Fair point, I'm already fairly competent in that regard though. A few years of kickboxing plus guns knives and axes leave me feeling plenty safe. But if someone cut themselves badly or hit their head on a rock bullets won't make them better.

The Siren class in Borderlands had a perk that let her heal allies by shooting them. I, however, am not a Siren.

If you want to go whole hog, go get your EMT or First Responder certifications. There is a wilderness medicine course you can take after you get your EMT that teaches some good stuff.

That being said, even a doctor isn't gonna be all that useful, there's only so much someone can do in the field. Your cheapest option is going to be focusing on learning skills designed to evac somebody, i.e making a litter, improvising a splint and the like
