I lived my 20s like that. Went to a ton of Phish shows , spent months camping all over the US ,Canada and Mexico.
I had the time of my life and figured my friends buying houses were just suckers.
To be honest, the ones that ended up giving it all to some stupid bitch that they hate were definitely suckers.
But.
When I think of how much further ahead I could be if I had just put away a few bucks. If I had just kept the house I inherited instead of selling it to spend a year in south east asia, it just breaks my heart.
Living outside the system is efficient and in many ways I still love it, but now that I am older, it is no longer a choice and it feels pretty fucking rough some days.
It pains me to think of the grand red wine fueled speeches I gave that sound a lot like yours...

I think being on an island where most people are brown and a lot of old people surprisingly have really interesting solidarity with black people helped me.
