Logging is a tough job and you are on your feet all day. Why do you begrudge anyone who wants to look his nicest while while working so hard?
>>
>>644181
There must be a real reason.
>>
I tthought it was so that you put the wear and tear unto the elastic heel instead of absorbing the impact yourself.
>>
>>644166
Firefighters boots are like this too

OP please delete this thread and never ask this question again.
It is none of /out/s business why we wear high heeled boots.
>>
>>644182

I've heard various things about it being good for your back and knees if you're in amongst the soft soil and roots you get around big conifers.

Other people have mentioned traction and walking on logs.

Another reason might be to help you keep your gaffs on climbing trees. If they have a whole lot of arch support like most folks seem to claim they should be pretty comfy for climbing. Think about it like riding a bike for a whole day wearing crumby footwear, after a while your feet on those pegs are going to start hurting.

I'd quite like to try a pair one day but I need to have chainsaw protection in mine which most of the traditional american boots seem to lack.

You misunderstood anon. Its good for people who spend a lot of time on their backs and on their knees.
>>
>>644166
If they share the similarity with wildland fire boots its because you're probably hiking and standing on the sides of ridges all day long so the heel helps with that.
>>
>>644204

I wouldn't bet on it but I have a feeling they're exactly the same except the wildland boots don't have any metal in them.

Guys there is nothing gay about high heeled logger boots so stop it.
>>
I'll take a stab at it-

Boots-> Doing physical stuff-> Athletic stance-> Being on the balls of your feet
Boots just let you have wider support while keeping the stance, making sure your legs/knees arnt always locked up.

Not that hard to figure out.

Same reason cowboys and railroad workers wore boots with heels.
>>
You've heard the expression "dig in your heels"?

Logger heels let you dig in on muddy, uneven ground and plant yourself solidly.
>>
standing in steep terrain all day, the heels take some strain off when you're facing uphill.

Are my feet really supposed to be shaped like sketch B?
First I find out my penis is not in its stock configuration and now this?
Life is pain ;_;
>>
>>644210
But being on the balls of your feet is bad for your low back and knees because your center of gravity is farther forward, creating more force over the knee and causing the low back to arch excessively inwards in an attempt to place the center of gravity along the spine where it belongs. The top of the spine must then round to compensate for the low back curving inward, causing the shoulders to be out of alignment and weaker. Also because the force is farther forward your quads are activated more than they should be and your glutes are activated less than they should be for maximum muscle fiber recruitment.

Source: Have broken both ankles multiple times, causing center of gravity to shift over balls of feet. My whole body is going downhill fast, mainly for that reason.

The real reason for the high heel, of course, is manlets risking proper posture for a couple extra inches of height. When will they learn?

So your feet don't slip though your stirrups and your horse doesn't drag you half way across the state.

Really.
>>
>>644181

The Length If Heel Is Kinda Like The Arch Of The foot. We all have dif sizes. Though high heel boots might be good.for some, it's not good for all.
>>
>>645032
Presumably they are now handy in other ways, since equipment has been designed to account for the heels' presence.
>>
>>644166
Not all do, but its because of the toe spikes that loggers use to climb trees. The larger heel directs your weight at a better angle toward the tree
>>
>>645140
Toe spikes? The gaffs for climbing go at the arch of the foot.

This is right, Fire boots don't have steel toes because heavy stuff falls on them too much.
>>
>>645203
Well yeah... they do spaz.
>>
>>645945
What? Structural fire boots have steel toes. Wildland boots dont because they would heat up too much.
