Sometimes. It's a pretty serious faux pas to give yourself your own nickname in my opinion. On the other hand, you do have to make the decision to introduce yourself as the nickname if you aim to actually go by it, so in some respects you do have to choose to roll with the name-unless you've got a road dog following you around telling everyone to call you something else. A lot of nicknames arise from a newbie coming and landing in an established scene where we end up identifying them by some quality or trait which often signifies the kind of trip they're on, alternatively it could just be a visual aspect of their character.

I've had the same name for years, before that it was just my regular name, but I began to introduce myself as the nickname a few others gave me and while I've went through the strange identity problems one winds up going through upon sticking with an odd, clearly unnatural name that isn't even 'cool', I've ridden out these minor waves and it's continued to shape my character in various ways. It's hard to describe what exactly goes through ones mind when a girl cries out your traveling name during sex. Something that I've noticed a lot in other people is the tendency of one to suddenly begin questioning ones identity when under the influence of psychedelics. You blast off on too many hits of L and all of the sudden you're rethinking all your clothes and your name and your skin. Likewise, I've noticed solidifying the name through a trip, along with the trip itself. But that's discussion for another time.

With my name, even if I did settle down, I'd have to compound it into my pen name. Too many people know me by traveling name, I mean shit, an anon identified me in the last thread, the other day some girl who'd given me a ride to a festival a few years ago in Colorado recognized me in coffee shop in Oregon. It would be weird at this point for me to completely drop my name or change it.

How far have some of you guys walked? For how long do you generally walk a day if you have some sort of destination or place you'd like to go? Do you try to stock up on food, plan to go through towns, or just wing it and see what you can find as you go?
>>
>>722437
Depends, sometimes walked 30-40km in a day. If you're train hopping you might get an unlucky roll and end up dropped off hours away from a highway. If you're hitchhiking you might get so tired of waiting that you walk down the road for hours until you get picked up, or you get dropped off somewhere where it's basically impossible to hitch and you have to walk until you can find a spot. Getting around cities is easy for me cause I use a custom skateboard. I pack Clif Bars for emergency food but that's only because I can actually make and safe up my spangle for useful things. It's more efficient to focus completely on getting to your destination than stopping to get resources everywhere.
>>
What if youre panhandling and someone steals your can of change? Do you run after him or stay with your gear? It could be a setup to steal all of your gear right?

What are some good packs? What do y'all use?

I use my old backpack from high school when I go /out/ but it's gonna fall apart eventually. I want something durable and reasonably comfortable.

I'm not full vagabond yet but I'm considering the lifestyle.

Its all you will ever need in a bag. Pouches up the ass not to mention what you can strap to it. I use one for camping all the time now.

Best part is you can buy them for under $50.
>>
>>722410
Not the anon you were speaking to, but my nickname was pit bull/pit/pittie. I had a dog (not a pit bull type) that some guy I didn't know kicked for seemingly no reason, and I tried kicking that guy's ass for it. I got my own ass kicked several times, but I kept getting up until I got him down and he left. Next morning they were calling me all sorts of shit, Rocky, mongrel, but pittie bull stuck.

I also had June because I was born in July... That's something a tweaker got going and ended up sticking, also. He thought he was so fucking clever

I love the stories behind nicknames.

In the beginning over time several friends called me it because of the way I wore my pants/long wool socks. Before I had my dog I used to climb anything I could and many of my sleep spots involved a climb. Rolling your pants up gives you little kneepads that help climb. Also, sometimes I'd just go shoeless with my long wool socks, it was comfy. People who didn't know me referred to me as 'the kid with the socks' and a few random people decided calling me socks was easier than remembering my name.

>>722426
Rainbow Family, generally refers to someone who's following the rainbow gatherings around, but the name 'rainbow family' is often picked up by junkie and wingnut homebums who identify under that term. One thing you learn rather quickly is that anyone can subscribe to these flags and fly them but it doesn't mean they know shit about piss.

>>722437
While hitching I almost always make sure to keep some peanut butter and tortillas to sustain in case I can't make a spange or get stuck. Usually I don't leave the city for a trek until I have enough dollars to be comfortable in case I want to go really slow through small towns where there's no spange, but if I'm taking a route I know in places I've been, often I just wing it with the peanut butter tortillas.

These days I don't walk as far as I used to, I used to get impatient while hitchhiking and just start walking. My furthest single walk was~35 miles in a day, these days it's rare for me to get above 15 miles in a day, but that's because I don't just walk towards my destination city if I don't get a ride. Now, my 15 mile walk is a sprawling meander through the city towards the hitch spot on the other side. Anything under 5 miles but above a few city blocks is basically the same distance to me.

>>722516
Can be kosher. Anything with a similar design will do you well. You don't want something overly designed with a bunch of extra weight while unable to suspend, and you don't want something low quality which will rip through the seams or break the clips once you put some miles on it.

I use a Kathmandu 70+10 at the moment, before that was an Eddie Bauer Backpack from Dicks or something (super low quality, 70l or something, terrible suspension), before that was an old external frame jansport which held weight great but was a hastle fitting into people's vehicles being a 4 and a half foot solid frame or whatevs, before that was an osprey 90l(actually was like 120l?)with absolutely no suspension and too much space, before that was a 55+10 high tec which I'd been forced into after my previous bag was stolen but ended up being a solid bag for my needs at the time (no dog, no shiny rocks, etc) and before that the bag that was stolen was a newer external frame kelty which was way too big for me despite holding weight well.

>>722444

Few people besides addicts panhandle with a change jar, and while you're correct in the possibility of someone running up to you, taking something laying about, then running off in an attempt to get you to chase after so they could take your stuff, in most situations and scenes you'd be able to sense such a thing before it happened and in acknowledging such will probably prevent it from happening in the first place.

It's as simple as not being a target, or even, choosing what kind of target others see when they see you.

>>722842
Women shouldn't travel alone. Even if it's not rape, the amount of extremely forward advances you will receive is baffling. I know many vagabond girls who wound up escorting early on during their traveling.
>>
>>722586
Pfffhahaha no, don't ever imply that 'portland is the place' again anon. Portland exists as a springboard for junkpunks and scumfucs who think riding the rails between Eugene and Seattle while never actually venturing outside of the little hipster trainhopping punk scene is the end all be all of traveling and the lifestyle.

People from all over the East and Midwest come out West chasing these ideas about what these places are. You will be sorely disappointed.

I have no ultimate destination, but traveling the world and backpacking other places appeals to me.

>>722787
Looks good. Those shorties are always great when I see them, owners are usually really happy with the choice.

>>722618
During summer I use a down shell, the rest of the time I try to keep a medium to heavy sleeping bag good to ~20 Degrees(f) or so. Definitely nothing too big and bulky, but being compressed all the time will lower the rating of your bag, so bring something worth carrying in the first place for sure. Proper layering helps a lot too. In extreme situations, rolling up in your tarp can give you extra insulation. This winter it got down to 25 on me in Tucson, which is about as cold as I can take laying out in the open, with a bag only good to about 30 now.

The OG Vagabond type are like a more fit, tanned version of Santa who brings little nuggets of wisdom instead of toys. It's a combination of time spent on the road and applying themselves to go far. They're few and far between, often they reach a certain age and retire into an RV or a spot they scoped out innawoods as a kid. They're the kind of guy who has a fishing pole strapped to his pack and actually uses the damn thing, knows all the good fishing, etc.

>respect
You have to understand there's many more subgenre than simply "vagabond/rainbow" and a hilarious amount of posturing goes on. Something that draws you respect in some circles could garner distaste in others. The only real way to increase your respect across the board is by traveling inna backpack, I'd say. This will increase your exposure to all facets of the life, assuming you're actually moving around to new places and really exploring the places you do know, it's impossible for you not to gain experience; it shows in your demeanor.

However, like I said, there's a lot of different subgenre of vagabond/homeless. The rainbow kid who's been from gathering to gathering for a few year, relying on the kitchens and only having to hitch between gatherings a few times perhaps, would probably get shat on by other groups that spend the same time in 'Babylon'-even if those groups rely on the cities and the system there just as much. Being a hippie dippy kid with some junkpunks might get you beat up and robbed, but being a junkpunk at a rainbow gathering might get you tied to a tree, you follow? And someone from both of those subgenres talking shit about the system while relying on its handouts might make other folk like me not want to hang out with them. But that's fine, we belong in tribes, as long as we can agree to exist as subgenres submitting to a higher law. That bullshit can be saved for some other philosophical discussion though.

They designed them and Propper produced them under license.

Not that these have a more backpacking style layout with the straps attached and some of the load above your head, and the straps are very good, but they are not better than an Alice in every way.

For example they are slightly heavier.

>>724085
You just pack what you need in a bag depending on climate, have some way to panhandle (or find work and save up) and go to a highway with enough space on the shoulder for someone to safely pull over. Train hopping should wait until an experienced hopper is willing to take you. The skills you will need are:
>scoping out places to sleep where you won't be bothered
>knowing where you are and where you are going so you don't get stuck in some shitty outer suburb or in a dangerous part of town
>being presentable on highways but not so much in cities
>meeting people, making friends, being a good judge of character and not being overly trusting but not paranoid either
>navigating your way through public transit systems or just in general. Having a smartphone and using free wifi makes this much easier
>being accepting of some really weird fuckin people

I hang out with most everyone as well, but I don't give people things to earn their trust or respect. I don't smoke and I haven't really drank in years, nothing bothers me more than someone I don't know trying to hang out because they tried to give me a cigarette or a schwill. I've seen fellow dirty kids let housies or yuppies into our circles just because they kicked the kids a pack of cigarettes. $7 is all it took to gain their trust. These are not the kind of people I prefer to associate with, though I will exist with them if I have to.

>>
>>725106
Eh, in my experience you can do fine as a girl, you need to be ready to hold your own and prove yourself though.
That can get exhausting, granted, so I usually travel with a guy but if we get into a weird situation I'm usually the first one to go into defense mode and pull my knife.
Even the scrawniest dude travelers I've met can be the toughest "I don't want to mess with that fucker" people, if you're not ready to get dirty and do some things you don't want to do to survive good luck though.

>>
>>725117
Damn homie you definitely don't live in Canada, hostels here are expensive as fuck.
I keep backup emergency hostel money in case my traveling partner and I get caught in a city with drunk, violent natives overnight but a hostel can run 2 people anywhere from 75-150$ a night here.
When I travel I have a tiny 3 person tent that straps nicely to my bag, super mobile and if I gotta bunker down in the middle of the night because I'm not getting a ride I won't have to try and sleep in a tree or with the fucking moose.
>>
>>725077
The term vagabond just implies that you haven't a 'stable house or job' and you like it that way.

>>725093
You'll be fine as long as you can stand up for yourself and you're prepared to do what you have to in order to survive.
>>725116
Props if you've traveled alone but I've only known a few who did it out of a backpack without a guy or road dogs, and they were always in cities with a dog of their own, almost assuredly between roaddogs or boyfriends and with the security of the street culture backing them. If they were alone it was a short stint almost always littered with some shitty stories about weirds. The other girls I knew who were alone have always been in vehicles, usually with a dog too.

I mean, shit, I know if while hitching I can get taken to a motel and put up for a few days of debauchery with a lonely female then girls who hitchhike and go it alone must get propositioned like crazy.

Apparently though he's actually a sex offender. Like a diddled-two-little-boys-spent-fifteen-years-in-prison sex offender. He doesn't hang out there any more since he found out we knew. I actually feel bad for the guy, cause he seems really lonely. But still.

Like, I never smoked but people will give me smokes so I can just give those to other street punks. And if I spange enough for a 40 then I share some sips. After that they always share booze and whatnot with me. Two-way street.
Of course, it's not a replacement for actual talking and hanging out. It's a good way to let them know you're easy-going and not uptight.

I wrote a poem out of nowhere today, tell me what you guys think. I've never written any poems before, hardly read any either, so be warned - it probably sucks.

A yearning wish to walk away...
is that such a crime?
Walking along your own path,
leaving comfort behind?
Who are they to judge
the actions of another,
whose alleged fallacy
is nought but seeking something other?
Conformity, obedience,
these norms that mark our time,
wishing to be free of these
should not be deemed a crime.
Venture out, is what I say,
to wherever you may go.
Don't listen to the naysayers;
the ones who tell you no.
Just keep this simple fact in mind
wherever it is you roam;
However far your feet have brought you,
you are always home.

I've learned quick to approach traveling alone very differently.
I don't hitchike alone, ride shares have saved my ass many times. Also; if I'm going to be out late alone I've learned to make myself look as manly as possible, dark clothes to hide my figure, hood up, I always wear boots and I have a sailors stride from walking all the time so most people just leave me alone. My biggest problem is drunks and crack heads usually but they're pretty easy to shake off. Sometimes they're fun to talk to, I met a one armed, bike fixing crack head once. Nice dude, told me if I ever needed a bike fixed or some crack I knew where to find him lol.
>>725171 yes and no, if you get stuck on the highway at night you're fucked. A lot of our woods are fenced in along the highways, not sure if its to keep animals from running across the road or to keep people from hunting illegally but camping can get hard, if were not having luck hitchhiking we usually just go to the closest town we can find and find a clearing to stay the night or a punk house to crash at. Fucking lot of thievery though so unless I'm partying that night I try to stay away from punk houses
>>725346 the what now? I just use a map, my thumbs and sometimes a witty sign. I've driven through Canada so many times throughout my life I know the highways pretty well in the east coast and aight in the west coast. Well, well enough to know you should stay out of the mountains unless you got a straight shot drive through and the prairies are boring as shit when you're not having any luck.

Just don't over pack god damn I learned that the hard way, I've gotten pretty good at jimmy rigging my clothes back to a wearable state from complete tatters, so pack light but keep sewing stuff on you and bam, infinite wardrobe.

I knew what you meant and understand the reasoning behind it, I sometimes pick up an empty tobacco pouch every now and then and fill it with snipes/kickdowns to give away or trade for bud. I try to be righteous but people will mistake courtesy and kindness for weakness and blindness.

To better explain my reasoning, I'm not the most easy going and I'm pretty uptight when it comes to certain things. I might be happy and hanging out but it's more often than not a courtesy. This is not something I'm necessarily proud of. It's reminiscent of my earlier days and the life I lived before traveling, involving the power structure that surround drugs. Having such insight into those various worlds has both helped me and isolated me, caused me to find others who follow the 'golden path' and in doing so solidified my position therein. It's like being a Lion in sheep's clothing when the wolf comes for his feast.

The golden path is having the knowledge of evil, having truly experienced and lived it without getting in too deep, and choosing to be righteous despite how easy being evil is and how difficult maintaining 'good' can be.

There's a good quote somewhere around here..

“As long as what you are afraid of is something evil, you may still hope that the good may come to your rescue. But suppose you struggle through to the good and find that it is also dreadful? How if food itself turns out to be the very thing you can’t eat and home the very place you can’t live, and your very comforter the person who makes you uncomfortable. Then, indeed, there is no rescue possible: the last card has been played.”

I really need to stop getting off on philisophical tangents.

My first rule of traveling is 'Don't make quick friends in new places'

You need to be a survival master to survive innawoods permanently. I wish i could do it but i can't get enough food. You can't just eat fish all day everyday. And by the way otherwise i wouldnt be postinf here right now lol.

Ive been on the rails for 10 days straight once without going in a town. I left with 4 day supply of food and didnt eat anything at all for like 50 hours at one point. Refilled water at lake which i cooked and ate tons of fish. Its kinda scary when youre on a train in the middle of nowhetr with no food and just a littlebit of water left.

But it has changed things, no facet of life has gone unscathed by the social media globalization. People all over the world sound relatively similar in thought process and patterns.

In fact, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Here you have 4chan, a website where people from all over the world gather to fling shit at eachother. Some of this shit winds up sticking and becomes culture, we call them memes. Thanks to global internet, these memes are a huge driving factor of small every day interactions. These memes trickle down through the various social medias until it's easy low hanging fruit for the masses to enjoy.

We might have minor superficial differences but mean nothing when our value structures, thought processes and jokes are all the same.

Most people just dont know any better. From birth we have been told that we want to get a job, a house and a family, and if you dont have those things youre a loser. There are so many people that would be happier if they lived a hobo life. Most of them dont even see it as an option, and others dream about it everyday but they cant do it because they built up too much in their life.

To be completely honest, if i grew up in an upper middle class family, had good education and a steady job, i probably wouldnt leave either. Its too much to give up.
But i come from a working class family. I dropped out of college and i had no wife/gf. I worked in a warehouse for a couple of months and said fuck it, this is not the life im going to live for the next 50 years. Theres no reason to live a miserable paycheck to paycheck life. I would rather live a life of poverty and adventure than poverty and depression.

I can't speak for vagafags but there's a shit-ton of pretentious SJW posturing among Bohemian / grungy / crusty types around the venues, art scenes and coffeeshops. Totally destroyed what little punk scene there was in this city with "gegen Nazis" patches on kids who's apartment and lifestyle is still subsidized by their parents at 24. If the grungy stoners that hang out in the park and play guitar are any indication, it's one thousand times worse among the nomad / vagabond types, than it is with the musicians and artists.

Might have to leave soon, the manager is giving me the stink eye lol.

He was a quote book from that movie American pimp, I swear he knew every damn word, it was funny as Fuck. I was in the mall for about 45 mins with my big ass, way overpacked backpack before some dude comes up to me asks me where I'm going and shit. He tells me he's throwing a carnival at his lake house and invites me to come along for the weekend. I went with him, he bought me some scotch and pot and sure enough we come to his lake house on the beach. His wife is silly as shit, kept tripping that her cats would scratch me. Pepper Pete and honey Bob were their names. They were nice cats. They had a neice over for the carnival who is my age, ended up banging her in my tent on the beach. Sure enough too they threw a fuckin carnival, 200+ people from the area, they brought in rides and prizes and everything it was dope. Good times, definitely a good first hitching experience.

I've dipped my toes in the lifestyle a little bit but I don't really understand all the elitist dirty kids that say you're not "real" unless you were "forced into the lifestyle", but when they're offered a way out of the lifestyle they won't take it.

I mean, I get that travelling is addictive. Settling down in one place is really hard, but can you really blame the middle/upper class kids who just ditch out to travel around for fun? Personally I left because I was living in my van working a full-time job and I realized I'd rather see the country than do what I was doing, but I realized there's some things I want to do with my life that require having a place to live to do them. Still have that travel itch though.

There's actually a lot of different common outfits for dirty kids, usually because they have some kind of utility, but a lot of the time it's because it's just something they like to wear. Most kids don't go out of the way for their shit, they just wait until it comes to them. Like, if you only have one set of clothes, you could start out with a white T-shirt and a regular pair of chinos and if you're homeless and walking around the city for long enough you'll end up with all kinds of clothes.I found a really cool tan jacket with corduroy pockets and a weird purple inside lining on the side of the tracks in Sac and gave it to my road dog at the time. Kids usually patch up their own pants and over time they just end up being made out of patches. A good amount of train kids seek out overalls because they're durable and they keep you really warm.

If you actually know travelling kids who shop for clothes then that's crazy as hell to me. I bought a shirt at Goodwill one time because I'd just lost my only other long-sleeve shirt and I was in Colorado, the rest of my shit came from free boxes or I found it.

It's not about being the most crusty, it's about actually doing it and not relying on a fallback, not even considering a plan B. You're either on the bus or you're not, and everyone on the bus can tell when you're not on it.

This is why so much posturing goes on, because people not familiar with it think that it's about being a crustpunk or full hippy dippy. Its neither, and 'elitism' exists because we get tired of people misinterpreting shit-including people new to the lifestyle thinking that we consider the crustpunks cool for being crusty. Look at all the GG Allin patches at a housie punk show.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leatherman_(vagabond)

You're going to tell me this guy would be considered tryhard for being crusty and having his own style?

I hate GG as much as the next guy but at least he went all the way. No half measures, if you're going to so something you'd better try to be the best at it.

But this is all irrelevant, elitism and classism and tribalism permeate every facet of life. The street world goes almost hand in hand with the drug world. What you said was the equivalent of

>I don't understand elitism among addicts. The person hustling for their fix trying not to hurt any one directly is no better than the idiot carhopping to get his and begging for a rinse when he gets a little sick.

Or in a better analogy

>I don't understand the elitism among stoners. The guy who grows his own and works a full time job is no better than the neet who plays vidya all day and uses his mom's money to buy weed
>>
The reason these people suck so much is because they lack the tools to allow them to enjoy or function in society, those of you in this thread that expect hobos to be saints or immune to social elitism are retarded. These people can hardly be called people. They will have more image issues and emotional issues than the average person at every level. If you are just a thru hiker stay away from these fools.
>>
>>733396

You're not wrong.

It's a way of life I'll never understand or truly care to. I merely came by to take a jab at your filthy jimmies.
>>
>>733396
>elitism and classism and tribalism permeate every facet of life
Believe it or not there are people that have nice things and self respect as well as the respect of their peers. You make it sound like being a "normie" is a bad thing.

I also do not believe for a minute you are 100% self sufficient, ergo you are already relying on a fallback and services.
>>
I really dont understand the hate for hobos. I chose this life because i dont want freedom. I dont owe anything to society and i dont demand anything from society. If people want to help me out by donating, they can do that. If you dont want to, then you dont have to. At least im not taking money from taxpayers that dont want to contribute to my lifestyle. And in turn for a donation i will play music on my harmonica.

So whats the problem? Im technically even with society. I just choose to live a simple life.
>>
>>733498

>>
>>733498
>>733503

But are you really free?
>>
>>733506
Is anybody you fag
>>
>>733506
This is the closest i can get to true freedom personally. I know its possible to be completely self sufficient, only depending on mother nature, but i dont have the necessary skills (yet) to survive on my own long term.
But i do know i am much more free than when i was working a job and living in an appartment.
>>
>>733468
>believe it or not..
Yes, and believe it or not, you are the company you keep. Just because someone is good at social interactions doesn't mean they won't recognize who they prefer to keep at a distance.

Did I imply 'normies' we're bad? I meant to imply settling for average is bad. Aim high, no matter what you do. Take pride in doing a good job. If you're a cashier then be the best cashier you can be and if it's not making you happy work towards what will.

When I said a fallback I mean like a fallback life. A number to call to get a greyhound to a place they can stay and go back to 'living the normal life' because they're 'done' or taking an extended break.

Like they're not an artist looking to spread their art, or a loner with severe wanderlust that won't quench, or running from a broken home looking for a new one. Just a tourist looking to escape the life they'll paint themselves back into once they're 'done' or in a bind.

Real vagabonds see their escapades into a system of society as breaks from their normal life as a vagabond, the others see their adventure in the streetlife as temporary deviations from their 'normal life'. You follow?

I never made a claim to be entirely 'self sufficient' in the sense that I'd have to be farming/hunting my own food or making my own clothes and all the other usual bullshit that comes when someone argues that someone else isn't self sufficient. The guy I just linked relied on people to put food out. No man is an island, especially in today's world. I'm not sure I made claim to being one. Even if you were coming down from the mountain once a month to buy rice and sell furs some faggot would bitch that you weren't self sufficient for using a path already made or a bullet you didn't forge.

Well I never thought it would ever happen but I am homeless for the first time in my life.
>girlfriend's car is in the shop (Italian POS)
>she's going to see her family for the weekend
>let her take my main car, to the airport, I take my weekend fun car to the gym
>get back from gym
>the keys to my condo are on the keyring for my other car
So I have no way to get into my home, no money (wallet inside my condo), my only possessions are my car, my phone, and my gym clothes. The seat barely reclines so IDK what the fuck I am going to do, almost impossible to sleep in here. I'm hoping I can go the the shop where my girlfriends car is to get the other condo keys but IDK if they are open on Saturdays, and that still leaves tonight. It's really a sickening feeling to be homeless, I have a lot more respect than I ever had before now that I am going through it myself.

>>
>>734404
It's sad that you think of being homeless as some kind of badge of honor or special club. I'm homeless, yes for a short time, but it's an unfortunate situation, it would be even more unfortunate if I had no end in sight like many people in the street. White teenage runaways are not comparable to actually homeless people, yeah I was an edgy "anti establishment" kid way back when listening to Behind Enemy Lines and writing cool stuff on my backpack too, but I grew out of it. Back then the movement was about not caring about anything or anyone, apparently these days it's about being a real cool authentic crust punk VIP, pretty hilarious actually that people actually think that way, hopefully one day you will grow up and get some perspective.

You're like a textbook case of denial and frustration brought on from lack of understanding upon meeting something that throws a wrench in your pretty little picture.

I think the most hilarious difference between you and I is that I'm actually /out/ 24/7 and I've talked to thousands of people on both sides of it, while you probably don't talk to anyone outside your job or school. also,
>I guess Hippies, Pranksters and The Beat generation didn't exist then, huh?

Whoa faggot, I didn't know all their things I obtained while homeless and work damn hard to keep from the addicts you so righteously defend meant that my upbringing w/ abusive stepfathers and a retarded lovable single mother didn't happen.

I mean, I guess in your world not only are you allowed to have literally nothing while homeless, by any time you do gain something-even if you worked for it, you have to sell it for drugs or you're not a real homeless.

I mean, I know you're a faggot but really. I can trim weed for $100 a lb, two lbs a day minimum, for a week and make a grand easily. From there it's as simple as not being a dumb faggot like you assume everyone else is because you were a dumb faggot.

I don't know why I'm still trying to argue with you, it's clear you know very little and assume a great deal. Anyone who thinks the hipsters are worse than the mentally ill addicts is mostly assuredly a retard with a narrow understanding.

>hurr those addicts didn't have a choice! They're just poor, real homeless!
1/3 of the homeless in Seattle lives in a vehicle. ONE IN THREE, just because you're a stupid cunt who thinks anyone not crusty must be an unfortunate soul doesn't make it true. Hahaha I'm not even on the road currently but even I do not have time to argue about all this dumb shit. I'd have even less time with an Internet connection out there, I feel bad for all the curious "housies" and normal vagabonds out there that just want a normal discussion.

Are you kidding me? You're not supposed to keep PB in the fridge. And it stays good for weeks if not months. I don't know what kind of PB you buy but thats wrong. I bet you also think you have to keep eggs in the fridge.

You know, when I was a hobo(I now do a couple commercial fishing boats per year then do nothing the remaining 6 months), I wasn't proud of it because I did not have the emotional competancy to live in society. Though I was more /out/ than you guys. I actually lived in the woods solo. I went to town less than 4 times per month. Had a great time. Enjoyed it. But I knew I was only there because I had failed pevious challenges. Sure I love the woods, and could do this my entire life. But we have expectations as humans, and if you are going to live this life don't deny that the expectations that anyone has ever had of you will be ruined. Sure you can knock all of that stuff off with "thats society maaaan you sheeep", well, most people get over that thought at 14. And most people stop maturing when bad things happen to them. So you guys are just mad your parents got divorced. Stop being faggots. Live your life, live this life. Don't act like you're anything more than a worthless drunk though. That's what you are. Don't try to prove to anyone that it's better, because your vocalizations and typed words are just you trying to convince yourself to continue your struggle. Spineless. Nobody's style of life is superior no matter how much you've come to like it. While I suspect stockholm sydrome leads you to like it.
>>

That's cute. I've been in a different town every day for the last few weeks, walked some of the Oregon Coast trail, all the while squatting in doorways living out of my backpack, and I'm easily the most obnoxious shitposter itt

Step up your game friend.

I'll admit I wouldn't be posting as much if I didn't have service on this phone, but it's only $30 for unlimited shitposting for a month. My only real bill besides dog food. I don't even smoke cigarettes or drink.
>>
>>736917
The fuck are you on about? Why so ignorant? I just prefer a hobo life over being housed up. Im not comparing myself to anyone, and i dont feel the need to compare myself to anyone.

I doubt you were a real hobo. You just say that in an attempt to get some credibility and then you continue to tell us how much you hate hobos. No need to lie about that, mate.
>>
>>736917
>nobody style of life is better than anyone else's
>proceeds to shit on a lifestyle and generalize everyone

If I had a nickel for every faggot who thinks they're an authority on the subject because they were in between jobs or houses for a time..

>I could live innawoods indefinitely
Sure you could faggot, I'm sure you wouldn't be lonely or bored. I'm sure you didn't spend every waking moment of your 'homeless' life regretting falling into the situation and feeling sorry for yourself, wondering how you could get back to satisfying those peers you know you let down.

Every time one of you faggots opens up about your previous venture you let slip a ton of projection and rationalisation. You're basically trying to talk to what you perceive is someone exactly like your former self. It's no surprise you suffer from Stockholm syndrome and attempt to project the disorder onto others.
>>
Motion to start a new thread?
This one has gone sour pretty quick. We need some house rules or something to make sure information flows a little better, rather than have some faggots dick joust about who's way of living homeless is better.
>>
>>736957
>house rules
>house
GET OUT GET OUT GET OOOOOOUT

No but i agree. This whole thread has gone to shit. Lets start over and keep it clean this time.
>>
>>736957
>>736960
>rules
None of that dickwaving bullshit is going on, its just faggots coming in and complaining about the crusties and the rest of us bitching at them for thinking we're crusties or that we like those hipsters at all. In fact, most of the dickwaving faggotry is the non-vagabonds coming in and telling us we need to 'go home' because we're not 'really homeless'

Go back through the thread, there's tons of people who just popped in to talk shit. It has nothing to do with us and what we were talking about. Perhaps you guys would prefer we just didn't reply to ignorant cunts talking shit about things they don't know?
>>
>>736965
I understand there is a large amount of hate towards homeless on /out/. However, you guys are allowing yourselves to get trolled by these assholes, and end up impeding relevant information from getting through to people. I saw a thread a while back about actual scouts. You can obviously tell who's a troll and who was legitimate, because scouts know how to ignore assholes when they see them and carry on their conversation. That's what makes a good thread. But when it turns into a dispute, it changes the nature of the thread and people are not able to post without being dragged in or simply ignored because their post isn't relevant anymore. I'd say just grow a thicker skin. Only you truly know what your struggles really are and there's should be a level of self respect to go with that. That's understood, but in boards like these people get off from antagonizing each other. Better to ignore them than reply and mess up the thread for the rest of us.

Fair enough. It's just too easy to respond to them sometimes. It takes a pretty pathetic person to try and attack people they consider very beneath them, it's hard to let them get away without calling them an ignorant faggot.
>>
>>737013
I don't give a shit what you do as long as you stop asking me for money and stop ruining other people's property. Bums are the fucking scum of society. I guess we really shouldn't expect anything more out of you but fucking christ, you guys are bitching about respect when you respect nothing. Exterminate all Bums now.
>>
>>736954
>>736953
Yep exactly this. First of all you two sorry sobs need improved reading comprehension. Second of all to assume such things about me is all that needs to be said. It's obvious how uncomortable you are. You cannot imagine me without me having stockholm syndrome and being incapable of living in the woods. Any other besides that reality is harmful to yours. But go ahead, write the same thing I wrote and re-direct it at me again. You might be the same person, or just equally stupid.
>>
>>736936
The question isn't if there is the actual time to shitpost, it's why you'd want to be shitposting when there's stimulating things to experience out there. I just kinda feel bad for ya guys, missing out on stuff.
>>
>>737106
How do you know he's a bum? Not every houseless person is necessarily a bum you know..
>>
>>737353
Anon, I don't think you understand how much free time we have..
>>
>>737254
What? I didn't deny you couldn't be off in the woods, I was stating the obvious deductions made from all that silly bullshit you posted.

That you felt you'd disappointed people in your life when you were out innawoods, including yourself, and saw the experience as yourself failing. That you were a pathetic loser and falling out to become innawoods bum would only solidify that idea in the mind of your peers(and subsequently you) since you reached that point by losing in life. Now, you think you're winning in life because you're not living what you perceive to be a lesser lifestyle, or something else equally retarded, because right before you made the point that "nobody's style of life is better no matter how much you've grown to like it".

Also that you hilariously hate being generalized or assumed upon but can't help doing it yourself every time you try to formulate a thought. You project a lot! For example, "you need reading comprehension" or "any reality other than that is harmful to yours" are basically statements showing off your lack of reading comprehension and being how you're unable to accept that people can be a vagabond without being a pathetic drunk, or whatever special kind of loser you were when you were homeless.

Plus you can't into sentence flow/structure, but this is a minor detail I'm using to bait you into getting angry. You strike me as the type who'd make such a comment without irony.

Not all homeless are shitheads that deserve their situation but I suspect you were the type.

Oh get fucked hippy, I was born and raised here. That's the same speech you give when you're handcuffed on the sidewalk.
>>
>>737489
Why would I be handcuffed, other than for them to check for warrants? The police are paid off and controlled by people I'm sure you know about if you were born there.

Everyone in the Haight knows who the killer on the street is, has a gun and literally everyone knows it. He doesn't fuck with what we'd call normal people though, only mainly messing with other drug dealers and the such. He gets picked up by the cops and let go even though they know each and every one of us, plenty of narcs in that town. Only people who commit crimes randomly and at the expense of normal taxpaying folk get fucked there.

Also because you mentioned macey's I assume you must be in a shit neighborhood filled with crackheads.

not unless you have a gun and want to kill people and probably get killed.
