When I go hunting I always play truco with my friends or whoever I find.
It's a really fast paced an entertaining game that only requires a deck of 40 cards so it's pretty easy to pack.

I always carry hive. Its a fun little game for two with fun mechanics.

Its a bit like chess, where each pieces moves a certain way and that you need to circle your opponent queen bee

I've always wanted to learn some really old dice games and maybe make my own dice even but...heh...he hard to play against yourself.

We always played checkers back when I was in the boy scout. It keeps thing entertaining while not as mentally taxing as chess. Besides, you could make one out of discarded canvas and bottle caps
