How do I into climbing mountains?

Practice climbing my dick first.

That's not even a bump, let alone a hill.
>>1088263
what the h*ck do you even want?
aim your body at the top of the mountain and start walking
>>1088318
What about the harder ones though?
>>1088263
Go try some wallclimbing first. Then learn to tie the ropes. When you can solo climb on the wall, you know what to do.

What about ice and snow stuff?
>>1088448
For that you'll need sturdy boots, crampons and ice axes and maybe hook yourself to a rope, and mirror-finish sunglasses and a beard and whatnot, but better learn the basics first.

Would finding a club or something be good idea?
>>1088463
Yes, probably.
If you are asking because you know the techniques, have/can find the gear, and just want to get to the top of K2 to take a selfie, then a club or fellow adventurers would be your best choice. IMO.
>>1088465
I'm asking because I don't know the techniques.
I'd like to start learning and go from simple hikes + scrambles to being able to climb mountains like Shasta or Whitney and then beyond.
>>1088468
I guess it's best to start by hiking, then.
Build up hiking to smaller hills and bumps and mountains and then go for those bigger ones.
You have a long-term goal that is well-defined. That is good - not many people have that. Good luck anon.

Okay. I was planning on hiking and building fitness more then trying Mt. Muir or Matterhorn Peak.

are you wanting to do the non-technical or technical (i.e. roped) routes up those peaks? if you're just trying to bag them then just get out there and do them. a few years ago i hiked the whitney trail car to car in 14 hours basically off the couch. if you want to do the technical routes that'll take a bit more experience and gear.
>tfw thunderstorms fucked me out of the north arete of matterhorn peak a couple weeks ago
at least the eclipse was clear for me
>>1088505
Non technical but I'd like to be able to do more technical climbs eventually.
Do people just find someone to teach them?
>>1088505
Have you done my Muir?
What is peak like? Some pics look not too bad but this one looks a bit scary with all that exposure.

This gave me some sweaty pams desu.
Maybe I'm not cut out for climbing mountains.

>How do I into climbing mountains?
One step at a time.

looks like fun! though gopro's fisheye lens sometimes makes stuff look steeper than it is. but one of the things i love most about climbing it that there are physical and mental challenges for all levels. try out some class 2, see how you like it, and go from there.

I've done Mt. Thielsen which online says is a class 3/4 and it wasn't too bad.
Maybe it's the camera since this does look worse than I remember.
