I got these Alt-Bergs from a surplus store for $30. Almost no wear. I've used them a fair amount, and I like them a lot. They're a bit tight hut they're stretching out well. The front has padding on the top, which mashes your toes down a bit, which I don't really like. Besides that, they're great.

Any waterproof boots worth buying at a $100 or so price point?

The best boots I've worn are the vibram ones you get issued in the U.S. Army, those plus the thick foxriver socks feel perfect, I still haven't upgraded to the Reebok or Nike boots because I like these free ones.

What's the civilian equivalent, so I can hike in something that doesn't make me look like a tryhard?

Are my timberlands going to be good enough for hitchhiking/trainhopping? I dont plan on hiking in the mountains or in cold areas, but i will probably walk on a flat surface alot. I plan on doing this longterm, multiple years possibly.

So will my timberlands get the job done or should i invest in serious hiking boots? I dont have alot of money.
>>
I'm planning to get the Hanwag Lhasa boots since they're selling them for half off. should i buy them or is Hanwag a fancy name for shit quality?
>>

You need better boots, especially since you're doing it longterm. Your feet will hurt like fuck from hiking long distances in timberlands, and the boots will fall apart pretty quickly.
>>
>>697564
Not what i was hoping to hear but thank you. Do you have any idea what kind of boots i should get instead? I need boots that last long, can take a beating, and are good for flat surfaces.

Why are boot threads so shit? You'd think people would be recommending good boots that will last through hiking in rocks, slopes and all that kind of shit with minimal wear

Because serious hikers stopped wearing boots 20 years ago you yellow pages using Philistine. The only people that wear boots are construction workers and faggots who are always planning on taking up hiking someday.

Out of curiosity does anyone use redwings hiking boots? I've got some steel toes of theirs that I wear for work and love but I've been wondering about their hiking boots.
I've tried "cheap" $200 cad boots for my work and the most they've lasted is 8 months. These redwings are coming up on a year with their original sole. I feel bad cause I only recently got a boot dryer so the leather got pretty cracked but I fucking love these. Can't wait to get a sole with a shank put in then they'll be the perfect work boots

Had these (Zamberlan Vioz GTX)
They are a really nice boots and I love them, but I bought a size too small. I hiked for a couple of days in Tasmania and I've lost 5 toenails and blisters that lasted 1.5 months. I thin kthey were small because I wore them in New Zealand and they fitted fine because it was cold, but when it got hot, my feet swelled up. Should I sell these and buy the same, but a size larger?

What do? They have one of those "bars" under the ball of the foot that's supposed to be good, but it's so uncomfortable. It's not something you realize until a few miles in.

I have a 3-day backpacking trip coming up in a week. I'm gonna have to take my running shoes and alternate them with boots for the rocky parts, I guess. Would hi-tec take these back? They're pretty muddy.

was hoping to pick up these bad bitches, a pair of flippies, and then some light running shoes and be set

reviews say they are comfy, but the main this is that I want something that is extremely tall, to at least mid shin

dunno how to describe it, but once you've put on armoured motorcycle boots with shin plating and all the impact gel and shit, you feel invincible, like you could kick through a wall and not feel a thing, something that shorter boots dont give you
