Hey /out/, planning to go on my first real camping trip with a friend before they go off to uni and I start my gap year. Because it's our first time, we don't want to stray too far from the nest, so where in the UK do you think would be best for wild camping? The national parks look quite nice, but not too sure on the specific rules. Also, what would be the recommend essentials for a three day (two night) trip?
Would be happy to give any more information if it helps.

If you can head to Scotland and walk some of the West Highland Way. Wild camping is legal up there, unlike in England where it is totally illegal (realistically no one will bother you in out-of-the-way spots). If you can't get to Scotland then look to the Lake District or North wales. If you are looking for a 3 day walk then you can easily make up your own circuit. Just don't look to do more than 15 miles a day if you are new to hiking. Other than that, really think about what you put in your bag, take only what you will need. Be prepared for rain.

Also check the catalog next time you dunce. There is a UK thread up at the moment. So there wasn't really any need to make your own.
