Reasonably well. Food got hard to come by around day five but there is a good amount of rabbits and squirrels there so food wasn't that hard to come by.

Water was easy because I was 15 feet from a river which was nice, and the weather was pretty good. All in all a 8/10 /out/ experience; will do again.

For years I've been planning to do the same... until I realized that in my eurocountry there are not many places where you can settle without being eventually noticed more sooner than later.

My last candidate site was some woodland on the hills, a couple miles away from a small town. Going downhill there was a creek and then a train station of a secondary line (only a few couples of trains per day), and even some "inadvertently free" wifi from the town (I guessed that a well-placed high gain antenna was sufficient).

I rode that trains a number of times, only once I stopped there to have a walk in the town and another time -months later- to have a walk towards the woods (I did not want to leave hints to anyone, I left the cellphone home).

When I was almost "go", a number of sad events happened, including but not limited to:
- the bloke eventually switched to a new modem with a WPA password
- the train line Sulmona-Carpinone was shut down, all trains suppressed because of low traffic
- Police here busted a bad guy just by following his cellphone signal phase and strength (triangulation)
- a forest firefighters helicopter spotted a small house in the woods, and government went straight on the builder in a matter of milliseconds.

That is, "disappearing in the woods" is way more difficult than it used to be in the pre-internet pre-helicopter pre-cam era.

Not only you need to care about proper eating, hygiene, shelter, and so on - you have also to take considerable precautions against The Big Brother (including getting rid of cellphone and hiding spottable things like the solar panel, taking countermeasures for surveillance cameras nearby, casual helicopters, even town people afraid about that "weird and dangerous guy who just settled in the woods for no acceptable reason").

I also started learning some basic skills (cooking, growing vegetables, soldering...); took a full check-up, learnt showering/shaving while minimizing water usage, measuring my calories intake, loosing some weight...

I did not yet buy a camper, and everything in my NEET life did get better. It was not easy to get rid of my books, comics, bike, but in the end I felt that I only owh things that I need everyday. If you own a bike and only use it in a dozen spring/summer weekends, you actually don't own it, you just have a burden wasting space somewhere in your house.
