Any paleos on /out? Professional, amateur, incidental, whatever.
Pic related was my first good find. Some articulated mosasaur vert from pierre shale beds near Rapid City. Been back on the property a few towns, we've found tons of fish, plesiosaur, diving birds and sea turtles. Definitely prefer field work to lab work

not really but I've found some ammonites fishing. Some other fisherman found an entire t-rex skeleton in a place where I fish some years ago after some flooding. Basically embedded in a cliff wall. Generally where I fish is a very fossil rich area.

Where do you usually fish? I've heard there's some Cenozoic stuff on some kansas lake shores
I'm a quaternary scientist, not exactly paleo but hey ho. If I ever come across an exposed soil horizon I sometimes have a scrape at it. I then sit at camp and have a think if I'm alone and bored.

Worked with a national park here in Minnesota during the summers during highschool. One of the things I did when I had nothing better to do was go help with the digs of the old Native American villages nearby. It was cool because I got to dig a hole and find artifacts that ranged from plows and bricks from my great grand parents homestead to trade beads and pipes from the fur trade.

Haven't been to the Gardens or most of the touristy stuff, but I want to check them out as well as the dinosaur museum close by

What do you mean by a quaternary scientist?

>quaternary scientist?
I believe that means he deals with the Quaternary geologic time period, which is from the present back to 2.8 million years ago.

Oh, I meant what specifically, just like saying a Mesozoic scientist could study climate, dinosaurs, plants, sea life etc
Ive always had an interest for paleontology and other such fields, and have ammased a meager collection of fossils. Some of wich i have found myself, others i have purchased. My best find is a Echinoid preserved in sandstone, and my best purchased fossil is a Megalodon tooth from the Cooper River USA (20 MYO)
