I wish I didn't have to, but my dog was attacked by another dog that popped out of a wash and picked her up in its mouth and tried to break her neck. There are also coyotes in my neighborhood that are active in broad daylight, and while I don't want to shoot them for a variety of reasons, if they're desperate and hungry enough they might do something silly.

I'm honestly more concerned about my neighborhood than 'out' but it's a pretty minor inconvenience for a huge potential benefit (my dog remaining alive). I'm not at all concerned about humans. And yeah, she's very small. And I just carry a Glock 19, nothing huge or fancy.

Amazing island: west is arid, south volcanic desert, north and east more humid and with thick laurel jungle, high mountains (up tp 2400m)

Unique flora with really unusual species.
All kinds of tropical fruit: mangos, avocado, chirimoya, citrus fruit, lots! of almonds, bananas, papaya, big chestnut forest in higher altitudes with lots of mushrooms in them...
