>start browsing /out/
>feel a growing urge to go out innawoods

>pitched it in my back garden late last night when it was dark
>stayed in there until 6am speedrunning Pokemon Yellow on my old gameboy
>too tired to put it away so dragged the entire thing inside
>took a warm bath and fell asleep
>tfw mommy had put the tent away by the time I woke up and got out
>tfw she says I'm brave for being out there all alone

Thanks /out/, you've totally pushed me out of my comfort zone. I honestly can't wait until my next adventure.
It's good man
Keep at it brother

/out/ is the nicest board.
Hows everyone`s weekend?
>>1074935
Certainly the highest proportion of genuinely helpful people to shitposters of the boards I've used. /diy/ is full of stand up lads as well.

Pretty good. Life is generally good these days.
>>1074943
It has been for me too.
have you been on a camping trip lately, anon?
>be me 2 months ago
>live a sedentary lifestyle my entire life in front of the computer because parents never gave a shit
>constantly think about going outdoors lately but never have the energy and motivation for it
>convinced that technology and a degenerate stimulation seeking western lifestyle has fucked my brain up to the point where I can't enjoy the simple things in life anymore without getting bored instantly
>start reading about the dangers of sitting
>decide to switch to a standing desk because I take my health very seriously
>standing feels so alien to me, uncomfortable as hell
>a week late start noticing significant improvements in my posture and energy levels, standing starts to feel more natural
>keeps improving
>start getting spontaneous urges to move around a lot more, screen time starts decreasing
>start getting very strong urges to go outside and enjoy the summer
>find myself outdoors multiple times a week laying in the shade and reading comfy history books and books about politics
>start taking small trips just walking along trails out in nature
>fast forward to 2 weeks ago
>my screen time has decreased to the point where I get comfy and shitpost for about 1 hour in the evening, now a lot of my screen time is just getting important information and not mindless surfing
>see an ad for this board when browsing /pol/
>comfyness makes me stick around
>spend 1 week at mom's and stepdad's house
>find myself at the beach fishing every day, even when it's raining, start to feel a significant improvement in my mood
>catch a bunch of perch that I take home and smoke in my stepdad's smoke oven, also bring home a bunch of small fish for the kitties to eat
>browsing this board every day now
>thinking about getting an air rifle for rabbit hunting and just shooting the bastards on my stepdad's land and bringing them home so that my mom can cook some delicious rabbit stew
Thanks standing desks and thanks /out/. I've actually started to enjoy life because of you.
>>1074946
Yep. Me and my buddy went camping on some family property of his. It got up to +30C, but there's a glacially fed river that flows through his property and we spent a lot of time cooling off down there. Top comfy.
I'm newish to /out/ and I love this board. Really gotten me into hiking more. Finished a peak this morning and I don't think I would've imagined myself doing that six months ago. As a pretty short grill it's not something I ever sought out in the past but now I love it. Thanks guys.
>>1074947
Top quality post, anon. Happy to hear you got your life sorted out.
>>1074947
If true those are some goos feels anon. An active lifestyle makes all the difference, making yourself happy is what matters
>>1074947
im so happy for you if true anon. your living the life good friend
>>1074947
Glad to hear it anon
>>1074947
I used to be active and happy but have slipped into the mode you were in at the beginning of your post. I feel bored if I'm not staring at my phone or computer
>>1074947
i recommend .22lr for rabbit hunting, much more comfy desu senpai
you can find a used .22lr gun for about 10 GBP
>>1074976
This, you can get one for the same price as a good air rifle and the ammo is dirt cheap.

I kinda wish. All the hiking here is in the desert basically. Denver would be green.
>>1074975
just force your self to be active and you'll probably end up enjoying it
>>1074875
How many good boy points did you get for going outside?
>>1074947
Its a shame that standing desks and standing for extended periods is bad for your health too. Moderation anon.
>>1075003
I made my own. I put a small table on my desk. My desk can be adjusted with a hand crank so I used that to get the table to elbow height. I placed my keyboard and mouse on the table and then stacked some books on top of each other to get my screen to eye height.
>>1075110
That's why I take regular breaks from standing. I'm willing to bet that standing too much is still better than sitting too much.

>NO FUN ALLOWED GUYS!! JUST SHUT UP!!
>>1075119
Truth be told the verdict is still out in regards to the science on sitting. Its not a good idea to be sedentary and sit for 18 hours a day, and you should still have at least 2-3 hours of moderate physical activity a week as an adult. Still, I wouldn't make any claims that aren't set in stone yet. Its literally comparable to the debate on whether or not eggs are bad for you (raise or lower cholesterol). Plenty of studies on both sides with good evidence and mostly positive peer reviews saying both are true. We need more data.

/out/ came after the fact for me, but I had a huge turnaround from basically being like that around 18 or 20. I was soaked in tech and gaming my entire childhood but eventually some sort of curtain came back and it just seemed so empty and unrewarding.
>>1075125
/out/ is and always has been a nice board. This is one of our traditional niceposting ceremonies, so if you don't like it, that makes you a racist.
>>1075031
CO is a mix of arid and verdant green depending on where you are
>>1075365
Still a lot greener than anything in the area here. Nice thing about California at least is that it's only about an hour drive to a different climate.
>>1075289

>>1074947
The /out/ lifestyle is simple and rewarding. Glad to have another convert.
I'm /p/ and /an/ fag, but I'm going here more and more because nice people, so I'll show you my favorite tree, pic I take yesterday for you
>>1076872
That's a pretty sweet pic. Where at?
>>1074947
Anon, you have just motivated me to set up a DIY standing desk using plastic storage boxes! I predict that this will be the start of a permanent change, because I've been unhappy with my computer usage for my whole life, basically. This will make it at least a bit healthier. Thanks!
>>1074975
We are all excited to read you next posting about your sc/out/ing. It doesn't need to be epic, long, or difficult. Just go, anon!
I might go walking outside more and work my way up to hiking. Thank you all anons

What happened with your biological dad?

Next step is to go to a campground somewhere, then go backpacking
>tfw went /out/ and walked 20km
I just recently started exposing my son to the outdoors. He's only 4 so still a little young, but he's definitely interested in the woods and all that.
Soon I'll start him out with taking our car to camp sites and eventually we'll be full on /out/.
I'm really excited about the potential adventures we can have as father asson.
>>1082738
*and son.
Stupid phone.
>>1082738
When do you plan to introduce him to /out/?
>>1082757
The /out/ lifestyle? I'm hoping to be fully immersed by the time he turns 10.
/out/ the board? Fucking never. As nice as this place is it's an island paradise surrounded by a literal ocean of the most unimaginably degenerate shit possible.
>Haven't been /out/ since I left for college

Gonna be a good time. Just started lurking here this week, I really like /out/ you guys are great.

Definitely check out the hikes around Golden and Boulder if you're in denver area. Some easy and gorgeous hikes.
>>1083011
Please don't chop up random trees just to fulfill you survival fantasy Anon.
>>1083027
It's a Superfund site and the primary plant life is bushes and other scrub. Gonna be building out if scrap first. I'm not really concerned about a bush or two. The place is already fucked up. I legitimately don't mean disrespect, but do you think that's gonna matter? Or is there some principle I'm missing?
>>1083331
Fuck it. Sounds fun.
>>1083336
Hell yeah, gonna find some spooky shit and post here or on /k/ in a month or so. Hopefully it's interesting.

Mattox! That's the name. Thanks
