Been all over the East coast and midwest. You guys are just funny that way I suppose. There's clearly some beautiful places out there. I've hiked and camped up and down a lot of places east of the rockies. Personal favorites were aisle royale and some of the rolling hills in Tennessee are really nice.

Adding swamps is pretty retarded though. Even some of the forest in those areas are terrible. West ground, humid, gross. Our "rainforests" in the PacNW are pretty wet at times, but MUCH more comfy to camp and hang out in than over there. Plus snakes. Fuck having 10 different snakes that want to kill you.

Beyond that though, you really probably just need to come out here. I roll up and down the west coast and am still in awe at times and I've been here for 4 decades. Colorado and Wyoming are pretty great too. But really, Norcal and Oregon are where it's at for diversity. In a day I can drive from coast to rainforest to regular forest to high desert/forest to high desert, to desert, etc. etc.

You can find pics from Oregon that look like almost every other state in the union, minus tropical climates obviously.

BC Canada Sc/out/ here, I love my country and my region for its environment and back country for camping and backpacking. That beings said, after completing the John Muir back in 2010, it has opened my eyes to what the rest of the americans have to offer.

I would LOVE to go do some hiking in both Colorado and Alaska. Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota is also a bucket list for me at some point.

Some are away from the coast and make up for it with a plethora of inland water bodies.

We have tons of /out/ in this state. BBNP is god-tier desert. Aside from that, nothing is too terribly special, just good and available. We have a decent coast if you don't want to see anything while you're scuba diving. We have 7 mountain ranges partly or completely within the state. We have quite a few caves, some piney woods, some swamp, some of a lot of stuff.

That's because the state is really big. I live in the southernmost part of the panhandle and I'm approximately equidistant from Rocky Mountain National Park, Padre Island National Seashore, Petrified Forest National Park, and Texarkana. I can drive east for 12 hours at legal speeds and still be in my home state. It makes sense that we'd have some of lots of different types of terrain. It also makes sense that none of it would be terribly special because we're on the edges of most of it.

We have good /out/, but not great /out/. I'm OK with that.
