You don't say.
Next you'll probably tell me that India has the most shit in the rivers that you've ever seen, or that you've never seen so many people as you did in China.

There are still a few old guys who sail on these, though they are few and far between. However these don't handle like conventional sail boats.
Do any foreign boats ever pass through? Maybe winter there?
Lots of people will be happy to teach you how to sail if you help with "boat stuff".

If you're in the Persian gulf, then you're in a climate where sailing isn't as demanding. I'd suggest studying abroad and learning sailing in a stormier area where they have to be really good just to get by. Sadly, those skills are being lost because sailing as anything other than recreation or racing is fading away. Real seamanship under sail is a rare thing.

>Do any foreign boats ever pass through?
No not really, aside from cargo ships of course. So far I've learned the basics of sailing from books and youtube videos, the person who gave me the boat was a relative of mine who knew how to Sail, but has Alzheimer's now. Honestly I've been thinking about selling my sailboat.

Definitely; I'm trying to develop my skills as a sailor so that I can pass the techniques to the next generation, the only people who go on sailing expeditions today are exuberantly wealthy millennials & or obscure Scandinavian adventurers. Maybe I'll sell my current boat and go to a sail school in a colder climate to reconsider if I really want to do this with my life.

Sailing is easy nowdays. Try and find a yacht with an automated jib and all you have to know about sailing is that your sail goes loose with wind from your back and tight with wind from the side and front.
Also you can't sail straight into the wind but about 45 degrees from it. 30 with a good boat.
All the rest is the same as with motored yachts: anchoring, docking, steering etc. You can learn those at a boating school I guess.
You'l learn the rest of the sailing skills from doing it al lot and looking up stuff about it online.
Or visit dutchland, here it's required by law to know how to sail.

Real seamanship isn't seamanship that isn't recreational. Crossing the Atlantic in a schooner requires seamanship, no matter the purpose.
