My friend and I have never been overnight camping before and we were going to try camping/hiking in Sequoia, as we live in Los Angeles, so we need as much advice as /out/ can give. What do we need to bring? Any campgrounds there that you can recommend? Trails? Food? Water?

I like the butter packs from KFC. They work great as single use lube and edible. A little goes a long way.
Me and a friends just finished or first backpacking trip in Sequoia. I would definitely recommend the lakes trail to pear lake. We spent a few days there but you could do it as a day hike. The Watchtower trail is great unless your really bad with heights.
You'll probably need to get a reservation now

if you're camping out of your car in a nat'l park, just go to rei or even walmart and get a 3 season tent. they'll be fine. for day hikes a school backpack with around 2 liters of water per person and whatever snacks you want would be fine. if you're planning on backpacking, go to rei and tell someone working there you need backpacking stuff. don't buy the most expensive stuff, but if you think you'll go out more, don't get the cheapest either.
#1 is to not overthink it. use your common sense. most of this shit is super easy. and if you leave food in your car, cover it. bears in california are clever

Lookie here, another tourist.
I have the misfortune of living in a town a stone's throw from the parks most popular entrance. I have to deal with you cocksluts EVERY FUCKING DAY with your huge ass RVs and gay ass Subaru Outbacks and shit, all dressed up in your Bear Grylls tacticool shit, pretending like you know where and what the fuck you're doing, being fuckwits in general.
Stay home.

hahahah!!! this made my day. I visit three rivers often when going to sequoia. love the town maybe ill move there in the future. what you going to do about it?
>>822986
honestly that town shouldn't even exist, its just another town full of old hags ready to die blocking out the entrance to the park.
>>821822
honest advice, don't go to sequoia on your first camping trip. go to angeles forest drive all the way up and camp there before the sierras.
>>823026
isn't that nearly every town in the US?
>>823024
Laugh, because another unfortunate soul fell for the lie that is Three Rivers

You gonna get clustered OP.
Three rivers and all the towns/cities in the central valley are fucking awful. Literally the shittiest areas of the entire country.
