Please remember to pack wire cutters in case you come across decapitation traps while /out/. You could save someone's life.
>>
>>760999
What fucking shithole country do you live in that decapitation traps are a real concern?
>>
>>761001
There was a major problem with boobie traps all over texas for a really long time.
>>
I see nothing wrong here. The only people affected would be those on loud motorized vehicles. It's for the best really.
>>
>>760999
please tell me this is fake. i'm currently in the midst of trying to keep various dirtbikers and four-wheelers from making a road through my woods and as much as it's chapping my ass that they flount the no trespassing signs like real jerkfaces even i won't put rock or log obstructions across the trail because i don't want some kid to have an accident and become braindead over a fucking property line. but decapitation traps? anyone who does that is an absolute psycho and should be locked-up

If that's real that's a clear threat. It's obviouslly in the middle of a trail. Some kid on a bike could get really hurt.

Also OP, you should report that at once to the cops.

If I owned property and people did that kind of shit, I would have a hard time not putting up traps like OP pic. Nothing would infuriate me more than jackass rednecks trashing my private property.
>>
>>760999
>>761007
A lot of these have been showing up on mountain biking trails near me.
>>
>>761022
believe me, it's maddening but here's the thing - the thought of it being some arrogant low-IQ redneck 30-something who thinks he owns the world and will trash anyone's land for his own entertainment makes me want to dig pits and dump boulders in the trail, but that's probably not who this is. it's probably 16-17yr olds who yes, may be little shits, but they still don't deserve to die or break their neck at the age of 16 because they're assholes as teenagers. wire traps and pits and trips don't choose who deserves to get hurt and who doesn't
>>
>>761025
what vicinity if you don't mind me asking?
>>
Someone left a metal cord going across a dirt road/path in an orchard near my house. My cousin was riding dirt bikes with his friends and he didn't see it and got there first. I was only 6 at the time and it's not the kind of thing you bring up but from what I recall at the time damn near took his head clean off. He died instantly. Mothers day 1996.

I hate bikers because they do not enjoy nature but are just looking for that adrenaline fix while causing more erosion than a whole army marching as much as the next hiker, but the thing that OP describes is psycopath tier shit.
>>
>>761054
the 'man isnt natural' meme needs to be checked. man imposing himself on nature is just as viable to the circle of life as the 'leave no trace'ers. hilariously, its the leave no trace people that are too scared to even shit in the woods, which is the most basic tie to nature you could accomplish
>>
>>761028
Eh those young kids will turn into arrogant adults so fuck em. I wonder if these would be legal on your property if you post a ton of warning signs and make them extremely visible with bright paint. If someone gets killed at that point, it should be treated the same as going into an artillery range.
>>
>>761060
children dont quantify the concept of borders, past the most fundamental. there are no evil strangers
>>
That shit is criminal and happens everywhere. Video very related

>>
>>761060
>Eh those young kids will turn into arrogant adults
that's just an assumption though, and it still doesn't justify trying to kill or maim. at least not to me. the second someone flips a bike on one of my logs or kills themselves will be the second it wasn't actually worth it at all. that's just me though. wanting bikers off the property ≠ hating them and wanting them to die
>>
>>761032
I have a similar story as well. My dad bought a dirtbike when he was younger (CR500 for those interested) and was getting ready to sell it a while later. As a final ride, he went flying up a dirt road and there was a wire similar to this going across it. He hit it and luckily the wire snapped. He sold the bike later that week, and the person he sold it to went up that same dirt road. The wire was back, and this time it didn't break, and it nearly cut his head off as well; killed instantly. Messed up world.
>>
>>761056
I don't give a single fuck about tree huggers m8. But if I happen to come across someone on a bike on a hikers trail I won't move and will not let you pass. You'll have to get down off your bike and dare to tell me that you are pissed by my behaviour. Bikers ruin the trails for everyone. Most of them are either kids or pleb scum, so I have literally nothing to loose. Fucking hate bikers. Either in the city or the outdoors. If you don't hate bikers you literally are not a human being.

Now, fixing wire across a trail, that's some african tier shit that has to be eliminated.
>>
>>761066
Is that brazil?
>>
>>761064
Kids old enough to ride dirtbikes unsupervised should have no trouble with the "concept of borders." They would likely have shitty parents who encourage shitty behavior like trespassing and destroying other people's property for fun.

But all trolling aside, people who do this kinda shit are sick. Though it seems so easy to get away with that I'm surprised it's not more common.

"/out/" meaning being on someone else's property where people have no business being without permission?

(now if we're talking about public land, that's a whole different story)

if you have trespassing signs properly posted and people intentionally ignore them, go right ahead and set traps...dig pits, down trees, bury spike strips, place barb wire...if that's what it takes to keep idiots away, so be it

if you own the property, you should be able to do anything you want with it....the moment someone crosses the property line without consent, what happens to them is entirely of their own fault
>>
>>761001
This happens in Denmark all the time, sadly.

Some old dickheads think the forests belong to walkers and not runners and bikers, so all throughout the country, people would put up traps specifically meant to severely hurt or even kill bikers, riders and runners. It would be spikes on mountain bike tracks on difficult paths where the biker would fall and land head first into big, metal spikes. Other places it would be metal wires.
>>
>>761092
>choose to be a psychopathic sadist because you're technically allowed to, even though you don't have to be at all
nice m8.
>>
>>761097
hey, if I had a piece of land, I'd be happy to open it to people who wanted to hike/fish/maybe hunt, as long as they were willing to respect the land and property borders, and get permission in advance

>>761102
so if I go on to private land, with signs properly posted, and somehow injure myself, I deserve to collect damages from the property owner in court?
it would obviously be their fault, if they didn't want people to go onto their land and get hurt they should have built 10+ft fences around the property
>>

>>

People naturally want to fuck others up. Problem is that with modern forensics, security cameras everywhere, identification plates on vehicles etc. It's impossible to do it. Setting up traps is one of the only ways to fuck with people now.
>>
>>761133
>i think you're thinking about dirtbikers
Indeed. They are the ones niggering the trails. Cyclists and hikers (in general of course) pull their weight and will try to keep the trails in good shape, because we enjoy them and we want to come back to them.

>>761140
I'm not being edgy at all. This is just what I do. I wont let them pass. And never got into a fist fight with them altough I have no problem with it. However, the new bunch of well tenders have these huge ass, angle iron, knife blade looking things with a bent top on their ATVs and solid tires to combat the situation.

That's pretty scary. I ride a dual sport motorcycle on forest service, logging, fire, and other random dirt roads a lot, it would suck to hit one of those.... My bike is really tall and so am I so hopefully it would just hit me in the chest and knock me off or something.

I pretty much stick to public lands and will respect posted no trespassing signs if I see them so hopefully I'll never run into one of those. I also stick to trails meant for vehicles and don't shit up foot / bicycle paths.

That's a tetrahedron----Alexander the Great's army used to use those against opposing calvary forces. Horse would stop on it and a calvaryman all of a sudden became an infantryman. Evened the odds quickly. I mention this to my chemistry students when we talk about tetrahedral carbon geometry.

You should not make assumptions that these are for decapaitating and you absolutely should not cut them. You do not know who put them or what their purpose is.

If it's public land feel free to alert authorities but do not cut it on your own. Some of these have be found to be triggers. If on private land you should leave the property.

You're a fucking creep.

Have you people ever heard of fences? Maybe try putting up some signs or something saying that you have traps set up. Make it look like theres a grow op/still on your property, thats the last thing anyone wants to run into. Also I know a lot of you people have well established trails on your properties, in that case why not let them ride through your property? Its not like they'll be there that long, just put some private property signs up. Maybe put some signs up that say youll shoot them and leave a some targets and some spent casings laying around, make it look like a range. just some shit like that to keep them from staying too long.

Path erosion is mainly caused by water/rain/nature and is only barely affected by hikers/horse-riders/cyclists.The effect on stopping erosion by stopping cyclists (or hikers who don't look where they're going) using paths is negligible.

Motorbikes certainly churn the fuck out of paths though.

Setting traps for people, what could go wrong? Emergency services need to move fast on your property? Visitors? Anyone lost and in trouble should be risking horrific injury to move about because you're a gaping vagina?

My old teacher's brother died to one he was a kid. It was on a downhill sloped hole in a bush fence to prevent neighborhood kids from using it as a shortcut.
Teacher's brother ran through it in the dark, slit his throat and died there.

http://www.alllaw.com/articles/nolo/personal-injury/liability-private-property.html

>When a person is injured on private property owned by someone else, the property owner may face liability for the injury regardless of whether the property is used for commercial or residential purposes.

>Trespassers. A homeowner must refrain from willful conduct intended to injure anyone on the property (including a trespasser). But the homeowner generally has no other responsibility to protect the safety of unanticipated trespassers. But a homeowner does have a responsibility to protect the safety of an anticipated trespasser. The homeowner must warn the trespasser of dangerous non-obvious conditions on the property, usually by putting up a sign.

Not here for trip wire and boobytrap bs, but what are some legit ways to keep people off my land? I have game cameras set up and there is a surprising amount of traffic. exactly, can't you just be mature about it and walk up to them and tell them you really don't like them to camp there, maybe warn them you'll call the sherif next time. Explain your reasons why you don't want them to camp there, which i hope isn't just "cause it's muh property" cause really who gives a fuck if there is literally nothing as you have mentioned, start a dialogue, create some understanding, maybe give them permission and point them out a good spot on your land or public land and tell them to leave things clean and not fuck around with your stuff. Be a cool guy, give respect, earn respect, be an example, especially for young folks, and none of these guns and traps and other shit that's not solving any problems.

>>762367
Not the anon your responding to but setting traps like spikes and digging pits is pretty fucked. Although if I owned land and dirt bikes tore up my land I would have no issue downing trees across the trail to make it impossible to navigate for them but walkers could easily. It definitely wouldn't be somewhere hard to notice or hard to find. It wouldn't be a let's injure these kids on atvs and dirt bikes it would be just to make it so my land wasn't a realistic option. The logs would be posted with signs to. Does that really sound unrealistic and sadistic to anons? It seems like some anons are saying that you should do nothing to impede upon people who damage private property.

muh property is 110% why.
>>
>>762829
It was mentioned there was nothing there, just woods, what legal ramifications could happen? Also don't get paranoid because of a few cases that hit the media cause of a loophole in the system or mistake from the judge etc... If it was this easy to sue people would setup "accidents" on private property all the time just to get some money out of it. The odd risk of an accident happening at your property, the people suing you AND winning the case is probably a lot smaller then the risk of an escalated situation, such as a fight, vandalism at your property for revenge...

And Scandinavia has this law that people can roam freely over all the land, i don't hear any more problems from there, except that most people find it awesome

But yeah if you really think holding them at gunshot is the best way to solve the situation than go for it, its impossible to argue with you guys, just like with the bear spray-gun discussion

The problem with running cattle or other livestock on a property is that you'd have to actually build a fence around the property to keep them in... If there was a fence with a locked gate in place then people wouldn't be trespassing in the first place more than likely.

Well, i think land is a universal good and doesn't belong to anyone. Its like owning a part of the atmosphere or sunlight or stuff like that. From an ethical point of view i think it shouldn't be owned, and if owned there should be freedom to roam.

Economically and environmentally a long term lease system would have a lot of benefits as it will be easier to make changes in land use planning, because now land use planning was fixed a few generations ago and we can hardly change a thing but the world has changed drastically. Also land would be used more efficiently since there are no land investors anymore, so profit from land can only come from an added value, with a good system this can also be ecological value. Another advantage is that land would be more prone to switching of landholders, with the benefits of centralising buisenesses, more buiseness growth potential, more ecological compensation potential, less agricultural land fragmentation because of inheritance...

Think about it...

Why does it have to be land you want to leave to your children? There are so many other things you can invest in for your children which are way easier to interchange so you children have the option of doing what they want with it instead of splitting your land in two or more and fragment the land so land use gets even less efficient.

And i'm not talking about a revolution, land that is legally owned and used now should at least stay that way until the owner dies or given the option for some kind of compensation. Also the lease agreements would have minimum term caps so at least for housing they could be life term contracts. Investments on the land such as structures should be well described in the leasing agreement and amortized in a way so that when the contract ends the remaining value should be paid back to the holder or inheritants. Prolonging contracts after term or decease should be optional depending on the type of contract.

I personally know a vietnam vet that has bear traps in his front lawn, two 9mm UZI that pop out of holes on his front porch(his mailbox is like 2 miles away from his property and he personally requests a specific mailman that he happens to know, it is a small county) and he has train tracks that run through his property with explosives rigged to go off in the area, which explode anout 20 yards away from where the person tripped it. People sometimes walk on the tracks, so explosives was his fix for that problem. Once they go off he checks for bodies about an hour later. I do not know if he has ever found any. He occassionally loses one of his cows to his multiple traps. His house is fortified and he has cameras everywhere, in his basement is a preppers dream. He has literal crates of dozens of AK47s which he says he will give to the town when shit hits the fan and a safe room that can only be entered one person at a time due to a giant 6 inch thick piece of steel that he basically built the house around. He of course has gas masks and rations and all the other prepper things you would expect. A few grenades too. He keeps a gun on top of a 2 inch thick blackwater contract that he never went through with. Well, he keeps guns everywhere, really. Vietnam vets can be totally insane but this guy is insane with money. Hes cool, but you just have to call him a few days in advance if you want to come over into his "country" as he puts it. He has a class 3 weapons permit too, which he just loves.

Freedom goes to the property owner who gets to decide who he lets use his land and under what terms they can use it. Property is bought and sold all the time, if you want some land then all you have to do is go buy it. If you cannot afford to buy land then you can go make use of whatever public land you want -- national parks/forests, state parks, county and municipal parks, wildlife management areas, Army Corps of Engineers land, etc.

Bottom line is how is my land different than your kitchen? Trespassing vs b&e - semantics at best if the land is fenced and posted. How about if I take a dump on your front porch? That wasn't behind closed doors so I didn't break in, or maybe I just drop one on the front lawn. How is that different than you camping and shitting in my woods?
Can I set up a tent in your backyard in a residential neighborhood?

Certainly god damn not.

You are seriously going to compare breaking into someone's house and hanging out in their kitchen, to walking around and looking at the trees of hundred acre properties?
The concerns over danger, or property damage, or you getting in trouble for someone else is understandable, but 'IT MINE! MINE!' solely?
That's a toddler's temper tantrum and not an attitude I'd expect to find in a full grown man.

>>
>>763790
That hundred acre property is probably the most expensive asset that those people will ever own. Rural acreage around here is $2000-$4000 an acre, if I owned 100+ acres then I definitely wouldn't want random strangers constantly trespassing on the property. Hell, if they let a campfire get out of control and burned a significant portion of the woods off then at today's timber prices you could be looking at a $100k+ in losses just counting the timber not even taking into account cleanup and reclamation costs afterwards. I wouldn't want the fuckers leaving their trash everywhere and vandalizing any buildings or equipment I left on the land or stealing stuff either. Like I said earlier, there's plenty of land for sale if you want to go and purchase your own or you could always go hang out and hike/camp on public land if you can't afford or don't want to buy your own land.

>>
>>763932
>I'm not gonna get my way so I'm going to whine...
You're implying that I'm whining by talking this out with you?
Maybe it's different where you live, champ, but here, it's honestly not that hard to wander from 'free' land to 'private' land. All it takes is to miss a sign the size of a notebook, assuming it's even there.

Most people don't have actual fences and floodlights.
People get all riled up like you and make a big deal about it, I don't want my life endangered by some faggot with no chill.

>Who's the child?
Again, this is you. Concern over property is fine, not wanting to be held responsible is fine, but simply 'NO CAUSE MINE!!! ONLY MINE!!!' lacks the critical thinking skills of an adult.
There is no other way about it.

>If you own something it is your right to determine who can use it.

Oh, shit, me too. Trying to find you a pic of a sign 'in the wild', but the popular ones around here, like I said, are about the size of a notebook and generally about eight feet or so up a tree? Generally, there aren't a whole lot of them and it's very easy to cross a line.

>Do you feel it's okay to tent on land that isn't yours?
Was that the question? Oh, shit, it wasn't what we were talking about.

Here is what I'm saying, try and listen this time: If your ONLY reason why you wouldn't want someone standing on your large lot of land is 'MINE! CAUSE MINE!' then you are a selfish asshole and don't actually care about the land you'd own, or you'd understand why someone would have the impulse to check it out. Again, concerns over responsibility, property damage, or crimes are valid. No one is saying they are not.

As for camping? If you've made it abundantly clear that it is private property, in which case you'd need a fuck ton of signs, so that they could be seen from any possible approach to your land, and possibly even a fence, I wouldn't, because camping with tents implies a stay, and a stay implies possible cooking, and we all know what having eating something inevitably results in.
If I were a landowner and found someone doing this on my property, I'd articulate this concerns to the campers, or call the police to check 'em out if I thought they might be dangerous or weird.
In that scenario, all of my feelings and actions have reason beyond, 'HEY, DAYS MINE WOODS!'

>>
>>763790

That's the thing, people don't just "look at trees". They cut fences, ruin trails, leave rubbish, take drugs (ie illegal activities that you could be liable for), shoot animals out of season without a licence etc etc.

So it's not low / no impact at all. And besides, what does it matter what they're doing? Trespassing is still illegal, end of story. Whether you agree with it or not it's still a crime, and the landowner does have the right to keep people out.

But I've caught kids out there fishing on my pond and riding atvs. So I never know what some little dick kid has left behind.

I dont want a kid getting hit by a stray round. I'm all for kids appreciating nature. I really dont like it when I see someone has ridden an atv out there, but I try to be a nice guy about it.
>>
>>761106
I agree with your first comment. I live in a rural area with lots of farms. The tree farmers don't mind people walking, biking or dirtbiking through; it doesn't hurt their product at all. There are lots of right of ways through farms that anyone can legally use. However, the fruit farmers are way more protective because people steal fruit. Cattle farmers have everything fenced in and people don't fuck with cows much. Seems like most farmers are more pissed at the hogs that tear up roads than dirtbikers.

After making some farmer friends, they pretty much let me do whatever I want, whenever.

Most large land owners are outdoorsy people and respect the urge to wander and explore. If you take time to introduce yourself, are respectful and don't trash their land, you'll be surprised how agreeable they might be. When I own land (hopefully next year!) I'll post "No trespassing without permission" and post my phone number. Hopefully I'm not being too ideallistic, but the farmers I know are reasonable, let many people use their land and haven't had any problems with shitty people.

The amount of people in this thread who just wander onto private property, regardless of postings and gates, and without asking the consent of the landowner is fucking disgusting. You deserve to be caltropped, decapitated, gored, and arrested.

You know how disgusted and violated you feel seeing traps like this? That's how landowners feel when strangers wander onto their property. You didn't ask for permission so you're probably on their land to smoke meth, poach, or trash the place for your amusement. That's the only logical conclusion. A person just looking for a nice trail to hike would have no problem asking them to do so and wouldn't ignore signs and jump fences. Besides, there's plenty of public land to do that on.

You brought this on yourselves.

It is posted against tresspassing, but I'm ok if you just wanna go out there for the day and have a good time. I'm lucky enough to own some land. Some kids dont have a place to go, and I'm more than fucking happy to let people use it. Just respect it. Last time I caught people out there it was an old guy and his grandson fishing. I went out there to target shoot (my main hobby) I showed them where I shoot, and in what direction I shoot, and told them they could come out there anytime, just be careful. Even let the guy and his grandson shoot a couple of my pistols. I would never think of setting up a trap on my land. That shits just sick.

It is the rage of a person that plays World of Warcraft for 12 hours a day. They have no real idea how the world works.

Here is a psychological tip. You must be enotionally stable and reasonable and sociable and well rounded to have a good job in order to be able to afford land. There is no other way to succeed in your life. 0 out of 10,000 of these people would kill in cold blood or at distance. 100 out of 10,000 of these people would approach the trespassers and ask them to leave. 5 out of those 100 would be rude about it. Another 50 out of that 10,000 would call the sheriff, and odds are that the sheriff will not come, and tell you to let people enjoy the woods. It is extremely statistically unlikely for a human to act in the vicsious manor that these anons describe. Therefore, from the analysis of them having to be stable to own land in the first place, you can very safely assume they simply do not own land and are not successful in their own life, because that is vastly more likely than being the 5 out of 10,000 people that are rude to trespassers. That is just rude too, there is no data for people that point guns at trespassers or shoot them. That does not happen, not even in Somalia. These Anons likely suffer from an anxiety disorder and do not even leave their basements, this fuels their anti-social delusion. The fact that they roleplay about being outside and successful property owners while they are of this condition, is well, depressing. You should feel bad for these trolls.
>>
>>764523

Rural WV, here. I can personally attest to the fact that my neighbors shoot at trespassers and setup trip wires and pit traps. I'm pretty cool with it because it keeps the trespassers off my (adjoining) property.
>>
>>764524

Personally, I've never had a problem with it, but I shoot a lot and have signs on the edges of my property warning of an active shooting range. Gotta be pretty dumb to ATV into a place that bullets are obviously flying around.
>>
>>764524
Your neighbors are risking 10-15 years in prison just for having any of those on their property. Shooting in the direction of someone is aggravated assault, which trumps treapassing badly. Any trespasser can call the police for this and your neighbors will have a 3 year vacation in a cell because of it. Again, it is statistically very unlikely that this is actually true, or that these traps are actually deadly to any animal at all. You simply do not have the law, or statistics or clinical psychology on your side for this. At all. In any capacity. You would be forced to commit multiple felonies in order to do anything you are talking about.
>>
>>764526
This is a good way to warn someone about your property. That is just a warning though, with no legal importance. I also suggest you understand that your signs are entirely meaningless without a quoted KRS number referencing the law you are attempting to utilize. Those signs are much less common and you probably did not buy them.
>>
>>764524
>my neighbors shoot at trespassers and setup trip wires and pit traps
for what reason?
>>
>>764529

I don't think you understand how coal country works, man. The county population is < 20k and most of these neighbors know the sheriff or deputies personally. Most of them live on land that their families have owned for 100+ years. There are 6 deputies that patrol a county that is extremely mountainous, wooded, and inaccessible. These deputies have their hands full keeping a wildly poor, opiate-addicted population in check. Bribes are common, as is looking the other way, losing paperwork, etc.

To give you an example: where some are my relatives live a few counties over, the city police chief was a state trooper. He routinely took bribes and sexual favors as part of his job (at least according to local talk). Eventually some woman claimed he raped her and he got fired. He is married to the local mayor's daughter, runs the town police force, and makes tons of money.

Another example of how law enforcement works in Appalachia: http://www.examiner.com/article/decoration-day-the-true-story-behind-jason-isbell-s-drive-by-truckers-song

Trespassers on rural land around here are viewed as sub-human trash. People go missing on hunting trips and unless they're well-connected politically, either through money (esp. coal companies) or family ties, they're not even investigated.

>>
>>764543
Each word you say gets your neighbors closer to a life sentence, this is no justification whatsoever and you know it. Just because someone rapes their kid, and nobody finds out, does NOT EVER give it them a justification to continue doing it. The law is being broken to a severe level and YOU can also go to prison for being aware and not reporting it. The fact that you monsters are not stopped is NOT justification for it being okay. >a drug gang

Welcome to a problem that involves the whole of America. This has nothing at all to do with what we are talking about.
>>
>>761009
i'm an /out/ enthusiast and I dont see the concern for people riding motor vehicles on trails.
those traps seem psycho as shit though
>>
>>761170
whats this 'we' you're talking about.
>>
>>761883
you can do it because you can, but someone angier than you is gonna drop you.
i ride my bike with a bootknife for people like you.
>>
Why is /out/ filled with so many touch guys?

Can't we all just take it easy and enjoy the /out/doors?
>>
>>764617
outdoors!=property
fences should be used instead of weaponry though
>>
>>764622
Some anons are defending the use of deadly traps on public land because of their hatred of how others enjoy the outdoors.
>>

>Shooting in the direction
warning shot...
prove direction and intent. Unless you've (the landowner) got a bad rapport with John Q Law already trespasser is going away, granted it will just be a ride to the town/county line with a threat if he returns. Rural cops hate nothing more than paperwork.
>>
>>764622
and reading comprehension should be used beore opening your mouth.
The area in question is gated and fenced and trespassers are climbing over.
>>
>>763525
Damn who invited /b/ over
>>
>>764531
Don't everyone in wv need the traps to protect their precious ginseng
>>
>>764531
So his property has nothing to do with meth, pot, poaching, underage drinking and/or Delierance-tier shenanigans.

WV is a fucked up state man.

>this entire thread
>no one mentions the true equine scourge of multi-use trails
>>

So just step around it. Critters love horse poop.
>>
>>761018
Happens in EU as well..
But be careful. I've heard stories that these can be used for robbery.
You ride your bike/motorcycle hit the trap ->gen knocked out -> bike is gone

The only things that matter here are the property owners wishes and the law. If a property owner says no trespassing of any kind, he doesn't need a 'reason' as that is his legal right as property owner. If state law says such a land owner must label the property with signs, then he is obligated to do that.

There are few things as basic to property rights as the right to limit access. Anything beyond that is not germane to the discussion.

Somehow, you seem to think that if I own property and choose not to let strangers do XYZ on it, I am the asshole, instead of the people breaking the law and using my property without permission.
