Hello /out/doorsmen, I recently went exploring deeper into the hills of Pohorje, a tree fell down whilst I was there sounded like gunshot. Besides that I will be dumping some pictures along with some pictures of some nearby foothills I am planning on camping in soon.

Pic related is a river dam I built in the mountain stream for some relaxation.

Hope you guys enjoy.
>>
>>756309
You need to start camping. Use whatever equipement you have right now and take note of everything you can improve. But you need to do an overnighter.

You guys realize that fucking DNR builds these on purpose quite frequently on rivers so that the water is more oxygenated and provides more places for fish to rest while going back up stream. Yes fish fucking go upstream, fucking salmon go up fucking water falls for fuck sakes. Large fuckhuge hydroelectric dams obviously have little benefit unless fish ladders are built.

Bottom line a string of rocks across a stream isn't going to fucking harm anything unless it is near a flood plain.
>>
>>757203
Looks like Fomes fomentarius. They used to use them to make fire before matches were invented.
>>
>>757817
Okay José lets go build strings of rock everywhere and see how the fish do. Of course your /out/ knowledge is so bountiful it excuses dam-building behaviour. You're so smart. In fact, I think you can build all the dams the DNR builds just by yourself, you fantastic human being.
>>
>>757889
Yes actually my /out/ knowledge is quite bountiful considering I work for the Canadian Natural Resources. We frequently employ scouts to help us using them as free labour and teaching them about the aquatic life in the area.

And we don't usually use just rocks, logs are inherently easier to build these dams being that deadfall is everywhere.

While LNT has some merit, you overzealous city fags need to back the fuck off.
>>
>>757922
That's fine José. Please tell us more about how fish swim upsteam in OP's pic and how OP's dam creates a nice resting place for them.

Also enlighten us on how OP's dam is of no consequence to the surrounding woodland and other aquatic critters beside fish, oh oracle of knowledge.
>>
>>757931

To preface, you can see very little of the stream in question and I do not know anything at all about the local terrain or wildlife. However I can observe that:

1) That dam is very poorly constructed and will not last long it will either erode the sides and go around or it will simply fall apart from the force of the water.
2) It is improving dissolved oxygen levels.
3) I can neither prove nor disprove there are fish in that stream, the dam in question has created a small pond that fish can rest in. I can observe that there is a pretty good grade to the stream so if they are going up that is where they might rest.
4) Most small dams are created on relatively flat and shallow streams and rivers, even without a dam being in one fish will swim behind rocks and other objects as it is calorically easier and also good places to ambush prey.
5) It is obvious you're just a troll, ecological systems are quite complex and you're a big boy now you can easily fucking google "stream restoration" and "effects of stream restoration" etc ad infinitum. Hell, you might even find a group of volunteers near you who engage in stream restoration. I am sure you could learn something if you manage to crawl out of your mothers basement.
>>
>>757941
So one of your arguments why you think a dam there is a good idea is literally "it won't hold for long". But, you know, I'm "just a troll" and I need to "get out of my mom's basement".

You insufferable double nigger. You're what's wrong with /out/. You admit to knowing nothing about the terrain, but you have no problem telling literally 8 anons that they're overzealous city fags. Meanwhile, you can't even take a wild guess if this shitty sporadic rain stream has any fish, but you center all your pro-dam arguments around oxygen levels, resting places and ambushing places ~if there are fish~.

You know nothing besides fish.

Get /out/.

>How so? Enlighten me would like to learn some bushcraft.

Never done it myself, but basically you just beat the insides of the fungus. The colour of the insides varies I guess, but If it is Fomes fomentarius it should look quite brownish. You keep beating it till it's quite soft. Then you soak it in lye (? is the the real word?), but apparently water works too.

You can light it up with a tinderbox for example. You can move the fire because the fungus smoulders for quite long. Fomes fomentarius is the only fungus I know that works, but there is others too. Here they are quite common, the most common fungus on a birch. I guess there is birches in Slovenia too, but they should be able to grow on beeches and aspens too.

For /out/ gear I ordered a full blown tent branded hewolf it looks awesome especially for solo camping. A "CIMA" branded diving knife , it has a sort of spear tip so should be fun to use. I already reviewed the a cree flashlight. Got some carabiners and paracord incoming and cycling gloves. I also ordered a simple canvas pack for light outdoors/daily use. When my new camera arrives the video quality will improve phenomenally. The audio upgrade is incoming too so definitely stay tuned! I'm also considering a /out/ related new channel hopefully. Anyway thank you for following my work, i'm glad you appreciate it, after all someone has to review chinese noname products.

Oh and here is the two current /out/ related product reviews.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SwRnWdRxaEo
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=60RnNR1kdw8

This thing counts as an /out/ product since its also solar powered, good for tent lighting.

Nice!

Have you think about your stove yet? I bought an alocs alcohol stove for about 10 bucks and has worked for me so far for weekend hikes. I still carry my remote canister stove when I go over the tree line, but for comfy camping I'd suggest you an alcohol stove because of the simplicity of use.

Also, imo this review is very helpfull for /out/ purposes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2R_qHcs6Bk

A lot of us use our cellphones to navigate so power sources when we are /out/ have become an important item in our packs.

Because river is important and with no study you mess it up possibly killing many species to death.
You need to practice LNT and stop messing with things of no understanding to you.
>>
>>758794
Dont worry i checked the river for wildilfe it only formed recently due to the heavy rain, usually isnt there. But again im sorry if i did any harm none intended i respect nature just as much as you do.

>>758749
And thank you , I try my best to be comprehensive yet concise in my reviews. I will check out a stove , the problem is i will be leaving here in a few months so i don't want to buy gear i cannot take back with me.
>>
>>758679
Good you LNT fags can be annoying sometimes, like i get not going around throwing away cans and shit but goddamn learn to have some fun and not be constricted because you can't break a single stick because "it'll ruin the ecosystem and the world will fucking implode"
>>
>>758679
Actually no you cannot, in North America and probably most of the EU. Look at any fishing regulations regarding trespassing dumbfuck.

NA, you cannot fish any water on/from my land without my permission.
Don't make up rules you want to believe.
Coastal you cannot come above the high water mark. You can fish below the tiide line.

Nice man! What are you going to cook? Going to make a fire?
>>
>>759705
Im a bit too close to civilization to be starting a fire , plus I doubt i can in the rain. I bought some bockwurst (pickled sausages) some chocolate raisins and some toasted bread with tuna and mayo. Should last me till tommorow morning when I pack up and go back.
>>
>>759718
To keep your fire contained next time you can make one of these at home. It's literally disposable >>753268

Dakota? Sure. Takes more time though
>>
>>759687
Is that a single wall? Does it have more vents besides the thing on the top? Watch out for condensation.
>>
>>759767
Yeah only vents at the top , condensation is an issue but thats allright. Cheap tent anyway. And I will make a dakota next camp.

Too drastic. I'll let the squeaky bastards be as long as they dont try to chew through the tent. Then ill have to body slam them.

Sleep is hard for me my friend. I have a fear of the dark.

whelp RIP in peace OP. he had a good run guise, did some exploring, camped-out finally. he was a good chap too. may his zeal and enthusiasm inspire us all. we'll miss him †
>>
>>760041
There's nothing you can do by now. You could open the door of your tent and ventilate it, but it would take hours for that to dry. And you'll be eaten by those mice from hell.

Your best scenario would be that temp drops to freezing point so those drops wont fall over you by the morning. But that's not happening.

Brace.
>>
>>760041
Try wiping it off with a towel or something. You'll definitely be wanting to get a better tent.
>>
>>760051
Can i pack the tent up whilst its still wet?
>>
>>760052
Ordered one its stuck in shipping , i will use tissues or tshirt to clean it up.
>>
>>760053
you can, but when you get back make sure you open it up and let it dry really well for a day or two before you pack it up and store it long-term. that wetrot will take hold and destroy it one way or another if you store it while it's wet
>>
>>760056
Be gentle so you dont knock all the drops down. Maybe open the door a little at the top if you can.

>>760053
Yes you can, but make sure you set it up again and air it out the next day when you get home.
>>
>>760058
>>760057
Thanks anons I sure will do so.

Besides that I think the sun will rise in 50mins hopefully then i'll feel safer and pack up. Animals are waking up now , can hear birds.
>>
>>760053
Of course m8, no worries. Just take care of it when you get home, turn it inside out and let it dry, clean it and store it again for future use or whatever.

Condensation is a common problem with tents. It's just water. You can get very well ventilated tents but they tend to be cold. It's one way or the other. No worries man. We've all been through that. In the end it's part of the fun. You'll do better next time because you are taking mental notes about what could be improved or what you need for your next overnighter.
>>
>>760061
You survived then. 2 hours before sunrise is the coldest time. Nice anon. Well done.

Yay do I get a /out/ badge for surviving a whole night now?

I packed up and went for a hill hike and then rode my bike back home. Was really tiring my pack weighed a tonne and the lack of a sleeping mat made lying down very uncomfortable. The debris under the tent caused muscle strain in the morning. I have a sleeping mat, problem is I do not know how to attach it to my pack. The sleeping bag was okay, very large would be my only complaint since it only cost 15 Euros from Lidl.

>>760062
Anon you said I should clean the tent, how would one come around doing this? Obviously I cannot just throw it in the washing machine?

Pic related is the church encountered atop of a hill during the hike.
>>
>>759700
Come to the Javornik mountain range, bring protection and lube!
>>
>>760192
>do I get
NO, you didn't sleep and spent the night on the internet on your phone. You get shit, you didn't really camp.

>>760249
>protection and lube
Nice Superbad reference.
>>
>>760249
Looks like a really nice area. I wonder How I can get there from Maribor.

>>760275
You are right I suppose. I'll try harder next time, already found a location to hike to.
>>
>>760354
>How to get there from Maribor
Well driving would be a good start though you should just move from there anyway
>>
>>760192
>Anon you said I should clean the tent, how would one come around doing this
A damp cloth does the trick. Just remove any mud or random stains that are usually at the bottom. When it's dries, fold it and put it away. ALWAYS with the zippers open, the same with your sleeping bag.

Btw, you might think it's a shitty tent and maybe it is, but take care of it. You never know when you'll need it even if you get a better one.

Go to Kamnik and their mountain range
You can use train or buses
>>

the part of the Javornik at Cerknica are pretty godly at some places though you have to walk a bit to find the nice bits
>>
>>760829
I think Kamnik will be easier anon, thanks for the recommendation.

I don't mind walking.
