This is just to prove a point to some of my friends on which motors are the best. I am not looking for specific models. Brands will do. Just to prove a point.
This has to be the absolute worst post I have ever seen.
I'm partial to Yamaha.

This is all I've ever had/used so I can't really say. Hasn't failed me yet though
Yamaha 50hp 2 stroke is the greatest because it's mine

I like yamaha, honda, and evinrude. A lot of people still run the Johnson ocean pros but I've watched too many of them die to really like them. I think they don't appreciate ethanol in gasoline very much
Mercury nation, Johnson and evinrude suck ass take it from me I've owned two evinrude and one Johnson, the Johnson ran alright but you had to run it hard and the rudes sucked ass. I got my first Mercury in 2001 haven't looked back
Mercury all day
Though yamaha is a close second, we had a boat that sat underwater for a whole winter with a yamaha 5 stroke on it. We drained the bitch, replaced the plugs and it started first pull
Probably more of a case of the previous owner looking after it properly but my '93 6hp Merc starts first time every time no matter how cold it is which is a blessing. Want to upgrade to a bigger motor soon though.
I own 25hp Suzuki lean burn. Best motor ever owned
Tohatsu is the brand i go to.
I know that they are kinda a low-tier engine, but I have 4 of them in the family, a 6hp, 9.8hp, 18hp, and a 30hp and not one of them has ever had a problem or let us down anywhere. They are really indestructible engines.

Tomos engines are the best, they have like 5hp but they just wont die, you can repair them for 30+ years, and they still run.

I have the exact same kicker as the one pictured. Had it for 10+ years and it has never failed me.
