So this Summer I'll be working in Yellowstone National Park from May-August.
It's a full time job, but nothing special (kitchen/restaurant work).
>~35hr/week and 2-3 days off per week.
On the upside, I'm looking forward to some great climbing, trails, and back-country hiking.
I've never been to YNP though, so I'm curious if anyone has some trail suggestions or a "must do" list of other things to do/see while I'm there.

that's awesome OP! get book related. about half the people or more who die in accidents at jellystone are employees. it would be good to know what mistakes they made on their days off.

also are you a boy or a grill? i stayed there in early May when the place was completely empty and every girl who worked there wanted me to bone the shit out of her. receptionists, front desk clerks, waitresses. i couldn't get them offa my caulk.

Yeah, the first thing their HR department told me when I accepted the job was about employee deaths.
I'm a (single) guy, so I do plan to capitalize on that.

I'm working at Yellowstone Lake at the hotel.
However, my friends and I do have a car, so it's not like I'm stuck there.

Apparently there's a lot of international employees, so I'm hoping to mark some countries off the sexual portion of my bucket list.

Neat, my mom and aunt are both working at yellowstone this summer as well.
>>
Looks like I'll be joining you, OP.
The position offered is Old Faithful Inn EDR crew.
If there are any other Sc/out/s working this Summer, we should organize a meetup.

OP might be your uncle by the end of the summer

Aren't there more bear attacks at Yellowstone than the rest of the US combined?
>>
>>722033
you've clearly never been to Philly Pride

My mom is single, so I have no issues there, but my aunt has been married for decades. He'll have to bring his A game. Aunt is actually at mammoth hotsprings.

I lived in Gardiner, MT for a few years and spent loads of time in the park.

The trail I am most familiar with starts at the Hellroaring gravel pit and follows the river to Gardnier. About 17 miles, enough elevation changes to make you work some but not a ton, unless you scramble down into the canyon and back up. Good scenery. Will have a good bit of traffic during the summer.

Also highly recommend hiking the Lamar Valley trail. Short and easy but great views. If you do it at first light or dusk you are likely to see some interesting wildlife.

If you have never been to the park before you should prepare yourself for the fact that during the summer, any trail or point of interest near a road will be absolutely jammed full of tourists from sun up to sun down. Most of them asian or indian, and they'll speak or at least pretend to speak very little English. Vanloads of them will clog up every turn off and parking lot and intersection in the park. I hope you are planning to live inside the gates.

On the bright side you can get away from them easily by knowing where to go. You don't even have to get into the back country, but that is definitely an option. There'll be people there as well but they are generally pretty decent folks and don't shit the place up.

YNP is an amazing place, really. That short period between Labor Day when the crowds died down, and the snows cutting off access, provided some of the most amazing /out/ times I have ever had.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely have to check them out.
I'm working near the center of the park. Luckily they have us housed in employee dorms (right next to the lake hotel). So while I do have a car, I don't always have to rely on it to get places.

Sorry to break it to you anon, but most of the foreigners will be russians and chinese on work visas who hardly speak any english. They get tax write offs for foreign workers or students or something. They also do tons of stupid shit (especially the russians).

Nice, I went up electric peak last summer and spent the following day in gardiner. Cool spot.

That is a very beautiful area. I went up to Yellowstone when I was 10, and right in a bit of woods around the lodge my father and I stumbled upon a resting bison. Scary, yet beautiful.
