Ouch, just had a first experience with something that I think was a stinging nettle. Kinda freaked me out there for a minute. I'll definitely watch out for that in the future...

>stinging nettle
Dude, thats even healthy.
>first time
What?
These things grow all over the place where I live, every kid that plays outside comes in contact with them at one point.
Also, I remember how as a kid we were playing around with them and figuring out a ways to pluck them without getting stung and without wearing gloves.

getting stung is good for blood circulation and the leaves make for excellent tea

>go on trip to friends hunting cabin in Appalachian Virginia.
>we're about to go hiking
>friends wearing shorts
>tell him he may wanna consider pants because nettles
>he asks what a nettle is
>tell him it's a stinging plant that feels kinda like a jellyfish (he's from the coast)
>his dad laughs at me and tells me I've been living in the north too long, calling a sticker bush a "nettle".
>tell'em nettles aren't thorn bushes...
>later, as we're hiking, friend screams
>says he thinks something bit him and his legs are burning.
>laugh at him cause he's standing in wood nettles.
educating people about new plants they've never seen is fun...
