ITT post rocks, ores, etc
Gold panning also welcome
Got this nice sample in Five Islands Nova Scotia yesterday. I figure it's quartz with orange stilbite mixed in. Not 100% sure though
They're minerals, Marie.
Posted in the other thread but I might as well post it hear too. Found this in a quarry in upstate NY. Idk what it is maybe fluorite? Sorry for shit pics.
Another angle. The bottom layer actually has a thin coating of what I assume is pyrite that the fluorite formed on top of. I'll post another sample to show it.
Forgot the second angle
Here's a cave, i dont have any pics of my rocks..
The pyrite layer underneath
Hard to show the cleavage with this shit phone camera
Some shitty garnet from the same quarry
Left pretty much all my rocks in NY since I moved to North Carolina 3 weeks ago, but I know there's lots of cool shit to find here. Found this agate here the other day.
Found pic related on a recent field trip to northern Scotland
It's a piece of Torridonian sandstone with some pretty dank lenticular bedding in it
I had a really nice piece of amphibolite(?) with some lovely almost centimetre long crystals from one of the Scourie dykes but I lost it on the way home somehow
Also found this piece of breccia on a beach somewhere on the south of the Isle of Wight a few months ago
