what's the /out/life like in phoenix?
hot dry and mexican
Air conditioned
Hot
Mimic the native wildlife and avoid the sun as much as possible, the UV index has been maxed all summer. If you have to be outside in the sun, breathable long sleeves, pants and large hats are recommended, and staying hydrated is a must. Lots of tourists die on day hikes in the desert or popular hiking trails like Camelback "mountain" (it's really more of a hill) because they underestimate how much water they will need in the sun and overheat.
Early morning and evening is the best time to go out for a walk or hike.
If you find yourself stranded in the desert, here's a handy plant that could save your life, both the fruit and the pads are edible and contain some fluid that while not enough to satiate your thirst, will help to keep you alive.

Brutally hot. Avoid. I've had cooler weather in fucking Saudi Arabia at similar times of year. Old people frequently die when their AC fails.
do you guys think the albuquerque area is superior to phoenix in terms of outdoors stuff

Flagstaff is better

was gonna ask about this
The mountains seem to have weather similar to Virginia except not fucking humid
Pretty much anywhere up on the Mogollon Rim will be more tolerable than down on the desert floor, it's the largest unbroken ponderosa pine forest in the world.
