Need something that won't shit out on me, and a few pieces of cookware that won't warp. I've had TOAKS pots warp on the bottom before, and will no longer sit on anything without rocking.

MSR pocketrocket seems to be popular
>>
I'm a big fan of my Primus Yellowstone Classic. It's not the lightest or fanciest stove but it's rugged as fuck and cost $20.

As for cookware I prefer stainless steel. Not the lightest stuff, but again durable and affordable.
>>
>>702264
I use a pocketrocket, and have had no complaints
>>
>>702235
GSI cookware is pretty solid. Pocket rocket is good.

If you take care of not running out of gas, the only thing that can fail you in a canister stove is the sparkler. Seriously, you have to hit them with a rock to break the burner.
>>
>>702264
>>702316
Same here. I like it
>>
>>702344
My stove doesn't have a piezo, one less thing to break.
>>
>>702316
me too.
I have a primus omnifuel for extreme cold temperatures and longer trips. I mainly prefer the pocket rocket though.

SVEA 123! lost the key to mine though, don't do that. it's cheaper to just get a new one entirely than to replace the key.

I got a Kovea spider, a remote canister stove.
>really stable stand, since not canister top mounted
>has a preheater and works in colder conditions, can even feed liquid Propane/Butane
>can use 360° wind shield

Can't go wrong with msr pocket rocket, I used one for along time. I just cook over a campfire now cause I disliked the cost of the canisters and the volume they take up in a pack and feel more resourceful this way.
>>
>>702656

Svea men are real men. I'd post pictures of mine but I'm too lazy
>>
>>702656
Also, how did yours get so sooty? Do you use gasoline or something?

I have one and I like it, but I usually carry my snowpeak because it has a pizo and you can get a ti wind shield for it. You can get the made in china knock off for six bucks on ebay though. If you want something bomb proof get a good wood gas stove. Toaks makes rhe nicest. You can make one for very litle money by drilling a stainles wine cozy. You can also make a very light disposable one by using cans.
>>
Anyone have experience with the Etekcity Ultralight stove? It's cheap as fuck and it has really good reviews on Amazon
>>
>>703153
You can boil water with it or prepare foods in boiling water (such as pasta) - the flame ring is small and the heat is focused in one spot so it isn't really suited for cooking.

Can't beat the price...

I use a MSR Whisperlite International stove. I only bought it because the dual sport motorcycle (DR650) that I bought came with 2x 33oz MSR fuel cannisters for "extra fuel" storage so I figured I might as well pack a camp stove that could use the same fuel cannisters and gasoline that I was already carrying on my moto-camping trips. It is kinda pricey but the stove works great. You can see one MSR fuel canister on the back of the bike in this pic, there is another on the other side. Pic is of the bike loaded down for a 3 week trip.

What >>703165 said.

Small flame ring is the only bad thing IMO. I use it together with a wood burning stove since i always hike in forest areas.

Seconded. My in-laws got me one for christmas a few years back. It's fantastic for 20 buckeroos.

If I were counting ounces and cutting the handle off my toothbrush I might go for something lighter, but it just works. The only thing it doesn't have that I'd like is a push-button igniter, but that's not a big deal.

>Small flame ring is the only bad thing

I wouldn't say it's bad - it's designed for boiling water in small diameter pots and it works great at that.

> Primus Yellowstone Classic

I've seen them at Walmart and they look like a great little stove. It has a nice wide flame ring and appears to be perfect for actually cooking (as opposed to just heating water).
>>
>>703922
Yeah, it's excellent for cooking on as far as backpacking stoves go. My wife and I got snowed in with no power a few years back so I cooked for 2 days on it. Worked really well.

That stove is from my childhood, likely older than me (or close).

We camped almost every weekend in PNW when I was young and it has seen hundreds, if not thousands, of hrs burn time.

Almost always white gas, though leaded gas was a possibility.

I doubt I will ever polish it.

Found this old Coleman model 5438k700 at Goodwill yesterday (5 bucks) and took it canoeing with us today. I was really pleased with its performance, the heat output is fully adjustable for cooking and it can boil the hell out of some water. I probably wouldn't wanna carry it on an extended hiking trip, but hauling it around in an Old Town 158 was no problem.

Seconding the stowaway pots.
Nice guage stainless steel with a stamped bottom so that it distributes heat well and doesn't warp.

I also have a GSI stainless bottle cup that I use for either a dish or cooking vessel.
>>
>>702235
alright you may call me a faggot

i found a really nice flat thick rock and i spent like 5 hours chipping it and made a shallow bowl out of it

it never warped although i dropped it and it broke in half so it might be a nice quick fix
