So how does /out/ find places to camp?
I'm in Eastern MA, and all of the results I find for camping is a KOA tier site, usually a bunch of 100' square sites off an improved road, and I don't want such close neighbors when trying to get back to nature. Last time I was at a state park, I listened to the people in the next site over watch Game of Thrones until 2am, while I was trying to silently stare at the embers of my campfire. And lots of them are only open Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Do I just need better search terms, like wilderness camping or something? Should I forgo state parks and look for national forests/parks? Or does New England just not have a lot of what I'm looking for? I'm gonna try to get up to Acadia next year, but that is a long enough drive that I would want to stay for a week or more. Mostly I just want to go out in the woods for a few days and not see anyone besides the rangers.
Pic is an unrelated snek from the woodpile a few weeks back.

i find public use land or someone with land they'll let me camp on. if it's easily accessible or full of amenities then it's going to be rife with chucklefucks that'll ruin the experience
