You think I'd be all right in the wilderness for a few weeks?

Obviously I'd need to hunt and find fresh water but if I were lost in yosemite I think I'd be all right

Anyways come design your backpack

http://innawoods.net/

How many first aid kits do you need? Enjoy lugging around sacks of potatoes and bands of peas, sure looks like a nice meal. Jee that thermal jug sure seems light and like it will save you coffee for 3 weeks.
Enjoy a diet of crackers and cold potatoes.
Your character is not even wearing his fucking hat.
1/10, you have a axe and a tarp.

you guys are going to be pretty hungry soon

>>799227
you seem to not be getting the point of lots of the items
the hard tack offered the best weight/meal proportion the other stuff was for seasoning when I need it and the potatoes possibly for planting

the large med bag is just a regular bag
and the thermal jug is for transporting water, since its more durable than a water bottle and I'll need one permanently. And I have a camp stove too.

a good idea would have been cutting down on the non-food items but need to also keep as many water purifiers as possible and the other items were just bare survival minimums

It's been a long time since the last innawood pic I made.

So, I have a lifestraw in the first aid kit, lots of food and what I need to fish/hunt complementary meat plus a cozy camp.

>>799248
>No water, short on food
At least you will leave an excellent camp to the people who will find your dead body.

>>799253
It's not that bad at all, add some fishing gears or make traps.

>>799485
I like it. Maybe start with more food. Would survive with.
Would survive with.

You will be the very first one to die.

>>799249

If we only have to survive a few weeks, why would you plant potatoes?

Not sure about surviving for an unlimited amount of time but I could definitely survive a good few weeks in New Zealand wilderness. This is what I usually carry when I go /out/ hunting anyway.
>>
>>799249
>>799500
funny, I've gone /out/ with that. There's always food out here in NZ :)
>>
>>799500
I figure I'd immediately plant them and if after a few weeks I was still outdoors for whatever reason they'd be doing me a lot better than just eaten

Just helps odds of survival a bit
they're only a few meals apiece anyways not going to make much impact on what I could eat

Here's my setup. My thinking is that I'd set up my tent and drop my hunting pack in it, then use my messenger bag when I when out hunting or fishing. The ALICE pack is way overweight but I won't be carrying it much.

I have the MREs there in case I get lost while looking for food so I can always have something to use. Mostly I'd be eating the rice I have and whatever food I can get.

The shovel is for digging shit pits and Dakota fire holes.

>>799199
You can't hunt with a pistol, upgrade to a rifle.

>>799248
More food, maybe a rifle so you can hunt.

>>799230
You can't hunt with a handgun and 2 candy bars isn't enough food. You have a lighter and a pot so you can boil water but without a hatchet or axe you'll be limited to whatever dead wood you can find. With no tent or tarp you'll die of exposure if you sleep without improvised shelter which you'll probably not be able to set up.
>>799253
Good start but water is important, 2 bottles is nice but maybe go for more. It runs out fast.

>>799349
No.

>>799485
Pretty good, you might want some fishing gear and some rope to make snares

>>799492
Pretty good but that lighter will run out of fuel eventually, get a flint and steel or some matches. More water too.

>>799538
More bolts for the crossbow, more water, a compass, the lighter is going to run out so get a flint and steel, rope for snares, and a fishing kit.
>>
>>799579
I didn't take the handgun for hunting, I took it for protection from the bush maori. Plenty of food in the wild here, and breaking branches isn't too hard. But fuck my life I forgot the tent and sleeping bag
>>
>>799644

If you're outside trying to kill abos a rifle will let you kill them from far away and double as a hunting tool. Pistols are only good if you're inside.

Wild food might be safe but food you bring is.

Breaking branches isn't hard but you can't cut down a tree without an axe.

>>799652

>>
>>799741
>Need a decent knife

No I don't. My leatherman charge TTI has more than a sharp enough blade for anything I'd have to deal with in the wild.

>either a gun or a fishing rod and some cord for snares

A fishing rod, sure.

>Pretty good but that lighter will run out of fuel eventually, get a flint and steel or some matches. More water too.
Bics start a thousand fire before running out of gas, I think I will be fine. I have a filter for the water and two 1,5 liter bottles give me one day of autonomy. I just have to find a source every day and I think I can do that if I stay near the fishing spots.

Yours is not bad. I see you share my taste for good campsites and my "broken back" problem. Maybe you are carrying too much water. The MRE are too heavy for what they do, don't get lost or be ready to stay a day or two eating ants.

>>799698
It start to get good, you will surely need more water.

>>799796
Why would you do that?

>>799952
Basic but good enough. You have you chances. Pack more water/food and you are set.

So like where are we lost, in our local areas and in the current season? If that is it then damn that's just a nice normal vacation for me. But, like how can anyone get lost and stay lost in Yosemite for 2 weeks or even most anyplace in the civilized world?

How about a better scenario?

We are all lost in an alternate world (1 world per person in this thread, person totally alone). The only difference is that there's no humans or anything manmade anywhere. It is exactly the same as our local area and climate at the current time. There are no other biomes. (examples, If you currently live in a desert, the entire planet is a desert. If it is a tropical rain forest then the entire planet is a tropical rain forest.)

If you make it two YEARS then you get transported back to your home world to safety.

I live in a temperate rain forest (-40F winters 110F summers w/95% humidity max). Here's my two year layout. Heavy as hell and packed to the max (I may have missed a slot somewhere), but I'll just make a base camp and setup a potato farm immediately. Then get to work non-stop hunting, fishing, trapping, and gathering until I have enough food preserved to have time to make a small cabin, with fireplace, and pack in enough wood to last a few months. Then comfy time for winter.

>And as you might have already guessed, there will be no more updates.

I had to add wire snares because of that. Who goes innawoods without snares?

>>800173
The Long Dark does a very good job at showing you just how fucking important planning ahead is and how food is something most people take for granted.

>>800173

>>800076
>why would you do that
Well I've gone with that before. Less food and water mind you.
>>
>>800987
No. Men since the beginning were designed to work with nature, and submit to it. Since agriculture began, many things came: starvation, tragedies, droughts, famines, human weakness, slavery, malnutrition (due to eating one or two types of food only), war (one tribe, town or country had to fight for food when their harvest failed), stupidity (farmers were less likely do die when not planning ahead), tyranny (when one man had all the food, he could decide who to give that food), physical weakness (all it takes to gather crops is a few hand movements, while the hunter-gatherer had to hunt animals by even wrestling them).

I doubt mommy would pay for your 144 bottles of soylent in a survival situation, kiddo.

>>
>>803970
That game makes me depressed. I survived a month and it started to become even lonelier. I even named all the dead bodies.
>>
>>803988

Yeah it can get pretty lonely.

>A deer always grazes right outside of my shelter
>Be lonely and decide not to kill him
>Have fun scaring him every morning
>Start to run low on food and clothes are in worse and worse condition
>Things are looking dire but DeerBro always cheers me up
>One day I leave my shelter and wolves are eating DeerBro
>Use my last 2 remaining flares to scare away the wolf
>Skin DeerBro and harvest his meat, that fat fucker had like 15kg of meat.

And that is how Deerbro saved my life, I also made some nice boots out of his hide later.

And that is how Deerbro saved my life

Plan with this setup would be survival as long as possible in Eastern Canada's forests. This setup focuses on using my surroundings more than my gear itself with some small exclusions.

spraypaint: landmark marking, and important routes/places.
book&sharpie: This combo is for tracking any information I already knew or I'd pick up in my time innawoods.
potatoes: setting up a farm for steady food source
pickled sausage: easy food for first few days while I set up camp and I can use the jar later for other uses.
empty bags: storage for edible/medicinal plants/shrooms/anything. Multiple for good organization. (I don't have good knowledge on creating bags, but I'd later build baskets/clay pots if I manage to find the proper resources)
goggles: winter blizzards get intense up here, m8. I want to keep my eyes as safe as possible.
tent: I was caught between the tarp and the tent, but I figured for long-term I'd much rather prefer a tent.

Everything else should be self-explanatory for any sc/out/. And the whistle, well... Fuck you. I never leave my house without a whistle.

I have enough knowledge to sustain myself on foraging and trapping, so I decided to bring more rope and water storage for the long run instead of more short-term but proper foods/liquids. The toilet paper is also more for comfort the first few weeks until I find a proper alternative (should be easy, really).

I admit I have more book knowledge of medical treatments than actual experience, so I'd be more comfortable bringing in a proper doctor's bag instead of creating any primitive healing methods.

I also couldn't find arrows in the ammo, but I'd bring a fair amount of bolts and take proper care of them. I also have knowledge on making primitive arrows but I've never tried this with a crossbow before, so I guess it's a risk.

I ended up taking this pretty seriously for some reason, so any proper criticism is welcome. I realize half of these are just for fun but hell, it was fun to actually try with it.
