My folks have a formal lawn about the size of a football field. When I visit in the Summer I get on their ride-on and just spend a few hours going full Forest Gump. That shit is just magnificent.
No. Sitting along a river bed fishing while carving spoons is.

What's the psychological reason behind the zen state? It feels like the only time I get to turn my brain completely off.

I traded a tree stand and an 18 pack of Coors Light for a John Deere 110 riding mower last year. I like it plenty, but I wish it was lower to the ground for cutting sideways on hills like my previous yardmachines mower. Overall handling it better though. I have a small yard, but I love having a riding mower.

I don't know the psychological reason but part of zen buddhist meditation is doing tasks in a mindful way, like sweeping leaves or gravel or whatever. Mowing the lawn isn't far off that.

If you bury a pig in their front yard and make sure they know about it they'll move. Google it.

Same reason I need a riding mower to cut less than .25 acre.

Same here except for the "harassed by random Arabs". I like it. It's therapeutic and relaxing.

Does 20+ acres with a 50's era push mower count? Takes me all day and a 18 pack of refreshing beverages and is a hell of a workout. I'd consider it /out/.

Forgot pic related. Similar to mine. Inherited it from gramps. He kept his shit in tip top condition.
