Just bought pic related (not my photo tho) - how'd I do? I wanted an ABC watch and this was about the cheapest I could find (I'm usually an automatic guy)

I've had this fine-ass watch for about 8 years and it's still ticking. I love this motherfucker, reliable as all hell and it cost like $12. Before this I had the black version, which was also very nice, although not as durable.

A tip to everyone that uses Gshock from casio watches: if you want your wristbands and bezels to last much longer NEVER wash your gshock with soap or shampoo, never take showers or bath with then. The soap makes the plastic resin brittle faster. To clean your watch just brush it with an old toothbrush under running fresh water.

My current watch, a Gshock 9200 Riseman. I love the 12h pressure graph, helps a lot in tropical weather;

I've got a timex expedition as well, but it's minimalistic and analogue and has a brown leather strap. Pretty good buy, I like it a lot.

The casio pathfinder watches blow my fucking mind with how convoluted and complex the fucking range is. Knowing 'which is the best' is a cluster fuck.

Does anyone have any input on which casio with ABC and solar charging is the best?

I finally bouht this. After having a nuber of other watches, both solar and battery powered, mechanical, cheap and expensive; this ticks a lot of my boxes.

Vostok Amphibia 120695. Fist 3 numbers are for the case type, next 3 numbers are the dial style.
120 is great as it protects has additional crown protection so it doesn't snatch too much, and it has curved attachment points (where your strap goes). Some Amphibians have straight attachment points (you'll see if you do your research) making them stick out from your hand more.

Im in the process of changing out the dial (blue dude) as well as the back (skeleton) and the bracelet (blue to match the dude).

But a solar powered watch has a battery as well, these batteries go bad the same way a traditional battery does, but since they are used less often, they cost much more, so with the time passing, after years of use, the cost of using a solar powered watch and changing the batteries is very similar.

Mechanical is much less precise and costs a huge amount to service, solar quartz movement is the cheapest to own.

Even the best mechanicals have a 2 or 3 year service interval and that's the same as battery replacement intervals on the g-shocks but several times the cost.

Why bother with the time of day while /out/ unless you're a super distance hiker guy and you want to make sure you're keeping a good pace. I go /out/ so I don't have to worry about stuff like that, which I normally do have to worry about. Just look at the sun?
