This might be a long shot, but I'm looking for hiking/camping spots in Broome County NY.
Few friends and I have a weekend off and are doing a last minute hike and camp. Looking to hike in a few miles, camp, and hike out.
Not sure where is good around Broome County. Because of time constraints we need somewhere very close, going into PA is fine too.
Let me know what's up /out/.

Not sure which National Forests you're thinking of. South of me is Pennsylvania, and there's only 1 in PA, Allegheny National Forest, and thats mostly westate of me, not really south.. That is about a 4-5 hour drive from me.
One last bump for justice
Hope you find an answer, upstateAnon.

Albany Cty here.
Good God. Broome looks like the worst cty in all of Upstate NY for camping. The Whitney Point Multiple Use Area looks decent but no camping allowed there. There are basically no state forests. You should look elsewhere if you want to camp. Pharsalia Woods State Forest (New Michigan State Forest) is close. Personally I would just make the drive up to the ADKs though.
In PA there is the Pinchot Trail in the Lackawanna State Forest. To your east is the western Catskills in Delaware County, not too far from you.

I'm actually in Susquehanna County PA, like 3 miles south of Broome County, but there are no state forests anywhere in Susquehanna County.
Broome county has several small state forests, but I have no idea if they're even worth going to. I've been to a handful of Broome county parks/forests, and they're only ok.

Heard a few people say the Pinchot trail isn't too bad, and a nice hike. I'll look into it more.

This is a little drive from me, but seems like a decent area. Not many actual trails, but looks like there wouldn't be many people.
