past 30%. I use my phone for taking pictures/videos, gps, etc.
Since I do a lot of long distance hikes I would prefer something small and light that can charge a galaxy s6 2 or 3 times.
I have never tried portable solar panels. If you have experience with those any information would be appreciated.

Buy an Anker
Seconded for Anker, get one of those 26,000mAh ones if a 2600mAh only charged your 2550mAh 30% and you want 2-3 full charges.
i use the powermonkey extreme, few sunny days around my parts so i mostly use the powerbank and rarely get to use the solarpanel but it is functional and surprisingly good.
>I would prefer something small and light that can charge a galaxy s6 2 or 3 times.
i think my powermonkey can charge my samsung s5 about 3 times maybe? but thats with using it while charging a bit i guess, but its by no means small or light weight so i guess it depends on what you mean by small or light weight

My understanding is solar panels are pretty much useless unless they’re fairly large, otherwise they need to be in stationary and direct sunlight for hours on end.
Also, I remember someone here (or maybe on /diy/?) who recommended a portable mini-power pack that used replaceable and rechargeable AA Panasonic NCR18650B Li-ion batteries, but I can’t seem to find a pic of what he was talking about.
Amazon has a 10000mAh Anker power bank thats about the size of a deck of cards, weighs 4 oz and costs $19. Think I will get it.
Thanks for advise anons.

thats pretty big charger
>for you

This is getting absurd. AT is funding on trail chargers by imposing a fee to use the trail. Damn them....
Leave your f*ing cell phones and gps's, tablet, etc at home and "be out".
You guys are ridiculous.

Sorry you're so mad bro. I just like to take pictures/videos. Its not like im using my phone to watch netflix while /out/. Here have a picture of some wild ponies from my last trip to the Grayson Highlands.

I found something like that anon had described; it uses four AA batteries and if you use the Panasonic rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, you can keep the phone charged with wasting money on replacement batteries.

>everyone has to /out/ by my rules
No thanks.
I carry my phone on hikes but almost never take it out of my pack. I sometimes see people on the trail taking pics or staring at their phones during a stop, but thar doesn't affect my good time so I don't really care.
If some trail somewhere tries to put a use fee on me, for something I don't use, I'll probably hike elsewhere.

I got a chip 10,000 mAh for 30 dollars on sale. It can be done.

I know right?
It's not going /out/ unless you go fully naked with no gear. I'm actually considering cutting my left arm off to make it even more challenging.
