Finally bought my first tent. Pic related, how hard did I fuck up?

It's gonna be mostly used for light weekend solo camping in spring and summer. I just wanted something small, practical, and simple to set up.
>>
>>767400
How much was it?
>>
>>767405
$45 but I paid $20 because I had a $25 gift card.
>>
>>767407
You did great then. It's a little on the heavy side but you can't beat that for the money. Good ventilation, probably condensation won't be an issue, lots of space to put all your stuff inside.

My only advice is to be smart about the wind direction when fixing it. Think ahead since the wind changes during the day and night.
>>
>>767400
If the doge likes it then its perfect
>>
>>767410
Yeah, I'm not too concerned about the weight since I won't be carrying it more than a couple miles max.
>>
>>767400
You'll quickly discover that people on this board vastly overpay for gear that they end up rarely using. You did fine. Enjoy!
>>
>>767400
Looks cozy to me
>>
>>767506
This times 100
I have a 4 year old coleman sundome I take whenever I go canoe camping (dont take it backpacking, fucker weighs 12 lbs). Its comfy as fuck. Paid $39.99 on sale at Walmart.
I remember seeing the hooligan online when I was shopping for a 2 man backpacking tent. IIRC it sets up with one pole correct? Would be interested how it holds up in windy conditions. I ended up getting a mountainsmith Morrison 2. No regrets.
>>
>>767506
and they're mean to people who don't overpay/use handmedowns and actualy use it :C
>>
>>767400
looks cumpfy and i covet that doggo
>>
>>767634
Yeah it's a simple one pole setup.

Not sure how it'll do in wind but it comes with tie down ropes from the factory allegedly so we'll see.
>>
>>767656
Got a pic without fly? That one pole setup is intriguing.

Here's a picture I found on google.

I don't have mine yet, I just ordered it over the weekend.
>>
>>767506
yup.
came here trying to buy a $50 knife for emergencies and ended up spending almost $200.
still havent used the fucking thing
>>
>>767400
I always figured coleman for more of a car camping brand than backpacking brand but they sure are cheap. How much does it weigh?
>>
>>768703
Around 3 thousend grams
>>
My favourite tent cost $100, I also have a $600 tent which I only use in the most heinous weather.
>>
I fuckin love coleman stuff but Im a truck camper so weight isnt a concern.
>>
I got it today.

1/2

Advertised a 10 minute setup and I'd say I was close to that. Really simple. Nice and roomy for what it is too. I think I'm gonna sleep out in it tonight.

I'm dumb

Also two or three of the hooks for the rain fly were missing. Not really a problem though. I'll probably just buy mini carabiners and use those. The stakes are also pretty shit but I'll replace those too.

Not bad. I've spent some time in a hooligan 4 in torrential downpours, absolute buckets coming down and stayed dry as a bone. That one has a completely different vestibule though, curious if your style does just as well because I hated crawling into mine with the low opening.

Borrowing this thread.

Is a 3.6 kg / 7.9 lbs tent a bit too heavy?
>>
>>770400
Pretty heavy if you're covering a lot of mileage with it on your back, I think.
>>
>>770375
Gib qt

>>770400
Not if you are sharing the load with someone and if you have hydration sorted along the route. Also, squats and oats.
>>
>>770375
It wasn't too bad. It's kinda nice to have a covered space outside the tent for my boots and shit.

But I had a hell of a time putting it away. Couldn't get it folded back up to fit in the bag.
>>
>>770449
Diy a couple bags and in one you store the tent itself, and in the other the fly, pole and stakes. Attach the bags to the sides of your pack.

Not all of them. Not me.

I have some mid tier gear some consider pricey, a thhermarest prolite plus for 100 euros, a titanium pot for 40, a fallkniven sharpeningstone for 25 euros. But i also have some cheap stuff, a 10 euro hultafors work knife, a 30 euros TTTM hammock, a 20 euros army jacket, a 10 euros ethanol stove and so on.

I use it all very much.
