Perhaps my greatest pet peeve with /out is when someobdy posts a photo and doesn't tell us where it was taken.

Glacier National Park, doing a little off-roading up to a few hiking trails. Some old, historic cabins set in front of the mountains. Just traveled the country for a year and have thousands of pictures, but I have to resize them. Will post what I have and try and keep this thread bumped. I always love seeing what pics other people have taken. I've seen a few on this board that are absolutely stunning. I'm still trying to figure out the finer points of photography, just been fuckin around with the camera lately. Need to get a little more technical to get the most outta my pics.

Driving into a killer hailstorm in the Northeast part of New Mexico. Ended up being a full double rainbow over the road, it was sick. Had to pull over for a few hours though, lotsa tractor trailers skidding off of the road and people driving like lunatics. Enjoyed just readin a book and hoping my Jeep didn't get damaged by hail.

Arctic Fox with a fresh kill in Yellowstone. Didn't have the ideal setting on, and I had to snap the pictures super quickly. They're a bit oversaturated, but all in all I still think they turned out okay and foxes are cool.

Thanks man, I've seen a surprising amount of foxes in the past few months. Here's a little blackie in Yellowstone as well. Looked really healthy, his fur was actually quite pretty. This pic doesn't do him justice, but I didn't want to scare him off and bug him, so I kept a solid distance. This was actually just off the side of the road, but in a far less traveled part of northeast Yellowstone. He was pretty chill.

This was a nice sunset off the coast of Gold Beach, Oregon. Actually splurged on a nice hotel room right on the beach with a view, so this was from my balcony drinking some bourbon and reading a book. I miss the Oregon coast.

I went on another hike today. That's 3 in the past 4 days. The flowers are blooming now. For some reason my friend and I decided to go barefoot through the lake, the bottom of which is really painful rocks. Hurt, but was fun and the water was really refreshing. Also made my shoes 10x more comfy

I have a Nikon D3300. I use the stock lens and I bought a low-mid end telephoto lens for close ups and animals far away. I'm still figuring it out too. I really just use the pre-fab settings depending on what I'm taking a pic of. I haven't started messing around with customized settings and stuff. Takes a while to get used to, but I'm pretty happy with my results so far. Here's another one.

This is in Antelope Island State Park that borders Great Salt Lake. Hiked about 4 miles up and over this semi-mountain and had the entire back side of the island to myself. Was really gorgeous and lots of great birds and wildlife.

Thanks man, it was a gorgeous park. Felt more like a National Park than a state park. It's fucking huge.

This pic is from just outside of Grand Teton National Park. Pretty big hail/sleetstorm earlier in the day and it drove most people off of the road. Ended up going out in the evening and essentially had the entire park to myself (although most of it was still closed due to snow). Waited around for the sun to blow up the sky during sunset, but it never quite got as colorful as I expected. Still think the pic turned out well though, was really pretty.

Will bump with one more before I head out for the day. This was a small bunch of pines that got hit by lightning (or maybe a fire?) on the side of the road just outside of the NE exit of Yellowstone. Thought it was pretty cool.

I'd love to see some more contributions from some other /out/ photofags. I know it's a slow board, but I'm curious to see other parts of the world.

It's a great camera. My buddy has the 3200 and told me how much he loved it. I just got the updated version because I got a kinda package deal with accessories, case, etc. I think mine cost me like $650 total and I spent $80 more on a Japanese knock off telephoto lens. I have a box full of accessories that I've never used (external flash, tripod, cleaning shit, remote shutter, etc.). So I'm pretty happy with the deal I got. And as you mentioned, those cams have the flexibility to just point and shoot or really delve into and customize and save your own settings. Seems to be legitimately durable as well which was my main worry going into purchasing a camera. Might as well bump with another pic.

This one is off of the Pacific Coast Highway on the Oregon coast. The entire pic is kinda over-saturated, but I think the water looks awesome and the place itself was amazing.

Gonna do a dump from my time in Svalbard. This photo was taken on my iPhone 6. The rest were taken with my nikon d40. The pictures were taken over a period spanning from August to November. After that there was no Sun.

This was taken whilst doing field work at Kapp Linné. We were approaching the end of the polar summer and the lighting was just fantastic. From about 23:00 to 02:00 the sun would hover just above the horizon creating some spectacular sunsets(rises?)

A group of us camped next to a frozen lake at the bottom of a crater like formation in the mountains one weekend. During the night we took turns staying awake to keep an eye out for polar bears. It was cloudy and without moon or star light the area was pitch black. The wind would cause the newly forming ice on the surface of the lake to stretch and compress. I cannot describe how harrowing the noises that came of the lake and were thrown around the basin surrounding the lake. It's really not a good idea to be so fucking jumpy when you're clutching a loaded rifle. Luckily no polar bears showed up though :)
