Any recommendations on a mess-kit to cook with while camping?
I'm planning a little 2-3 day trip in the fall and I want to try my hand at cooking something while I'm out there.
As for what I'm cooking, I'm probably gonna bring some meat, cheese, nuts, and sea salt.
Never really done anything like this before.
Might try to get some small game, but I doubt I'll be successful in that endeavor.

I really suggest you practice with your kit before you try that shit in the woods.

I thought that went without saying?
How else am I gonna see if it's actually food safe and decent to cook with?

Oh you'd be surprised. You'd be very surprised.
That's why I always suggest MREs.

I use freeze dried nowadays only, straight from the bag, just add boiling water, and why.

TL;DR: it is not just the making of food, but cleaning the utensils afterwards! This is equally important as to figuring out shallots or yellow onion, butter or olive oil. Otherwise you'll be bent out of shape shitting.
