I tend to find BoB and preppers funny, here I have 50 snares with my bag. Meanwhile you use 1 snare you get 1 animal after that its trash, you May may MAYBE able to a second use out of them but those are few and rare. Most of them carry these AR's and so much ammo that its stupid. A trust 30/30 and 25 rounds and you got years worth of meat right there, They pack the stupidest things and the least useful. there are some things that are extremely hard to manufacture in the woods no matter how skilled you are

good luck making a head lamp or a radio in the woods

some people work day jobs and don't have time to bush craft all day

they live in places where natural events like earthquakes or tornadoes or tsunami's or cyclones are a real issue

and they may need to walk out of the affected area

as for prepping lots of people live in area's affected by storms that can put the power out for a week or blizzards that can cut off access to food for a week

as for the whole prepping for other reasons only fool thinks war doesn't exist

and or economic collapse doesn't occur

or that governments cant turn tyrannical or authoritarian

but a good example is you lose your job no fault of your own the business you worked for isn't doing well

and you have 3 months food and amenities stocked up that may be the difference between paying the bills and not have to worry about food and toilet paper, shampoo etc..

in all facets of society they talk about being prepared

ever heard of business continuity plans? i bet you haven't its a whole discipline on keeping a business core units running in the event of a catastrophy

Actually I have what I call a "bug out box," a medium-size Rubbermaid brand latching storage container, which I use all the time for camping. It's something I can throw in my car for impromptu weekend trips up to the mountains. It has food, water filters, camp stoves, tools, etc. It is always ready for an emergency, because I know and use its contents all the time. Throw in one or two each of several backpacks, tents and sleeping bags I have, and I'm off. I live in a place where, if I turn left out of my driveway, I'm in town, but if I turn right, the pavement ends in a few miles and "inna woods" I go. No "tacticool" stuff, no guns, just practical equipment. (I never got into hunting)

We're all "preppers" if we plan ahead, have a couple weeks worth of food in the house, maybe big sacks of rice and dried beans, and so forth. It doesn't take much and doesn't have to be associated with paranoia. Having this stuff is like having a spare tire in your car. Hope you never need it, but it's there.

I love doing shit myself so I am pretty well off, but in the event of a happening I would still struggle extremely hard to make it. It's fine to do "prepper" things, but when you let them dominate your identity something is wrong.

I can all but guarantee that I am more "prepared" than anyone else in this thread, and let me assure you that if I made it, it would be on sheer luck.
