This was given to me by a friend. I can not think of the name of this rock.
Mineralogists, pls halp.
>>712404
That's crack right there.
>>712404
Need more pictures, close up and sharper.
Also basic infos.. How hard is it, is it flakey? Streak color? I'm a geologist but it's hard to identify shit from just a picture.
That's synthetic Marijuana, op.
>>712419
White streak, I don't happen to have the tools handy to determine hardness on my person. It *is* scratched by a knife blade.
>>712432
From that angle I'd say it's primarily fluorite that happens to have grown in a botryoidal habit. First picture just looked almost like there was some mica in there so I was thinking maybe lepidolite but never seen any like that.
Anyway 99% it's fluorite, with a little bit of other stuff in there.
>>712419
Another picture of the originally posted side
>>712437
It may contain flourite, but not the rock itself. Also spoiler, I at least asked and he remembered it specifically not being majority flourite.
The slight tinge of purple makes me think Amethyst, but I'm no minerologist
>>712404
you kinda suck at taking these photos. But it's understandable if you're not aware of what interests the geologist..
So the shape is weird looks like its at least partially crystalized, but I might be wrong i cant see the cleavage right.
Does it look shell-structures like a broken off edge of a glass object?
The wobbly surface looks a bit like some kind of mica like >>712437 thought.
Maybe it's a filled out cavity from a magmatic rock and after the weak, probably uncrystalized magmatic rock weathered away this cristaline filling of a former gas-cavity remained.
That might explain why the wobbly side looks like a different mineral, it crystalized faster/at first from liquids flowing through the rock.
I have seen this shit before out hiking but didn't both to pick it up or get too close because it looked like mutated spoor.

Its unicorn poop. Trust me im a geologist.
>>713275
^ As a licensed veterinarian who's worked on several unicorns, I assure you this guy's a fraud.
It's lepidolite
The purple is caused by Lithium
Source: I /out/ for a living
Check out this terminated peridot with rutile

Should also mention your specimen is pretty nice op, lepidolite generally comes like that or in other various odd Micha forms, even sometimes being extremely hard and looking nothing like micha.
The reason the other guy hasn't seen any that looks like that is because there's a lot of really low quality shit that's basically micha with a bit of lithium and that's all anyone ever sees of it.
If it doesn't flake, it's probably chalcedony, but this is not a relevant statement as I'm positive it's lepidolite.
>>712404
That's what happens when you eat too much hard tack, OP
>>713487
fuck lizards, post more pretty rocks
>>713467
>>713487
Yeah, its probably botryoidal lepidolite.
>>714925
Bump with a nice chunk of nepheline syenite. I need macro lens and better lighting system.
>>714980
that rock sucks.
>>714986
You're mother.
>>712404
Its a kind of Uraninit. I wouldt keep it senpai
>>714987
them curves hnnngh
>>715131
Have some large scale curves.
>>714987
You are mother?
>>714925
Fuck you, check out these spores instead
>>716417
It's lepidolite nerd
Fuck
I'm a vagabond who learned rocks on the road, step it up sempai
>>716923
I miss this camera
Shit was prime
Really gemmy piece of epidot on quartz.
