2/2 he was actually given to us by a former land lord who couldn't take him with her when she rented the house to us. So we kept him. No clue how old or what he is. He's a really good dog though. Observant and gentle.
>>
>>617374
He seems as happy as he can be there.
>>
I have a miniature pinscher.

He is trained for tracking squirrels, rabbits, and other small game.

I yell squirrel and he runs off into the woods, he stops and barks at a tree with squirrels and alerts me to their whereabouts. I yell HOPPER and he runs around the field looking for bunnies, he has tracked 3 successfully. I have him trained to find my cat when the cat is roaming around the neighborhood, it's pretty awesome i say "find the kitty" and he runs around looking for the cat, usually the cat hears him and walks up to him, they both return to the door.

Littler fucker is super smart, and really good at finding small game.

I don't have a dog but I just want to share the best /out/ buddy I think I've ever had. Cats don't normally follow you around like a dog but she did. She'd go on hikes with me and shit, and if I started running she'd start running, and when I stopped to rest she'd climb up the side of a tree next to me. She made it about 7 years before a coyote killed her last winter. felt pretty bad :[
>>
>>617556
Aww nice kitty, I have a tuxedo kitty that followed me everywhere
>>
I can't afford a dog right now, since I already have 2 cats and tuition to deal with. I might get one once I'm done with college, though. Maybe something big.

>>617556
I bet my younger cat would follow me around outside if I lived in a less urban area. Can't let him outside since I live on a busy street, can't take him /out/ because cats don't like traveling. He's about the size of a small dog and as affectionate as a dog, too.

My little bristle haired dachshund. He's good at fighting badgers, tracking down wild boar and getting hopelessly lost chasing rabbits which outrun him easily, but being a stubborn bastard he spends the rest of the day tracking them. On the pic: we found a drinking spot which seemed to be shared by boar, deer and moose. Clever animals, they drink straight out of a spring.

I had a chocolate labrador before he had to be put down.

I'd love to have another dog. But with work during the day, and other shit to do at night, it would be unfair on the dog.

Not to mention the need for walks, vet bills, and the heartbreak when they die.

there is a reason why it's called the King of the Toys

and yeah i'll record it sometime it's pretty awesome.

They were bred back in the day to deal with rodents and small game, extremely smart dogs.
He follows directions and is trained easily even though he has all his man dog parts, which was a surprise; dogs with their balls are usually stubborn and a bit harder to train.

My /out/ buddy
>>
>>618884
Well, I moved from the city to the woods a few years ago, when we moved we had about 4 squirrels in our yard that would fuck with our bird feeder, the dog would be out on the front porch freaking the fuck out every time one was eating from the feeder so I would yell squirrel! everytime he was barking at them, eventually I started doing it out in the yard when they were on the ground and he would perk up, and start chasing them and standing at the bottom of trees, I started reinforcing this behavior and doing it when I took him out for walks in the woods, he learned it really fast within 2-3 weeks.

For rabbits I had a buddy who used his dog to hunt, so eventually I brought my dog along when I joined him on his hunts, he pretty much learned by example; following the dog and being rewarded to do so, this took a few outings to reinforce and eventually by the next season he was able to do it without the other dog. He isn't as proficient as he was with squirrels, but he really started doing well this year. The cat thing was something we did with him when he was a puppy, him and the cat were pretty much inseparable. It's cool walking with him in the woods though he goes ape shit over small animals and sometimes starts tracking them without me even giving him a command.

He makes an amazing guard dog too, the breed is considered Group 2 in FCI classification, being in the same guard class as the Boxer, Doberman, Mastiff, Rottweiler, and Great Dane, which is hilarious because of his size, but his ability to alert and assert himself is strong. the dog was originally bred to hunt vermin, which is extremely easy to reinforce in training. They go absolutely ape shit for small animals and are fearless when tracking quarry bigger than they are.

It's pretty easy to train the dog to chase anything small, the hard part is training them to stop the pursuit. I'll make a few videos sometime and post them here, you can find videos of it happening though.

He's the happiest dog in existence most times. He literally hops up and down with his fat ass for me to walk him so he can pee. Not that he has to, he's just excited. I tried to secure the tarp to keep the wind off of him while he was outside and he just sat and licked my face. He has a disliking for most men except for me though. Bit of a quirky thing with him. Most of the reason why I kept him. He won't rip an arm off but he won't let you near him. And I have had him literally plow over me to get away from my friend who's the biggest twat I know. No real fight in the man at all.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miniature_Pinscher

ctrl+f "king"

minpin is the King of the Toys.

your fluffy faggy dog isn't shit compared to the minpin

also it's pomeranian, also known as the Tumbleweed, or the Zwergspitz, which means dwarf spitz, a dog of luxury based on a german working dog, bred for nothing but lap sitting, and pleasing women.

Minpin was actually bred to do a job, unlike the pompom.

We had them on our front porch to keep them out of the rain and harsh winds we've had over the past few days. Go to scandinavia for holiday and get one from local breeders, or

Find out which swedish dog forums can help you out, go there, get connections or

best alternative is to contact swedish animal protection service (state run, I think) for shelter dogs. I know last year there was at least 2 buhund (closely related to jamthund) were given away (for free) last year in Norway on the one site I lurk on. It is not uncommon to see these types of dogs in shelters.

These dogs are very popular in Scandinavian hunting circles, but be prepared to pay top dollar for those. It could be a foot in the door though, as the less talented hunting dogs go for less.

My family has had a few jamthunds for the last 70 years. great guard dogs, because loud and attentive though they tend to alert you to anything not just the bads. To se a jamthund bark at a snail for half an hour is not uncommon.

Very protective of family, good for moose hunting when well trained. Not a 'beginner' dog. Needs lot of exercise and space.

In my family's experience they are more bark than bite, which makes them child friendly. They will bark at threats but not attack. But this is my family's experience, and hearsay from our area. I have no idea about the breed in general or any 'official' description.

How do you guys keep your dog to hang around with you? If I bring mine to the bogs, he stays somewhat close. But I'm just scared of a horse being there. I have no control over distractions.

Hello, this is dog. My boy Ace (black) and his brother. They are Boxer and Pointer mix. 8 months old. I love taking Ace out for hikes and exploring.
>>
Whats a good dog breed for hiking? I really like mixed race dogs but its still good to know what people prefer before i look into the different species.

I would prefer a dog that is good with a family (duh) and not much bigger than up to my knee (average height).

I might get a danish swedish farmdog (its really that good of a dog but i grew up with a bunch of those bastards and they are great fun)
>>
dogs aren't very LNT guys.

you shouldn't make those poor bastards exercise they are suffocating as a baseline

watch out anons there are evidently fucktards on this board that are itching to shoot dogs.
>>
>>632016
yeah we already know the board is full of gun owners
>>
>>632017
i would like to think most gun owners don't try to solve every fucking thing with their guns. but this hope is thinning. the range i go to shoot i arrived early and listened some to the people there they are full on retards. one of the faggots repeatedly pointed guns at people around him unloaded or not that's just bad manner and strictly forbidden. and nobody told him off. i used to think that gunfags were the sane ones, but it really stuck me then these people might not be the finest examples of human beings at all.

>i would like to think most gun owners don't try to solve every fucking thing with their guns
kek. although it is not "all" of them, it's too damned many. probably most. get drunk with the calmest, least flashy, most responsible gun owners you know and they'll admit they can't wait for someone to give them an excuse to blow their brains out, or to get attacked by someone/something. a gun is useless to your sense of securty and masculinity if you'd never have anything to use it on
>>
>>629511
Seconded
