When you say timber frame do you mean
>a house built with dimensional lumber (most houses, including the one in your pic, which looks like its frame is mostly 6x6s, but also the way its walls are constructed is strange cause it looks like its walls would be left open like in a stable but there are floor joists in the pic so idk)
>a house built with dimensional lumber hewn from trees cut on the property (much more expensive and time consuming, have to wait a year minimum after cutting to mill unless you pay to kiln dry which for you to do your own wood and get that back is very expensive, not much difference in finished product from first option)

What did you envision using for roof exterior and exterior cladding? What did you envision for foundation? What climate is this gonna be in?

Minnesota and I don't know. Really whatever ends up being the most cost effective for something I'm going to live in for a few years while I save up to further build. Lumber from the property is unlikely, the trees I've seen on it so far are all smaller birch and pine. Nothing large enough for the most part.

Pic was just something I had on hand, not what I'd envisioned for the most part.

Why do you want post and beam?
Regular framing is easier and way faster and you only need one person.

I do a bit and I'm basically from the third world europe (serbia). Pic is our typical country house: very simple to make without modern commodities and it used to be the standard until 70-80 years ago. Foundation is made of natural stones, walls floor and roof are all timber framed. Walls are wattle and daub and floor is made in a similar way: branches or split logs are nailed over the beams and everything is covered with dirt. Of course if you don't mind a dirt floor which is actually not so bad.

What do you expect the frame to look?
If you don't really care to make it all look square and orderly you can make the frame from green hewn timber and you can do it with just a chainsaw. As the wood dries it will move a bit but it will be strong.

What are your options for the roof?
