anyone made a bottle fish trap like this and had succes?
any other easy traps in water to make?
il post what i have pictures
>>814408
how does this work? if a fish can swim in there surely it can swim out of it too?
something large like this would require more work and rope but could catch pretty large fish
>>814410
no, fish are retarded
>>814408
Ill post my shiner trap when I wake up later today. But in my state its "illegal" to have a cage trap in fresh water with an opening bigger then 1 inch. But shiners don't go in one inch holes. Even though they would fit. So the state can fuck off. I understand them not wanting you to trap game fish. But one inch is fucking tiny.
any easy traps for crayfish or crabs or things like that?
>>814412
Fucking lmao Im imagining the fish getting catapulted
>>814439
>oh what this? delicious bait?
>yummy om gonna eat tha-
>WUUUUUUUUUH
-sails through the air-
>c-caaahnt b-breeeath
-dies a horrifying death but the excitement of flying still flowing throught the tiny fish brain-

All you need is some hardware cloth and pliers to make those.
>>814452
was thinking more like building it out of natural materials
>>814408
Yep. Would get crawfish 9/10 times. Used a Vienna sausage for bait.
>>814469
Same thing, only woven. Just have a flat bottom and domed top. Use willow.

crawfish? really? in a bottle trap like that?
people usually use them for minnows and other small fish. do you really think crayfish could get in it?
>>814492
not him but if you use one of these 3L water bottles, or a 3L soda bottle (commonly found in walmarts and sam's clubs throughout Mearca) you can get craws pretty easily, or little crabs if used in estuaries and such. you want to set it up so they can get in easily (use a rock so they can climb right into the mouth, etc)
>>814516
but the opening pointing towards the sky? or the bottle on its side like a normal bottle trap? man i need to try this i love small shellfish
>>814519
no no you cut the bottles the same as OPs pic, they just have wider mouths is all so larger critters are encouraged to enter
>>814526
>>814519
pic of what i mean (little dirt/rock ramp to encourage them get up the plastic side)
>>814527
nice man, above and beyond with that pic dude. thanks!
>>814492
Yep. I put them out for minnows and small fish for bait and that's what I got. if it helps to picture the setting there was a pond right next to a shallow stream. Also in NC.
Before you go out and attempt to make these things you should check on the legality of it in your country/state. These >>814409 are illegal where I live and the methods of trapping bait fish and crayfish are heavily restricted.

Wait. Isn't the stream running from the bottom of your pic to the top? Is your trap set up backwards?
