My parents own a 3rd of a fancy holiday home.... They (well the architect who designed it) had one done, in the shape of a huge vase, made out of the slate the area used to mine. About 5 ft tall.

It cost, well i can't remember but quite a lot. Like £2k or something.

An artist who specialises in them did it. It's not held together by gravity (fuck, imagine a stray ball knocking a chunk out of it or whatever) but some sort of mortar.

In my opinion, having not been the one who paid for it, but as someone who admires it every time i go up there - it was worth it.
